The server brought a complimentary small plate of baked (?) pizza dough in the shape of triangles to start. We ordered their cheese board which came with a tiny pitcher of honey and blueberries and almonds. 4 or 5 different cheeses: Parmesan, a smoky one that was good, Brie and two others I can't remember. For main dishes we tried the rigatoni allá vodka and two meatballs and the pasta alla carbonara with chicken. Pasta was fresh and everything was good. Carbonara could have used a little bit of salt but that's neither here nor there. Unfortunately we didn't try their desserts or pizzas so we will be going back for that. Street parking is available, just plan ahead. Specially on weekends.

But I was still light on my feet (pre-falafal) so was able to play live Frogger like a G. On to the food. I had a falafal sandwich. What's very nice is the owner literally scoops fresh falafal into balls and fries them up on the spot. The result is a moist falafal that's still lightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The falafal is a bit hard to eat and it's messy, from the huge dollop of tahina sauce that dresses the top of the sandwich. But I like saucy food so that's not a problem for me, plus I was impressed the pita held up all the way until the end of my meal. Wow. When I make this at home my pita turns into a soggy and ripped mess every. single. time. Inside the (very fresh) pita is falafal of course, Israeli salad, and hummus. What could have make this better? Something tangy or sour to to play against the other flavors. I would have enjoyed a pickle of some sort in there. This one falafal filled me up real good and I was starving. And for less than $8 that's a good deal these days. I have no doubt this food is authentic. The owner is Israeli and looks like he's been working with falafal since back in the day. And the restaurant itself is very new, clean, and nice looking. Why not check it out? Just look both ways before crossing the street, and never, never ever, try running across Hallandale with a stomach full of falafal. (I was between 4 and 5 stars and with a few more choices for toppings I think this would a slam dunk 5-star. But Yelp doesn't allow 4.5 stars and with room for improvement I can't give 5 stars.)

Having multiple sauces on the table with unlimited servings really elevated the meal and honestly might be one of the main reasons this place is doing so well. The raw sauce is absolutely a hit and adds a lot to the food. Another detail that deserves credit is the silverware. Real, sturdy silverware instead of plastic is a big deal and shows good intention and effort toward a proper dining experience. That said, the biggest issue here has nothing to do with flavor and everything to do with hygiene. There were a lot of hiccups that were hard to ignore. When we were seated, the server literally scraped rice off the table with her finger, and it was very clear that her hands were not clean. The window next to us was visibly dirty, which immediately set a tone that cleanliness was not being prioritized. Throughout the visit, we noticed gloves being used for multiple tasks without being changed. The same gloves were used to handle food, touch surfaces, and manage front-of-house duties. At one point, sauces were being prepped in the lobby while the same person was also managing customers, which was honestly pretty disgusting to watch. Food prep should not be happening out in the open like that, especially while also handling orders. We also noticed rice being scooped with gloves that had clearly been used for other tasks, including touching surfaces and tool areas. It felt very mass-production and careless, which is frustrating because the food itself is actually really good. The staff was genuinely nice and clearly trying, but friendliness does not cancel out hygiene concerns. Cleanliness is non-negotiable, especially in a place that serves food this well and charges the prices it does. The price point already feels a little high, particularly for rice, so when cleanliness slips, it becomes harder to justify. Overall, this is one of those places where the food is strong enough to earn praise, but the hygiene issues hold it back from being a top-tier spot. The flavors, sauces, beef and lamb koobideh, and even the silverware show real potential. If they can tighten up their cleanliness, glove usage, and food handling practices, this could easily be a five-star place. They even offer the Turkish coffee on sand. The owner is extremely welcoming and kind. He answered all the questions we had about the treats. Everything we tried was delicious and fresh.
