I felt like having something sweet after lunch today, so I headed out of the office for a fresh juice. My initial thought was to get one at Bingo Juice, in United Centre (read my review about it), but then I changed my mind and decided to check out this place. I saw it from the tramway on my way to work one day and had never actually tried. It said 'fruit and gifts' on the front so I assumed they had juices.
Somehow I was expecting something like Bingo Juice, and it's the same concept, just a little less...cool? It's a tiny shop that sells juices, salads and sandwiches but by the time I got there (1.30pm) they only had some fruit boxes and juices. I asked for an English menu and read through...yeah, basically all they're about is juices: 12/18/24oz for 13/20/25HKD for single fruits and veggies and a little more if you mix up different fruits. There are milkshakes and yakults for as much as 35HKD the largest; and some very cheap food (fish ball, beef ball, rice chicken). They also prepare some food and drinks for parties (fruit packs, dim sum, sandwiches...).
So, I got a kiwi juice, a small one. Nothing can go wrong with a juice, right? Well, mine had a few hard pieces, like stones in it that I almost swallowed...not very nice.
I love fruit and juice shops; they're usually colorful and they serve generally healthy food. They're also quite a straightforward business model and simple to operate, yet Wing Tai seemed a little too slow, a little crappy...maybe I was comparing to Bingo Juice. Next time you know where I'm going for my juice, don't you? read more
