This seems more like a branding opportunity than a coffee shop. It's really an OK place; I'd visit…read morehere again, but I'd also probably try a few other places in town first. The vibes are strong here. It nails its rustic atmosphere and has a nice patio to sit out on. It's close-ish to the river, but you're mostly looking at a parking lot. All the other wares very much match the country-chic I think this is going for. I got very much the feeling of "we want to be a Magnolia of Colorado" from this place. Many of the items on sale referenced Root itself, trying to make fetch happen. As for what we got, we got some coffee, smoothies, and sweet tea. I also had one of their energy balls. Pricing was a bit on the high end, even for Pagosa. What was most absurd to me was how much my sweet tea was. Yes, it was good. But for that price, I was expecting a much larger cup. I was left thirsty. It's literally the cheapest thing you could make and not some secret recipe requiring expertise; for that price point I expected more to slurp on. The energy ball was tasty. The coffee, I'm told, was OK. The smoothies matched their price point and tasted fresh.

What a lovely place to go for not only brunch but much more. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and…read moreinviting. Brunch options are the most well known but I think they'd be good for other meal times too. I personally got the Liege Belgian waffle with strawberries, banana, and whip cream and I thought it was absolutely amazing. The pearl sugar, the textures, and flavors! One of my favorite waffles I've ever had. I will be thinking about this whenever I crave a waffle in the future. Just the right amount of sweetness and crunch! My friend got the Hash Smash bowl. I got to taste a small bite and I found the aioli sauce to be delicious. Speaking of sauces, they have hot sauce buckets with a bunch of different ones to try. I found that very nice that they offer that and let people try a bunch of sauces they otherwise might not have had that chance to try otherwise. Also very interesting and unexpected that they happen to have boba drinks in this part of town. FYI though, their boba isn't soaked in syrup so it's bland if your drink isn't quite sugar heavy enough itself. Highly recommend the restaurant look into that and soak their bobas to take the drinks to the next level. Lastly, their menu seems to change quite often and the pics on yelp don't reflect the current menu anymore. You may see dishes/drinks missing or on there that you didn't expect.

We called ahead to find out if pups were welcome and were told they were…read more We were welcomed in. We were offered a sample of their slushy while we chose our flight selections. We each did a flight of five from what was available. I had the "My Morning Coffee, a "semi-sweet" from the selections of meads. It really did not have any sweetness at all and was quite dry. I tried the Choke Cherry Wine, Feel Better Berry, Baco Noir and Cabernet. Choke Cherry was tart without sweet. Feel Better Berry was cloying. Baco Noir was dry as was the Cabernet, which had a slightly astringent undertone. The ambiance is much more casual than a typical winery tasting room. Flights are served in plastic cups written on in sharpie. We were regaled with stories of the tasting room cat bringing its various conquests back into the building for the owner to find. I don't believe I would return for the products.

We each ordered a wine tasting, with five pours (1 oz each) from a wide selection of fruit wines and meads ($8 each), and then shared them in order to taste all ten! We enjoyed the wines, and especially the honey mead, and purchased an extra bottle (750 ml, $25) to take with us. Jim, the friendly proprietor, also gave us a taste of their wine slushees, and we ordered a plate of excellent, and fully loaded and reasonably priced, nachos. Yellow Car, and Cortez Colorado, is a convenient stop for tourists on route to Mesa Verde National Park, and even Arches which we had just visited. For any RVers out there, Yellow Car participates in the Harvest Hosts program, with reservation.
