After seeing the price and what they offered on the menu, I decided it was imperative that I get my colleagues to try the place out with me, and I definitely didn't regret it. Simplylife sports a post-modern upscale interior that feels minimalistic yet comfortable. It's quiet and as such is also a very nice place to chat with someone over the coffee. The view is okay, but it's not particularly remarkable unless you're a railfan, in which case you might enjoy seeing an MTR train pass by every two minutes or so. I ordered their bacon and cheese burger with spicy fries alongside their homemade grapefruit iced tea, and I must say that I was pleased with what they gave me. While the burger looked a bit smaller than I hoped, I can't really complain seeing as this is a rather snazzy cafe, and I was ordering off their tea set menu which was HK$48 with the drink included. Furthermore, they had a very tender beef patty which was fragrant, but not overly beefy, and it was nice to see a place that used real cheddar on their burgers instead of velveta. I'd appreciate more than a single slice of bacon, but again I can't really complain considering the price. The burger comes with cajun fries as standard, and that was really nice too. The fries themselves were crispy, and they were also very well-seasoned. The grapefruit tea is cold, slightly sweet and you could really taste the grapefruit zest, which was a very nice plus. I might try a tea set with a cake instead the next time I come around. Staff are okay, but wow do they offer excellent value here.

Western food! The…read moreflying pan has very reasonable prices, poor coffee, mediocre food, and good service. I ordered the salmon Benedict, Kenzie the pepper and onion Benedict. The eggs being over cooked, had a non runny yolk. I ordered sides of baked beans and corn grits which were both fine. Our plates came out with the sides switched up. Not a big deal. Not bad for a western breakfast in Hong Kong. Not great either. I've had better western breakfast in Shanghai, though you would think Hong Kong being the international hub it is, would have even higher standards for western foods. Eggs Benedict: 85HK. I went with an Eggs Guacamole and a mango juice and I thought it was all pretty awesome overall. The food isn't overly expensive, you get fairly generous portions, and they definitely don't skimp on your free sides. The potatoes were a tad dry and I probably wouldn't go with them the next time around, but their grits aren't half bad. Hollandaise sauce is thick, yet runny, and the eggs were poached perfectly. The guacamole was offered in generous portions, and the only thing that I could possibly say they weren't generous with, in terms of portion size was my juice. That's fine though. I'll definitely be back to try a few other menu items.
