It's brewed right up front using pantyhose as a strainer. Spring onion chicken over dry ramen noodles: The dish they are most known for. This was SO good after a night of drinking and mean whisky breath. The instant noodles are perfectly low-key and great for absorbing all the alcohol. Chicken was delicious and all of it is "activated" by pouring burning oil on the green onions and chicken. Pork Chop Bun: The noodles were enough for me but I really wanted to try this. Service is alright and efficient as most HK cha chaan tengs are expected to be however, I didn't like the attitude of one of the servers who brought out my table's meal as it was not what was ordered. Once your number is called, you get seated. Once seated, a server comes and places plates and silverware and offers you water and tea. Tea is complimentary. I have heard that some places in hong kong charge you for tea while you are under the impression that it's complimentary. The way it works for ordering dim sum items here is that servers constantly are around pushing carts full of variety of food items. You with flag them down or when they come by your table area, you tell them what and how much you want of the foods they have on their cart. There's a list of items on the side of the cart to tell you what all they have in that cart. Once you are given what you wanted, the server marks on your bill what you got and how much of it. Later, you take that bill to the cashier and pay. We ate a lot of variety of foods. Dumplings, buns, fried rolls, roasted pork pieces, and mango oriented dessert items. It was all delicious and good. We loved it. It was worth the visit. This place is good for anyone (locals and tourists). It's in a nice setting. The leader of the group decided to give this place a try and we hit jackpot. As we sat down, we noticed the chairs were smaller and lower which made it difficult to sit. For me, I almost had a Charlie Horse! After we took our seats I grabbed a menu. Luckily, I am able to read the Chinese menu and decided on the classic bowl of fishcake with look funn noodles. I also noticed seaweed as a side dish which seemed interesting so I added that on. I like restaurants that advertise house made items and in this case, their fish cake. I judge it by the texture, appearance and taste. The fishcake had a firm texture with a good bounce. You could taste the fish (it wasn't fishy at all), white pepper and sesame oil. There was a balance in these flavors which stood out in the bowl. I noticed the look funn noodles were sliced thinner than what I'm used to. I added the seaweed which brought another level of flavor and I enhanced my bowl by adding some red wine vinegar and chili sauce. When I was done polishing my bowl of noodles, I didn't feel stuffed. As a side dish we also had some choy sum with oyster sauce that was good. When in Hong Kong, order a glass of milk tea that is served either hot or cold. It was still warm in mid-November so I asked for the iced version. The milk tea was amazing. It's a far cry from what I drink here at home. The brewed tea is strong and has a great balance with evaporated milk and sweet condensed milk. It was so good that I polished my glass quickly and ordered a second one. Service was standard for a Chinese restaurant. Because we spoke in Cantonese we got exactly what was ordered on a timely basis. Not sure if service would be compromised if you don't speak Chinese.
