I recommend upper level for the Teppanyaki experience and sushi. Ground level for the robatayaki…read more(yakitori) they will bring you food from upstairs if you seat downstairs but not the other way around. So depending on what you want to eat, you will have to choose first where to seat. Not a problem but just spent 10min trying to understand the menu first in the lobby before choosing where to seat.(downstairs...) Now for the good stuff: - prices are not cheap but value is great. Tiger prawn, Japanese beef, etc. A lot of very premium items that they carry super fresh and delicious. Tenderloin beef melts in your mouth and the tiger prawn is just pure poetry. This little surf & turf got my bill north of $2000 but it was completely worth it. Many restaurants in HK will advertise on the menu the Japanese beef but when you want to order it, it is not available. This happens quite often and it is frustrating - grilled skewers were good but not great. Unlike yakitori-focused restaurant, it is not the only thing they do, so they are not amazing at it. The deboned stuffed chicken wing was excellent though. The vegetable skewers were just OK - 1 toro scallion roll was amazing - sake selection was good - cheesecake was good. not too sweet. - service was attentive Highly recommend this place and hope to return

#ThrowbackThursday - Remembering Hong Kong…read more.. Conveniently located at Nathan Road near the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station, we decided to have our final meal in Hong Kong at Daikiya Japanese Restaurant. It's a very solid all-you-can-eat option with two thick notebooks of pictured items to choose from. The raw and the cooked, the fish and the meat, the meal and the dessert... Sashimi - The usual suspects abound (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, etc.), but they also have hokkigai (surf clam), amaebi (sweet shrimp), Hokkaido hotate (scallop), and nishin (Japanese herring with roe). Served on a bed of ice and decorated with artificial flowers, each platter was well-plated... and delicious! Nigiri - There are plenty of winners here, but let's focus on the one that topped the list - Grilled Scallop with Crab Oil and Garlic. Seared enough to give that burnt flavor, dabbed with crab oil, then topped with roasted garlic... Need I say more? This was the highlight of our meal and, yes, my younger daughter and I had this over and over and over! Worthy runners-up - Grilled Flatfish and Prawn with Black Fish Roe. Rolls - An assortment of maki (sushi roll), temaki (hand roll), gunkan-maki (ship roll), and sashimi rolls was on the menu as well, but we were able to try only a few. The Mango and Soft-Shell Crab Roll was too small and had more cucumber than anything else. There simply were better options to be had. Grilled - Surf and Turf! Shrimp, scallop, oyster, lamb chop, beef, chicken, pork, and even pineapple. The best dish was the Sautéed Diced Beef with Garlic. Perfectly seasoned and cooked medium, these beef chunks were so tender and tasty! Dessert - Gotta save room for some (or all) of these - mochi, macaron, ice cream, tiramisù, brownie, crème brûlée, fruit, nut, and so on. We indulged in their special Milk Top, which had a limit of one flavor per person. We tried the Romantic Moment and Green Tea Harmony, which had soft-serve ice cream, red bean/paste, mochi balls, jellies, and rice crispies. The only way to cap off an AYCE! After restocking on calories, we were ready to head back to the hotel and then to HKIA. Daikiya was just what the doctor ordered to fill up our bellies before leaving. We totally enjoyed our stay in Hong Kong, but we had to wrap up our adventure. It was time to say goodbye... for now...

No wonder HK is the paradise for foodies! 1) The menu was extensive, almost overwhelming (there are 2 books), including sashimi boat, nigiri, tempura, seared fish, hand rolls, California rolls, desserts, anything you can think of! My eyes lit up when I opened the menu like I saw gold. 2) The food quality was very good for the price we paid. Everything raw was fresh and chilled and the rest were all served hot and steamy. 3) Service was super efficient and courteous too. They tried to fulfill all your requests. 4) It can be packed so book an early table. 5) You won't break your bank here to be able to enjoy a quality AYCE. We were all so full at the end. I can't wait to go back next time I'm in HK! I hope they stay in business for a while and keep the quality up! **** I heard the other locations don't taste as good so not every Daikiya is the same.

This review is only based after 10PM cause that is when mostly everything is 50% off. This is good quality sushi too, not the cheap sushi you find in America. Everything is freaking cheap! Try the smoked Nigri or sashimi. You cant go wrong with anything. There is a line that starts to form after 930 - mostly younger college kids in big groups of friends.

FOOD: 2 SERVICE: 2…read moreAMBIANCE: 4 VALUE: 2 This was really a huge disappointment! We were expecting much better food and service, but what we got was average food, below average service and half our cocktail drinks didn't come until after we've finished our WHOLE meal. We ordered the following: 1. Seafood Soup in Teapot - four little clams, one small piece of white fish and one tiny scallop in a salty broth served lukewarm. 2. Steamed Egg with Black Truffle - eggs steamed with a piece of shrimp, piece of crab meat, a piece of chicken and a small dollop of black truffle. Despite looking nothing like the picture in the menu, it was probably the best dish of the night. 3. Japanese Pumpkin and Sweet Potato Tempura - yes it was tempura, but served cold. 4. Assorted Tempura - again, average tempura served cold. 5. Hiroshima Oyster Cutlet - fancy name for fried oysters and very average at best. 6. Spicy Tuna Crispy Chip - where's the spice? Where's the taste? 7. Special Sashimi Platter - nothing really special here, pretty standard fare and the fishes weren't that fresh. 8. Specialty Cocktails (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) - don't even bother looking at their drinks menu because you are not getting what is shown and it won't even taste like anything except artificial flavors. Sushi One is located towards the back and you will be walking past two other Japanese restaurants, if I was you, I would seriously consider the other two before walking into this trap! At 50% off after 9:30PM, it might be worth the deceptions on looks and tastes for the thrifty, but this Yelper will not be coming back at any time.

Last call is 2:30 and we got there around 2pm on a Sunday. We had wait a little for the bar to clear up. It's a very small restaurant with only maybe capacity for 20 people or so. We ordered a sashimi lunch set and a tempura set and man it was such a great deal! My sashimi set includes almost 10 pieces of assorted fish like yellowtail, maguro, salmon, imitation crab (don't care), but hey they put amaebi and toro on my plate too and that was quite a nice surprise! Not only the sashimi was plentiful and amazing, my set also came with the steamed egg, miso soup and some pickled vegetables! The tempura was pretty good too and I liked the fried fish, very flavorful and tender! The sashimi set cost around $220 and the tempura a little less than $200. The prices are reasonable for the portions and the quality! Very great deal! Just come here earlier and be prepared to wait.

Boyfriend and I wanted to have a more pricey dinner so we are on vacation…read more This is a really cute, small restaurant. They closed at 10:30pm and we showed up at about 8:30pm. One of the waitress approached us and apologized that they were busy and no seats available. She walked around and came back to tell us that there should be seating at 9pm, and so we told her, "no problem, we will be back then." We walked around the block and went to the mall to kill time. When we got back about 8:50pm, we waited another 15 minutes, which was fine. We could tell it was busy and every seat in the place was taken (they had group celebrating a birthday-- they offer birthday cake!) By the time we were seated, half the place was getting up to leave. Every staff member starts their sentence with "I am sorry.." which they have nothing to be sorry for!-- but just could be their way of being polite. The waitress who took our order was an older lady. She's the one who approached us when we first arrived, who seated us, and took our order. Her English was pretty good, with a very thick accent (of course) but you can understand her. If you couldn't she will repeat herself or try to say it in a different way. She offered many great selections!-- including which needs to be dipped into their special soy sauce and regular soy sauce. We had sashimi of: baby tuna, tuna, salmon, sea urchin, yellowtail.. and a few others I can't remember. And one tuna roll. Their wasabi is delicious! Everything is fantastic! They offer coke, sprite, and orange juice, along with different types of alcohol. The staff is always busy, literally hurrying along. They come over and wipe down the soy sauce drops that are on the table. They switch out your plates once they start to look a little too used, and always makes sure your drinking glass is full. One of the best services I've ever had! I did have to ask for the check, but maybe they do that so you can enjoy your stay and not feel like you need to leave. Our bill was just a little under $250 USD, but that was expected with all the sushi we had, and just what we were looking for. We highly recommend this place!
