I have to say that the last time I ordered from Pizza Box was when I was still studying at CUHK. As…read moresome of you may have known, I lived in the farthest hostel in the entire campus - International House. Going out for dinner and coming back can take quite a while and too much of a hassle. Therefore, my roommate and I often ordered from Pizza Box. Why Pizza Box but not Pizza H*t? First off, Pizza Box does not offer crazy choices, instead, they have my favorite - meat lovers; second, Pizza H*t does not deliver to secluded places like ours; third, it is much cheaper, and it has buy one get one free promotion. (Fun fact - I tried calling in Cantonese and the staff said they do not have that promotion; so try English if you want this - not sure if it still happens though) So around HKD$150 can get you 2 huge boxes of pizza in less than an hour. Where else can you find that? The delivery normally does not take too long and the food is super hot when they get served. The crust is crispy with melted cheese all covering the slices. You may try to order online but I prefer calling in person. Though I do not see myself a computer idiot, its online system fails me still - and I do not see the promotion online unfortunately. Therefore, give them a call, which is definitely much faster and more convenient. There are so many stores around Hong Kong and I can guarantee you they do delivery everywhere.

Last night a pizza saved my life.. well, not literally, but Pizza Box has been a source of…read moresustenance for me on some many lazy evenings. There is of course, the million dollar question of which is better: Pizza Hut or Pizza Box? Some would say Pizza Hut does a better all-round and that their pizzas are more interesting. Then you have the school of Pizza Box where the pizzas are done properly and to be honest nothing else much matters. For me- the Pizza is the main thing in the meal and I don't care if the pasta is a bit soggy and the soup tastes like PVA. You are ordering a pizza after all so that's what should be done properly. Pizza Box's menu has a traditional list of pizzas- nothing too fancy but enough to keep a pizza buff like me happy. I am not a fan of the pizza hut take on dumping every single known ingredient to mankind on the pizzas. The are 3 choices for the crust and I think that's the proper way of doing things- none of that nonsense with cheese and everything else. They deliver or you could choose to pick up a pizza from their shop; doing it the latter way would usually mean a 40% off or a concession to a similar degree. I always choose to go pick it up as its cheaper and quicker. Their service has always been top notch and I really cannot A Manhattan would do me quite well at this time- thank you very much.

After scanning the menus of restaurants like School Food, Bene and Parkview, I decided that the lunch set menu at Pizza Express looked the best. Since it was lunchtime, Pizza Express was full (as were most of the restaurants there), so I had to join the others waiting outside and take a number. Our number was about fifteen away from the number it currently was, but surprisingly it didn't take that long - a little over ten minutes later, I was given a table. My friend still hadn't arrived, and I was glad when they let me in anyway and didn't say that the entire party must be present before being given the table. My friend and I both got the light lunch set, which includes a main and a drink. We decided to get different mains each and share between the two of us, and we mutually agreed on the margherita pizza and the salmon farfalle. For drinks, my friend got the raspberry cooler and I got the lemonade. The drinks arrived almost immediately after we ordered them - my friend's raspberry cooler was really refreshing and sweet, and my lemonade was super sour! It was definitely the sourest lemonade I'd ever tasted - well, the sourest drink I'd ever had, period! I liked it though, because I really love things that taste sour. The food didn't take long to get here. The margherita pizza came in one round piece and we split it in two to share. The pizza was really good - it was a thin-crust, so it was light, and it was nice and cheesy. The salmon pasta was pretty good too - they were generous enough with the salmon, and the pasta was really creamy. I was no doubt happy with the food, but not so happy with the portions! The pizza and the pasta were both pretty small, and I was still left feeling a little hungry after it all. I can definitely see myself back here again - and when I am, I'll be sure to order the executive lunch set, which includes an appetizer!

Located in Sha Tin Town Hall, la terrazza Caffe is only minutes away from the ever-bustling New…read moreTown Plaza, but its quiet atmosphere and generally quite affordable prices make it seem like a whole new world. To get there from New Town Plaza, simply exit at the first floor (where all the restaurants are), walk up the steps and go straight into the Town Hall. My mother and I were here for the first time for tea the other day. A cake set including a drink adds up to $45, and there's no service charge, so it is quite a bit cheaper than other cafés. The downside is that there were only three types of cakes - tiramisu, Neapolitan and apple tart, but the upside is that they brew Starbucks coffee! This makes their set a really good value because getting a drink at Starbucks would set you back at least $30 already. Although the variety of cakes is limited, you'll be pleased to know that they're of a pretty good size. Especially my mother's Neapolitan - it was about twice the size of regular artisanal cakes that you would get elsewhere. The Neapolitan is loose yet very crunchy, and not overly sweet. My tiramisu was not as big and unfortunately didn't have much of a coffee taste, but was soft and creamy nonetheless. We were there at around 5pm on a Friday and had no issues finding a seat. Besides cakes, they also serve waffles with (Haagen Dazs!) ice cream, hot dogs and salad. They do lunch sets too. One thing though is that there is faint Chinese opera music not from the cafe, but from the speakers around the Town Hall. It's not super loud but if you have really sensitive ears and are not one for high pitched Chinese opera tunes, this may bother you!

Nonetheless, they allow you to get drinks inside and take them to the outdoor area. And they (surprisingly) did not complain about some in our group bringing drinks from outside. Went back again during the day and they have decently priced lunch sets. The food ranges from below average to above average depending on the dish you choose. One thing to note is the size of their items are pretty large. Not the serving but the ingredients. Environment was also pretty nice and service was pretty good.
