Spread out over one kilometer, you'll go from the red/purple towards the black-and-white zone and every single piece simply is just as amazing as the other. It mostly really just is a park without trees, but with colorful art instead. So don't expect too much - but I promise you: if you're into (street)art or awesome backgrounds for your Instagram-photos ;) - go here!

When I moved back to Denmark I realized that that was not the case here! Cemeteries are used a lot as a park here. Assistens Cemetery is a beautiful place though, so I can see why it's used so much as a park! Whenever I'm in the area I absolutely love to come here for a little stroll and sometimes if the weather is good, sit on the grass with some friends enjoying the weather. The famous Hans Christian Andersen is buried here as well and they have signs directing you to his grave.

I was on a bit of a time schedule to see all the things I wanted to see before they all closed, so instead of getting to relax and enjoy the park like I wanted to, I ended up using it as a shortcut/walk-through option to get to the places I was going. I am so glad I did, because it is absolutely gorgeous. There is a castle to see (but not to visit...it looks like it is home to official offices and the website indicates tours two times per month), paths and ponds and canals and so much greenery! I wish I could have explored the whole park and spent the entire afternoon there. It was clean and beautiful. If nothing else, you should walk through the park to get from the Storm P. and Satire museum area to get to the Cisterne (which is an ABSOLUTE MUST SEE). The paths are clear and easy to follow. It is advertised as a romantic garden park, and that name seems very appropriate. There is lush, beautiful green everywhere, with flowering plants throughout. Several little lakes and cute bridges are found throughout. Swans, ducks, geese, pigeons, and seagulls were found in many places.There was an area for kids with many young families gathered for some special event the night we were there. At another part of the park, it looked like people were arriving for a concert of some kind later that night. There were a lot of people enjoying the park, but it never felt overwhelmingly crowded, as the park is so big. If I lived in Copenhagen, this park would be a regular for me.

And also put some flowers to make it look nice. I think it's such a nice touch to this empty space that was left empty for 7 years after the revolutionary fight and demolition of the building that once stood there. This garden even has a Facebook group where you can see events that are happening there and see when you can go and help with something. Children are happy about this small growing green area and have also helped in the making! It's such a random little garden you should take a look at! These things are only in Copenhagen! Oh! And the mayor has backed finally up this activity and made it legal!

In the interior of the castle, visitors may see Christian IV's bedchamber and other rooms, the Treasury with the Danish crown jewels, etcetera. I unfortunately did not have tickets to tour the inside of the castle, but based on online photos, I really wish that I had bought tickets so I could see the historic, fancy rooms. I did, however, spend much time walking around the exterior of the castle. The architecture looked gorgeous. Then I walked through the garden, for which I wrote a separate Yelp review, and then I saw the moat with fish and the drawbridge leading to the castle. I recommend that tourists visit this castle.
