Getting here is a bit off the beaten path but this neighborhood is up and coming. I see it was how Williamsburg was before it blew up. In fact noma is just down the block. FYI, Amass was here first. We got the tasting menu with wine pairing so there were many dishes. The highlights were definitely the beef tongue and goose. The beef tongue was perfectly tender and the wild goose was beautifully tender. I can't say enough about their bread. It's like their version of a sour dough brioche that has been finished off on the grill. And the dip that it comes with is crack. The best part is you can have as much of it as you like. The wine pairings also went very well with the courses. It really complemented the dishes perfectly. And after dinner, you can even sit in their garden with a warm fire pit. If you have a chance, make a reservation to Amass. You won't be disappointed.

It seems to be the hottest ticket in town and I thought we weren't going when the waitlist opened up. Lucky us... On the border of Frederiksberg/Nørrebro, it took over the old Gilt bar space. As the menu goes along you then see the breakdown of expertise... Relæ is almost an indescribable flavor experience that often presented things on paper that didn't make sense but were ultimately delicious. It qa often challenging in the best possible way but I do know some who found it inedible. But one likes what one likes. At Jatak the techniques of Relæjave been made leas challenging if one has tried Chinese cuisine specifically from the Cantonese canon. Luckily I grew ip where the two best Chinese places were Cantonese and so I was exposed to a base understanding of the cuisine "s traditional flavors. Plays on the Cantonese pastries, steamed fish, wontons, etc are smattered throughout with a plethora of Danish ingredients and sometimes the melding of techniques. It's a concise and light menu though, not the gut busting examples of dim sum, chow fun, claypots and such ive experienced where i grew up. Not that the latter is a bad thing it's just sometimes you don't want to be comatose after. Beautiful food, delicious intriguing flavors , and a great overall experience. Customers came in all ranges and it was cool to see a late Sunday night full of food enthusiasts

What a wonderful last meal in Copenhagen…read more We opted for the tasting menu, which is 7 courses and does not include (if you're looking at the regular menu) the octopus, squid, and honey toast. I was a bit bummed about the octopus and squid being not included, but in the end I truly forgot about it as the other dishes were so great. The place itself is quiet, simple ambiance. The staff is extremely friendly, especially the host who also delivered some of the food. Not sure if we came on a quieter night, as there was about 75% of tables filled. The food itself-exceptional. A favorite for us was the seafood tartare and the oysters. The baked langoustine was hyped a bit when it was delivered but was probably our least favorite. A bit of work for not that much reward. But then the whole fish came and it was so wonderfully buttered/cooked that it revived us. And then the sorbet with the merengue- just such a lovely final course. I have to comment on the bathroom, as it was just so random. Overhead was playing what I recognized to be a comedy special from Netflix. Couldn't place exactly which comic it was or where I recognized it from, but I found this to be such a strange choice. Laughed about it on the way back to the table.

The outdoor seating was pretty packed, and the sandwiches looked amazing, so we decided to try it! I'm so glad we did. Although we didn't see any English menus, we were able to translate the menu on our phones without a problem. We ordered our food inside, and everything was prepared quickly. We ordered three Burrata sandwiches, a jamón sandwich, and an order of fries. Everything was delicious! The sandwiches were very large and packed with fresh ingredients. The fries were crispy and came with some kind of an aioli-like dip. Plenty of outdoor seating at this restaurant and you order inside at the bar using your table number, which you can find at your table. The bathrooms are interestingly covered in sticky notes left behind by previous customers. Very fun to look through!

We got the 7 course tasting menu. What we especially enjoyed was that each dish was a understated celebration of the ingredients. For example, one of the dishes was two different types of radishes with a wonderful butter sauce. The sauce brought out the smooth flavor of the radishes. Another dish was a cabbage roll while had different leaves such as lettuce, kale, cabbage with a white sauce. Once again, sauces did not dominate but complimented the ingredients. Perhaps our favorite dish was a simple dish of perfectly cooked potatoes with a horseradish sauce. Dessert was great - a birch ice cream over rhubarb and a chocolate mousse with cookies on top. Again, very deftly done, nothing too overpowering. We loved this meal and really spent the time enjoying every bite. I took a photo of each course!

Noma was almost entirely out of question (getting a reservation here is tougher than winning the lottery, or at least, seemingly so). Relæ was closed on Sunday's and Monday's. So, we went with Manfreds--sister restaurant of Relæ, opened everyday of the week from 12noon to 10p. We had a reservation at 6p on a Sunday for a group of 6, and we opted to sit outside at the shared sidewalk tables. All of us went with the Chef's Choice (7 small dishes for sharing) and we split a Size M Manfreds Tartare. Staying true to their motto: "Manfreds - (probably) the world's only veggie-focused restaurant famous for its raw meat," the Chef's Choice largely focused on seasonable vegetables and ingredients, with a few meat and fish dishes thrown in. Most of us are meat lovers, but each dish was a deeply satisfying collision of tastes and textures, and we only got more impressed with these veggie-based dishes as dinner went on. And while 7 dishes, 8 dishes if you include the Manfreds Tartare, doesn't sound or seem like a whole lot of food, we were stuffed by the end. Benedict, our server, checked up on us promptly and regularly. At one point during our meal, she divulged that the chefs at Manfreds all have 'floor shifts' when they serve, rather than cook, once a week to gain a better perspective on their customers--and she happened to be doing hers that night. I absolutely loved dinner at Manfreds. Benedict, sorry, if I got your name wrong, but you were absolutely delightful; super fun and informative. Manfreds is nestled in the cozy neighborhood of Jægersborggade in Nørrebro--just right outside the usual touristy areas of Copenhagen. The food was fresh, and often surprised us with unexpected flavors. This was a first time visit, but definitely not last for me!
