The food took quite a while to come out considering there were no more than 14 people in the restaurant. Server was nice and answered the questions we had. BBQ ribs: 3.5/5 tender and fall off the bone. The flavour was ok. The sauce was good but the meat itself wasn't flavored well without the sauce. Chicken liver parfait: 5/5 this was my highlight. Generous portion of liver. Beautifully plated with sweet, savoury, components including different textures. Bread was soft, fluffy and warm. Jamaican jerk chicken rice ice bowl: 2/5 Came a bit confusing. We had to clarify with the sever that this was indeed the jerk chicken bowl. Nothing screamed Jamaican. It was more Taiwanese fried chicken with a kicked up Tabasco sauce on top of Chinese fried rice with a bit of dry jerk seasoning sprinkled into it. Flavor wise, it wasn't bad but Jamaican jerk flavours it was not. For $26 I wanted full Jamaican flavours. Would I come back? Probably not. Would I stop people from going? Also probably not.

The place is a round log frame building that is quite spectacular inside of you are a log fan. This time of year in Parksville is pretty quiet, most places make hay in the summer and shutter for the slow season All of our food was delicious, prepared with care. Now to be fair there was hardly anyone in the place other than us five, so the kitchen wasn't slammed with people. That all said we enjoyed a wonderful, if somewhat pricey dinner, that would bring us back again!

He asked if we had called earlier and we said no. He said he had a table but he would need it for a 7pm booking they had and if that was ok. It was about 530 so that was plenty of time for us to finish and we accepted the table. We ordered seafood chowder, oyster Rockefeller, seafood sampler, and a lobster tail. Everything we had tasted wonderful. The rice pilaf that came with the sampler was cooked perfectly. Beautiful rice separation, nice mixture of celery, carrots, wild rice and either leek or onion; nicely seasoned. The halibut and salmon were cooked nicely and had a lovely cream sauce. Veggies nice and al dente. Oyster Rockefeller tasty and fresh. Lobster cooked beautifully, was tender and with hot butter to dip was lush. Seafood chowder was the right texture and consistency, not too thin not to thick and enough seafood to be proud of its name. For dessert the special of the night was a flourless chocolate torte served with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. That was delicious, not overly sweet and had a nice chocolate flavour and texture was nice and smooth. The service was impeccable, water was always filled and the manager or another server always asked if every thing was alright and or if we were happy. But also you can see with how busy it was they would go off to tend other tables. That being said the fact they take the time to ask and make sure you are taken care of is awesome. I've been to fine dining where the serve disappears and doesn't ever ask how things are until like the last 10 minutes. Overall for an impromptu dinner here we were pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I would recommend dining here if your in the area, reservations might be best as this was a Monday and they were packed.

I went here with my family as I haven't had Italian food in quite some time. The food was great but…read morethe service needed some work. Upon arrival it took quite a while to be seated. Living on Vancouver Island I think it's unreasonable to expect 5 star service from rural community's where the hiring pool is limited. The servers were not rude and instead quite nice, it just took a little longer to get things done. This place doesn't deserve 1 or 2 star reviews because of it. The food came out shockingly fast, same with the drinks. They provide a free bread basket as well which was a nice touch. Fettuccine Salmone: This was my first time trying a dish like this, It was very delicious but also very rich. I was very impressed at how generous the kitchen was with the salmon portion, I'm so used to restaurants being overly skimpy on seafood. Getting the platter for $47 is definitely the best value, serves two people with leftovers compared to a single serving for $30. The sauce was a little on the runny side but I didn't mind. Limoncello Spritzer: Nice summery drink, Could've used a bit more limoncello I thought for $13 but as someone who doesn't drink often I'm still gaging what's an appropriate price for different beverages. Atmosphere was nice and they had a good playlist of music.

The floors look to be original hardwood, and there are lots of beams and logs to see. I personally love the old style look, but it might not be to everyone taste. The service is quite good, our server especially, although it did seem like one individual was more interested in polishing glasses and not running food or bussing tables. He was a little passive aggressive with another staff member when he did run a couple of plates, came back and said "see that wasn't that hard." Not a good look. The food was quite good, although we felt, this time like the last, it was a little on the expensive side. It is quite a tourist mecca just outside of Parksville so that's likely part of the reason. It's also quite busy so clearly people are willing to pony up. We had the soup of the days Chantrelle mushroom soup. Evidently those mushroom are very plentiful in the area this time of year. It was quite good, creamy for sure, but we would have liked some more noticeable bits of mushroom. We also shared a Caprese salad which needed more balsamic and a little salt. The capers were a nice add. We finished with Margherita pizza which was nicely cooked and finished with fresh basil. Can't believe I am saying this, but there was too much cheese on it and maybe a little shy on the tomato sauce. Peroni beer on tap is a total winner for me. Have been twice, might go again, but likely not.

There are lots of parking available both the main lot or the side lot that takes you to the back of the restaurant. We got beef carpaccio, calamari dijonnaise, and lingcod to share, as well as a glass of red and white wine from Vancouver Island. We were served some small fish bites as amuse bouche which is a nice touch and pretty common in nice restaurants like this The beef carpaccio was super fresh and contrasts well with the texture of crispy sunchokes. Very aesthetic and well executed Calamari dijonnaise has a sharper flavor from the sauce, and the calamari is lightly battered but still crispy. A heartier dish for an upscale restaurant, but it works well as we were quite hungry after lots of walking that day Lingcod is more Asian fusion take of an entree, so I am a fan. The crispy rice is super flavorful albeit on the oilier side, and the cod itself is very fresh. Every bite has a bit of sophistication from all the ingredients around alongside fresh vegetables like pickled beet. The wine pairs well with the dishes. Service is excellent as I was very thirsty and the server kept up well with water refills. They clean up plates in between courses and checked up on us a few times and had a nice yet brief conversation to keep the energy flowing. Don't forget to take a walk outside before or after dinner! It's a small nice garden, quite romantic. Overall, I would recommend this place tucked in a bit away from Nanaimo, and it is worth the journey whether you rideshare or drive or transit.
