The food was just spectacular! So many options and such creative spins that tasted out of this world. Everything was served hot and fresh. My guests RAVED all night long about how amazing the food was. Several took food home and the texts rolled in the next day as well. On top of that, the staff was just amazing. So personable, friendly, accommodating, while working quickly and efficiently. Everyone enjoyed hanging out and talking with them while ordering. My party truly would not of been the same without them there. I will definitely use Smash Time again and highly recommend!

Came here on Walnut Wednesday. From a Cleveland.com article, I had heard that Smash Time and SWAT…read moreburgers were two new food trucks coming to Walnut Wednesday. I specifically sought out to try one of them. SWAT's menu specializes in stuffed burgers and they have some very creative options. I was looking for something lighter and healthier so I went with Smash Time. Their menu consists of different taco variations + apps like bacon wrapped pierogies and Rockefeller frites. I wasn't in love with the prices (apps were $6 and tacos sold 2 for $10 or 3 for $12) as it prohibited me from trying an app along with a taco without spending at least $16 on lunch. Comparatively, SWAT appeared to be priced well with unique burger creations ranging from $8 to $10 along with $3 sides. I ordered the gangnam style tacos with roast pork, kimchi and chili sauce. The pork was flavorful, but it felt like a taco I could make myself at home. Nothing really stood out from the large, competitive taco game - normal flour tortilla, some cabbage and what tasted like store bought chili sauce. It was ok but it did not make me wanna dance gangnam style. I would be back to try the rockefeller frites (the lady in front ordered them and they looked awesome), but I won't seek this food truck out specifically amongst the bunch.

FOOD: We both ordered pork empanadillas. They were good but the meat felt too soupy. I also ordered guava empanadilla. I liked the guava filling but felt that the dough felt too fried/oily. Portions were generous in terms of empanada size. I want to sing praises to Tropical Coco (Coconut Soda). It was the perfect hint of coconut and subtle sweetness. My friend and I decided to find and order this soda somewhere. SERVICE: More pleasant than it should be at a food trucks. Great hospitality. We were even called by our first names. Service was also quite quick. VALUE: The menu goes up to $16. Most items are priced at $12. $6 per piece is a bit pricey for empanadas compared to local restaurants but this was also event pricing. I'd visit Island City again. Next time I'd like to taste Island Sandwich. Another coconut soda for me of course as well!!!
