While it's as recognizable as any place, there were days where the restaurant looked much nicer. If one looks past beyond the lines, there is indoor seating available. It is every bit as tight as other HK eateries, with folks often sharing tables and not particularly a good fit for large groups. The place is clean and interestingly has a lot of portraits of pets. Most folks are gunning for their curry fishballs and cheung fun rice rolls, which can be directly accessed from their street side window. The fish balls have good texture and that spongy exterior is good with the pseudo spicy curry sauce. I love the rice rolls with a little peanut butter sauce and sesame, which is semi-addicting. There is also their siu mai, which seems on par with many of the food stalls, but is better with a bit of sweet soy and chili oil. Washing it all down with their cold and sweet soya milk (凍豆漿) is highly recommended. Since they're constantly crowded, the service works very quickly. I don't recall them accepting credit cards, but I have always paid in cash or with an octopus card. Compared to their Mong Kok location near the Flower Market, I would still choose this one in YMT.

SERVICE: At the take out window, you just tell them what you want and they prepare it in front of you and you just pay them right there. I usually pay in cash but I think they also take octopus card. Ming Garden have two menus. One in cantonese language and the other one in english. The cantonese one includes more dishes. Sad for me :-(, I dont like westernized meals. The dishes are not expensive and the food was always fresh and good flavored. For example: I love the classical Hainan Chicken Rise Dish. The soup is tasty and the chicken is cooked very gently. The sauces are perfect. Try it! You can get this dish also at the lunch time. The restaurant is very busy at the rush hours like lunch and dinner time, which is a good sign. But you can reserve a table. Most visitors are from Hong Kong. Sometimes I was the only european person. This restaurant was one of my favourites. She said the husband is from Shangdong and th wife is Taiwanese. So we are both right. We had the minced pork gravy (Taiwanese) noodles and sesame shredded chicken (north east china) noodles and pork & chives dumplings (Beijing/Shanghai/other but not the south). 3.5 stars. I tried to ad Shandong as a category in Yelp & it didn't exist so I added Taiwanese. If Yelp is going to do a Chinese city, it's got to have all the Chinese foods as their categories.

Hands down the mushroom chicken were amazing in flavour, while the original ones lacked a bit of taste. Other items tried were the cold noodles which were pretty good and the tofu with century egg and floss topping (sounds a bit daunting for westerners but its a party in your mouth). I was recommended the sweet and sour prawns but to be honest, this was a miss for me. Soggy, gloopy sauce and very uninspired and sloppy. Best part? very price friendly for what you get. My grandpa always goes here for morning tea and dimsum and he really enjoys it here. The taste is real authentic dimsum with lots of flavor and nothing weird tasting of the sort. Since I came here for vacation, I basically went here quite often. Foods that you can't go wrong here is the custard bun, har gow, and siu mai. The chicken feet here is decent as well. The custard bun melts in your mouth!!! When you rip it in half, the custard just melts and it seriously looks gorgeous. Not to mention the taste was phenomenon. If any place is authentic, they cannot mess up the basic har gow and siu mai. As well for the chicken feet, its fresh, flavorful, and soft. Not many people enjoy the taste and taste of it but for me, it was 5/5. I came here once for brunch and they had a chow fun with beef slices. It was not too oily compared to what you can find in other places which I really appreciated. It was flavorful and not heavy. If you happen to order this dish, ask for a sweet and spicy hot sauce. They offer two kinds where one of them has chili flakes (I believe). Ask for the other one without chili flakes and add it with your chow fun. You'll thank me later.
