The hotel was reasonably clean, but housekeeping was inconsistent--limited mostly to just making the bed, and the bathroom wasn't refreshed. The location was good, although not in the city center, it's very close to the Zuid metro station. While in our room, housekeeping somehow damaged my electric toothbrush, which was unsettling given that the bathroom wasn't even cleaned. When I brought this to the manager's attention, she was defensive and insisted they would need a receipt and to speak with staff before even considering compensation. At that point, it didn't feel worth pursuing. Overall, it was an average stay. Nothing was terrible, but with other hotels offering equal or better service for a similar price, I would explore other options next time.

I really enjoyed my room and stay at the hotel overall. The interior of the room is luxurious and the bed is comfortable as typical for Crown Plaza hotel. Each room offer tea and coffee, and I really like the tea selection and quality of tea they offered. The bathroom is bright, spacious and modern. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk to the metro Amsterdam Zuid. Staff was professional. This area is more of a business area, close by there are some good eats including Breakfast Club and Circl restaurant, as well as a market just 3 minutes away!

My work booked me here for a months stay and oh wow!!! this place was truly amazing. It's so hip,…read moreand happening, am very happy got to experience it and my main reason for choosing it was because there was a direct bus from the bus stop outside which dropped me off near my work building in 35mins! So I guess having good intentions does matter. So why the love for this place? Well first let my start off with the lovely staff. I arrived at noon and check-in wasn't till 3pm. I was jet-lagged, tired, smelly and in desperate need of a hot shower and a place to rest. Nimka, at reception totally emphasized, called house-keeping and 45 mins later my room was available. The hotel's owner was also happy to supply me with a resident letter which was super essential for me to register with Amsterdam Town Hall and without which, I wouldn't have been able to work. Also Carlo at the front desk, later on in my stay checked that I was happy and when I mentioned the smell of the soup was fairly aggressive for me, since I'm a wee bit sensitively artificial smells, they got a neutral scent soap for me! Just saying! Moving on to the room - oh la la!! It's modern hipster living design elements at its best. Any Brooklynite's reading this review would totally want to live in this space! Everything (including the kitchen sink!) has its place and yet the room walked super spacious. I had a side view of the street and loved the blackout curtains so could sleep comfortably in the massive bed. The headboard was too cute / it's shape profile was like an Amsterdam canal house! The kitchen was thoughtfully stocked with pots/ pans/ baking dish/ cutlery etc. No toaster but I used the pan and excellent coffee plus tea machine. Tons of storage space and a lovely + comfy couch. Loved the thoughtfully curated books about Amsterdam that were in the bookshelf as well as the side table. Gadget-wise too, this hotel rocks! All the light switches are dimmers! If you press down on the switch longer, it becomes brighter! There are two usb chargers built-in next to the bedside table, which is super convenient. Also, the shower in the bathroom was fantastical! They had a rain shower which just melted away all my travel dirt and it was super refreshing to use, with great water pressure. The hand-held shower has 3 settings which it was super easy to toggle between. The tiles were delft blue and so u totally got the Dutch feeling. BTW, did I mention how spacious it was? Other amenities that impressed me was the sauna and the gym. There is a restaurant also attached with Movenpick Ice-cream!! This is my fave brand of ice-cream in the world! Ben & Jerrys!?! Pshaw! Movenpick's where it is at! Silky, smooth, buttery - make sure u try this ice-cream at the restaurant if u stay here. Btw, this place is also so well located, it's a short 20min tram ride to Amsterdam Central aka the touristy got spot but it's lovely to come back to this hotel and get away from the crowds and wind down and chillax. Other things I like about the place: - the Braille language in the elevator - the bowl of oranges near the elevator lobby - the wonderful cinnamon candy you get as a gift - the laundry facilities include soap and they also have hanging racks Overall absolutely recommend if you are looking for a cool and hip hotel in a great location for a short trip or even a long stay! We were able to find a last minute room here, and the rest was history. This hotel is modern, spacious, and delightfully new. We loved our room - from the techie-friendly way to open the door (don't worry - really easy!) to the modern bathroom with huge waterfall shower. The bed was very comfortable with two USB ports on each side for easy charging. There was even a stocked Nespresso machine in the mini-kitchen! The surrounding area was nice, with plenty of food in walking distance and the tram right out front. We were able to hop on the tram to get into the main city or head to the airport! (We did both.) I wish we had taken more photos, because this place is so cool that you have to see it to believe it. We will absolutely return to Amsterdam, if only to stay here. Long story short? Choose this one! Like a cherry on top, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended stay to anyone visiting Holland!

I say this because all rooms have a clear glass shower in the middle of the room and toilet is also placed within frosted glass sliding doors (see pics). Approaching the hotel, it's very conveniently located for public transit, about 6-7 minutes walk from the Amsterdam Zuid train and metro station, where trams and buses also stop. The area directly around the hotel is mostly residential so street parking is also available. A ramp or a few stairs lead down to the front entrance, and a Jeff Koons balloon dog statue greets you in the foyer, followed to the left by a casual table set up of self-check-in, semi-assisted with friendly staff that come over if they see you looking confused. I appreciated that the entire process was pretty simple, at each iPad station you scan your own key card from a stash of cards to work for your room, also you're allowed to check-in early as long as a room is available. I arrived at 10am and was able to go up to my room right away which was a plus. The rest of the lobby area consists of plenty of seating, a couple dining tables with benches around a central bar/kitchen area, where snacks, drinks (alcoholic and non) and light meals area available to order. Filtered tap or sparkling water also available for all customers to self-serve fill up glass jugs and bring up to your room. Shared co-working and lounge spaces in the lobby were also very colorful and stylish. Staff are willing and able to help with inquiries. The hallways and my room were pretty clean, I wiped a little dust off the desk and bathroom shelves. The bed is very comfortable, (and probably this and the relative ease of public transit are the reasons I would stay here again,) king sized though it's against the window. Pillows were better than most hotels I've recently stayed at. Control for the thermostat, TV, lights, blinds (both day blinds and blackout blinds) are controlled via iPad. TV controls were a bit temperamental, sometimes it wouldn't work or there was a lag, the TV shut off a couple times and I couldn't turn it back on. WiFi was consistent and strong. If you're not familiar with Citizen M they incorporate a lot of witty/humorous content in their presentation so expect to see some of this in the signs and branding around the hotel. Getting to the parts I really didn't like: 1) the lack of privacy by using a glass shower with white curtains that are basically see-thru, and toilet incorporated into the room--really convenient if you're staying with a friend and you want to see them nude, or hear their bathroom functions. For the rest of us, well...not as much. 2) very nice to have a rainforest shower in a small room like this, however aside from aforementioned privacy issues, it's hard to clean and even with good ventilation the humidity will get caught in the shower, resulting in black mold in the sliding shower door tracks both above and below. 3) because the sink is also in the middle of the room, whenever you use it, water inevitably splashes out even being very careful, so you have to wipe it up to avoid tracking dirt and dust all around the room. 4) the room is quite small so if you have anything more than a carryon suitcase there's not much room to open your luggage, also very minimal hanger space, just a few hooks and a few hangers provided. 5) safe in my room didn't work. I kept things locked in my suitcase and was ok. 6) only two outlets in the room, which can be a challenge if you have more than one person needing to charge a few items overnight at the same time. 7) whenever I entered the room the window blinds would automatically open, which I found annoying bc I would have to close them again. The room I was in faced other residential buildings so I didn't particularly want people seeing into my room. 8) last but not least, I'm not sure who decided to place the toilet paper roll dispenser on the the left upper side edge of a toilet with an abnormally high back--imagine trying to reach a foot over your left shoulder or contorting your body at an extremely unnatural bent-over angle to reach and tear off the necessary several squares each time after you use the bathroom...sigh. Or maybe this toilet paper dispenser was built for tall people, not us with the short arms. For some the positives might balance out the negatives, which was generally the case with my stay, and I would consider staying again. However I would also check what other hotels are available next time before booking this as a back up.

I was pleasantly surprised that it was everything they stated and even more. I felt right at home. Everything was clean, and I felt safe and secure as a solo traveler. I had everything I needed for my first experience in a different country. I even had a complete kitchen, which I hadn't expected. The hotel was connected to a shopping mall with not just one but two different grocery stores. It made it easy to stock up on water, snacks, and other essentials to place in my room during my stay. My first experience with Vladi (front desk staff) put things over the top for me. He was professional, incredibly informative, warm, and congenial. His helpfulness made me feel valued as a person and as a Marriott Bonvoy member. Vladi provided me with a wealth of recommendations throughout my stay and even shared about the President's Birthday weekend festivities, which I knew nothing about when I booked the reservation. Thanks to his guidance, I could navigate and get the lay of the land while I was there. Thank you again. I highly recommend this hotel to others looking to stay in Amsterdam. But since we were…read moreonly in Amsterdam for one night before going to another part of the Netherlands, I wanted to try the Element here since I have had such a positive experience with Elements back in the U.S. Was fortunate enough to be granted an upgrade to a Superior room before even coming here due to my status. Gotta say that these I love booking these American-style hotels in Europe, because there really is very little difference in the rooms compared to home aside from the European power outlets (and the one in the living room area can accommodate North American and U.K. outlets!). Overall, a very modern and comfortable room and very on par with what I would expect from an Element back home. Maybe a tad smaller, but it is Europe after all. Also not sure why the shower was a half wall/half non-wall design, never been a fan of that. Being an Element, breakfast was included. It's basically a small breakfast buffet in the restaurant that's attached to the hotel. Not bad, but nothing to write home about. Staff here are really friendly, no complaints from me. Check in and check out were very easy. Only issue was that housekeeping doesn't seem to exist at night, so I wasn't able to get some of my requests fulfilled late night. Location is where the hotel lacks a bit. Don't get me wrong, it's in a great neighborhood in the Zuidas Business District. It's attached to the Gelderlandplein shopping mall, which has an Albert Hejin and several stores in there. Hell, it's across from an international school. But aside from that, the hotel is basically surrounded by residential and office buildings. The closest Metro stop that gets into Centraal area is a 15 minute walk away. This is an issue as well since Uber hasn't been particularly reliable in Amsterdam unless you are near Centraal. Made me feel very isolated. Not sure how much parking is because I was on vacation. Same for knowing where the gym is, I wasn't about to hit the gym since I was on vacation. Although it's not super new, the hotel is very well kept. Only shame is that it's so far from the Metro. Otherwise, I would be more willing to stay here in the future.

Our group of 50 booked it out, and the entire hotel is quite beautiful. Centrally located across from the Convention Center and near the Metro, we found it very convenient for our four day stay. The staff were friendly, and efficient checking our group in on the second floor; brilliant. The rooms are interesting: long hallway into a room with two single beds right next to one another. There were two of us (women) and it was a bit cozy. There are many amenities: including a lovely espresso machine to start the day before you head up to the 17th floor, gorgeous view for a spectacular breakfast buffet. The staff are very friendly, but if you don't tell them while you are away from the table gathering more goodies they will clear your table in a blink. Happened to me twice, before I got wise. The buffet includes everything you could hope or imagine for breakfast which is my favorite meal of the day. A waffle bar, granola bar, glass shelves display of charcuterie, English breakfast complete with scrambled eggs, beans, tomatoes and sausages. Two capuchino stations, one completely plant based, and you can make as many as you like. If you prefer to take food with you, that is an option as well. The hotel has a restaurant, and a lovely bar. Food at the restaurant has a limited menu but there are many eateries near by to choose from for dinner. My only comment to improve my stay I would have liked to have had a luggage rack as my large suitcase had to go on the floor. This is a boutique hotel I don't think most of their guests bring a great deal of luggage. The bathroom was beautiful with a raindrop shower in a wonderful glass enclosed area. You need to utilize the door to the hallway if you want to keep the water in the shower. Lots of warm comfy towels are available if you ask for them. There is also a towel warmer on the wall. Nice touch. I am not completely sure how this hotel compares price wise with others but its uniqueness in decor makes it stand out. For artist enthusiasts be sure to check out the second floor; lots of places to sit and enjoy your stay while enjoying the decor.
