Been open a week after being remodeled. It's completely different than before but not sure I like it any more, than before. I didn't think anything was wrong with the previous Base Camp minus the minor was A LOT SMALLER and limited access. I guess the ambience is better with the huge screen showing seems of the Zugspitze. The wings definitely aren't as good and are certainly smaller. An Old Fashion is now $18!! All the prices seem high(er) to me. The place is decent for a hotel food/bar in a niche community. They play sports, they serve beer, the food is decent. We had a reservation for a Friday night as I didn't know how busy it would be. Is it amazing? No. But it's good enough and it's nice for kids to have a place where they aren't served water in a wine glass and they have to be super quiet. The chicken tacos were the best things we ordered and the Cesar salad was HUGE. My poor daughter put a dent in it but that wasn't much. read more

Such a let down ... food wise. I ordered something I never thought someone could mess up! Chicken tenders! It came out horrible! It was like burnt fried chicken pieces, the batter was the worst thing I could have imagined. You'd think for the prices of all the food it'd actually come out good. Also, their margaritas... mmmmmm yeah no. It was like drinking salt and lime juice. No alcohol what so ever. It was gross. I would definitely choose to eat at a place right outside of the base. There was a recent remodeling that I find takes away from the ambiance that was achieved from the previous layout. This is subjective and I will focus on the quality I have observed from the all the years I have gone to Zuggy's. For what they charge the food across the board is poor at best. Maybe mediocre at its finest. I have eaten there multiple times now and I probably never will again. A stamp on the bun of a "classic" $12 burger doesn't make it taste good. Fries were cold. Another time I tried beef tacos. The "beef" was probably 2-3 days old as it clumped together. They clearly need to order or know how to season the meat as well. It was the worst taco meat I have ever tasted. Unfortunately, for my palate, I was starving. They have chips and salsa. The salsa was like some weird tomato bisque. It's a bit ridiculous what they are charging for mixed drinks and hard liquor. On a bright note, the servers were very nice and helpful. After decades of going to Zuggy's it's sad to see the quality dip to this level, especially after a "remodeling". They are clearly focused on the fact that their guests are stuck with this option unless they want to go local. I would advise this though. Soooo much better food out on the economy. If you want to have a beer to watch the game it's fine, but the amount they gouge for subpar food is a shame, especially for somewhere that's supposed to serve the military community. The leadership at the Edelweiss should eat there and try to accomplish some quality and consistency or, if they have, question their taste buds. read more

Came yo watch the World Cup...Excited to actually take time off and relax. Game started at 1600 and hit Zuggy's at 1610 for a beer and game. Unfortunately they do not open till 1700. Door locked and staff looked up yet no one came to door. Can easily see the staff sitting in a booth playing on phones while a gent sets up tables. Even bartender is done prepping and still they sit...ignoring the now 7 people at the door. At least can watch the game from the outside. At 1655, we had about 12-14 people ready to go in. Got to observe the staff suddenly moving and rearranging furniture. Kind hostess let us know at 1701 that would be a few moments as staff still setting up. Not sure why the couldnt have set up during their 30min sit-a-thon. Door opens and I am welcomed inside and I immediately notice as I am walking in that they are raising the big screen DURING the World Cup match many people were there to watch. I have never seen a sports bar so anti-major sporting event. I said my piece and guided my server to sit me where I could see the game. Now service was good...food and drink hugely not. Been in Germany 5 yrs and know German beer. Beer was skunky...like how people. Wings were good. Cheese dip was diluted with chicken stock of all things. Chips stale so the Onion ring chicken stock cheese dip paired well. Family showed up and they were not impressed. Thankfully no food poisoning for them like my friends last week. Ok so management was zero stars, hostess seemed to regret life decisions, serving staff were awesome and only highpoint of experience. Now gotta figure out where to watch the final. read more

Find another place, this will either ruin your romantic vacation or just add more stress to your already stressful life. The service is slow, menu is limited (it's bar food), and the food is tastes bland. Not sure how else to tell you...you can do better..:.maybe try the McDonalds! read more

Ya know I'm a bit surprised by some of the lower ratings here. Don't get me wrong, it's certainly no Taj Mahal, but it's nice enough. Furthermore, just think about it for a moment, they enjoy an exclusive, and at times, almost held-at-ransom audience, yet they still deliver. They could be mailing it in every night, but they don't. They still try their best at providing good grub at good prices in a good atmosphere. What more do you want? They offer those beer towers for those seriously interested in getting their drink on. A nice selection of both German and American beer, wine and a full service bar. I thought our service was great, in fact! We ordered a pizza; BTW, I almost abandoned my daughter when she uttered the words, "There's too much cheese on it." I know, right? Can you imagine the shame I felt? Good thing it was a bit loud in there and no one outside the family heard her. Anyway, after that frightening moment, we proceeded to enjoy the nachos that weren't bad, and my wife liked her wings. So on future trips to Edelweiss, we'll return, and so should you. read more

If you are staying in Edelweiss this place is extremely convenient. With that being said, the food is Mediocre-not wonderful but not horrible either. The alcoholic beverages are wonderfully priced, especially during the happy hour (5-7pm). I would recommend this place to people who are craving American bar food and not interested in going on an adventure for a bite to eat. read more

The service was good but most of the food tasted like it was from the commissary. My family and I ate there our first night and then tried to eat there again for dinner after spending some time in the pool. I asked for a to-go order (as it's offered) but was told that the kitchen was overwhelmed and they weren't offering to-go orders at the moment. I was offered a table in the dining area though. As I was in a swimsuit, I declined and got some over priced sandwiches from the coffee shop next door. The positives would be their waiter/waitress service, the beer selection and the hot wings were pretty good. Overall, it was okay but I would recommend that you eat off post for better food. read more

Great hidden gem.... Lots of good food, service and beverages...

The staff of the hotel was excellent. But the staff of zuggys base camp was the worst I have ever delt with. They asked to see my service animal's paper work, when I had told them the dog was a service animal. Even off base or in the states this isn't a issue. They were very busy but took the time to come over to my table two separate times to make a issue even though children were inside the establishment with out shirts on, people would come directly from the pool dripping with pool water but were given a tabel. The second time with a Male wait staff in a attempt to intimidate me. I had to get a manger from the up stairs hotel staff to explain to the young staff that my dog was a service animal and I didnt need to be harrassed. The manager of Ziggy's came over later and spoke to me but was rude and disrespectfully says her employee felt "uncomfortably" when I was speaking to her. This is supposed to be a place where people can come relax, not where people get harassment about a service animal. read more
