Fell in love with Kokon when they were still a tiny restaurant in TST. Back then they could only seat maybe 10 guests or less. Love their American style sushi that I truly missed!!! Spider roll, mountain roll, fried sushi rolls with that awesome spicy orange sauce... you name it! If you had tried American style sushi in the States before, you know what I'm talking about!
During my last visit in the TST shop, they told us about they move to Kwun Tong with much bigger space. A few months passed and my sushi long rolls craving hits, so I looked them up and visit the new place for the first time, and boi I was not disappointed!
First of all, it's in an industrial building... very hip address for a restaurant. You would think it might be the wrong place to be for Japanese food, but don't worry. As I exit the elevator to 1st floor, just followed my nose and I found the place. It's a lot more crowded then I expected! We were asked if we have a reservation, luckily it's still relatively early so we got seated without a reservation.
They kept the awesome menu of sushi, my favorites are still there! California roll, tempura rolls, avocado rolls, different versions of dragon rolls, Fuji Mountain, Rock & Roll.... I'm in sushi heaven!! Noticed that they have added some set dinner on the menu as well. The 2 of us ordered 6 long rolls but nothing else. Yummy in my tummy and it's just as good as I remember them to be. My favorite was still the spider roll with crunchy soft-shell crab, crab fillet, avocado, and cucumber inside. The "Can't Forget You" roll came close as the runner up as I always like mango. Yup! it's a mango sushi with cream cheese and beef!
It was a lot of sushi for the two of us but we loved it! It's a bit expensive as we spent $5xx on 6 rolls with soft drinks. Seats were crowded and can totally hear the conversation from our neighbors. Napkins were not served on the table. With the pros and cons, Kokon2 still deserves 4 stars in my opinion. Will definitely come back the next time I crave for US style sushi rolls! read more
