A regional chain, this place is definitely geared towards families with a menu of tacos and pizza...who doesn't love those?! The food is pretty ok, nothing special, nothing bad, gets the job done but is a little on the pricey side for what it is unless there's a special. The vibe of the place definitely pulls from a fishing shack, with a very outdoorsy design. The servers were nice enough and got the job done. Honestly nothing stand out I could think of. I consider it one of those places that I'm not opposed to going to but it's not my first pick in the area, unless it's one of the locations on the water...which this one is near, but i don't recall being able to see a view of it. read more

Well, the food is excellent, but the service was rough. Even after taking into account how busy it was, I think it could have been better. We placed our order to go and waited the expected hour before arriving to pick up. Upon arrival, the entire restaurant just seemed to be in chaos. There was no sign directing us where to pick up our order, so we had to wait 20 minutes in the incredibly long line of dine-in customers. I placed an order to go for the precise reason of being able to grab it, pay and go...otherwise I would have just dined in. I don't think that's an unreasonable expectation. Food was great, I loved the large menu offering unique versions of dishes. Chips and salsa were complimentary. The found the personal size to be absolutely perfect! My husband very much enjoyed his tacos. It was all excellent! If I'm ever in the area again, I'll happily stop by, just for the food. Maybe dine-in is the way to go here? We ran across Zorbaz while visiting Alexandria for a day. It looked like a cool hangout spot, a lot of people out on the patio. While ordering food & drinks at the bar it started to downpour outside which caused a rush of ppl to come inside & it became hectic a bit but the rain passed pretty fast & it calmed down. I order a personal pizza - cheese, jalapeños & banana peppers as well as a drink - Minnezota Margarita. My sister ordered the Macho Nachoz. The food was okay. The drinks were good. We seen a sign that they have a pool somewhere but when we adventured around we seen a sign saying it was closed. But overall very interesting. They also have a small gift shop. read more

This place is so much fun! We sat outside, so we didn't have any service. It was all self-serve (order at the bar, get your own drinks, etc.). The outdoor space was really nice. Very spacious and loved that half was covered and half wasn't. The inside is really big too and has a bunch of arcade games to play. As for the food, we started with the cheese bread, which was pretty standard, but still good! We got an assortment of pizzas and shared them--Zorbaz Club Za, Reuben, and Lowden Zpecial. The Club pizza was not great. It was a little bland and had way too much lettuce on it. The Reuben was better, but still wasn't that flavorful. The Lowden was...AMAZING. I could literally eat this pizza for every meal for the rest of my life and be perfectly happy. I added bacon and pineapple to mine (the bartender suggested it) and it was the perfect mix of salty, sweet, savory, and spicy. It's one of the best pizzas I have ever had! A lot of people might be out off by the peanut butter on the pizza, but it's a lot more subtle than you'd think. read more

The family and I stopped over at Zorbaz for an early pizza dinner after a day at the lake. We got a few things to share and then split a few different kinds of pizzas. It was early in the evening (5pm) so it wasn't too busy, but by the time we were getting ready to leave it was getting busier and looked like it was going to turn out to be a fun but loud night. (Wish we had stayed a bit later!) It's all self service once you order from the bar, which isn't my favorite in general but at least you can get a refill whenever you want. We got a side of cheesy bread to split at the table, and a large pizza too (the chicken club pizza). The chicken club was fine but not my favorite. I actually liked it a LOT better the next day cold... so if you order that and dislike it, give it another chance! I also really wanted to try the Reuben pizza because that just sounded very unique. It was good, but I think I would like a bigger zing to come through with this one. Maybe adding banana peppers or something like that would help. Still good, and would recommend at least giving it a shot! I did it without the fennel seeds at the recommendation of the cashier. read more

Every time I sit down here I am surprised how with such a large (in size) menu, there doesn't seem to be that many options. Pizza and Mexican food is what you'll find here with a few appetizer options like wings or dips. The Mexican food options aren't anything to rave about especially when there are numerous authentic Mexican restaurants in town. The pizza is what we usually order and it's been decent. Can't say we have too many other options around town where you can sit and enjoy pizza- so this does the trick. The service is always good despite you having to order for yourself at the counter before sitting and retrieve your own drinks.. the only time you come into contact with a server at your table is when your food is being delivered. That's Zorbaz appeal though regardless of what town you visit, they are all set up this same way! The people keep coming back and packing this place on the weekends! This place is a fun place to go periodically for the ambience of the lake and the silly decor. They have a nice patio space and a few games inside to keep the kids busy as you wait. The 20-somethings begin to pack this place in the summers after 11pm until close so law enforcement usually is patrolling this side of the lake often at night. Prices are what you'd normally expect from a sit down pizza restaurant having to pay $20 or more for your 1 topping large pizza. read more

For being a widespread local chain in the area, I expected a lot more from Zorbaz. We swung through on a Sunday for lunch, things weren't overly busy and they allowed dogs in the outdoor seating (ultimately why we chose here). The menu seemed almost like a novelty of two cooks that couldn't decide what the restaurant would be. The mix of pizza, Mexican and salads seemed like it could be a recipe for disaster.. and it kind of was. My table ordered 2 personal pizzas and a burrito. The burrito was served just minutes after the order, leaving one quest awkwardly waiting to eat until we got our pizzas. While we waited we battled a swarm of bees at the pop machine just to find out syrups were out and being told "oh I think that one just doesn't work". Pizzas finally arrived, they were a halfway decent pizza, but nothing to rant and rave about. I doubt I ever step foot inside another Zorbaz, but if I do it certainly won't be this one. read more

Drinks and simple food with a lakeside view. They're not pretending to be anything else. I went with Macho Nachos, no olives, and add a side of guacamole. They're nachos are a reliable favorite of mine. First of all, they bake on the cheese. None of that runny stadium crap that you'd get at a gas station. Secondly, they always offer the 50/50 on meat topping. Meaning you can get a mix of chicken and taco beef (that's how I always do it). It's not gourmet here, but it's always a "vibrant" atmosphere. I don't even know where to start with this place. Drinks were slow coming. Me and 4 other people at the bar, with 2 bar tenders, and took 8 minutes to get a drink? Food.... Well tried the Salsa, "Colorado" Hatch Chili and chips. First sign was hatch chilis from Colorado? Chips from a bag, and not a good chip bag, salsa was from I can only guess was Pace from a jug, and whatever the green chili thing was is clearly just dropped on a plastic dish and then sprinkled with cheese and tossed in a salamander for a few seconds. It should be embarrassing to serve this to people. I'm so confused at how this place is busy and been around a long as it says it has. Sadly people in Alexandria and starved do quality food, or good service for that matter. Three days in Alex and still haven't had decent food. The 1 star is for the fact my drink was cold. That was the best part of the visit. Just when I thought I was done with this review. Before I leave some drunk a$$hole comes to then bar next to me, handsy as fu&k on me. Slapping me on the shoulder like we've been friends for 20 years. I kindly ask him to walk away and then I find out he works here. He's a bar back and dish washer. So we got the pepperoni pizza. It was, in fact, a pepperoni pizza. Sauce was a little sweet. Crust was crispy but bland. Cheese was cheesy and the pepperonis were what you'd expect. I've gotten more fun, flavor and excitement out of a jacks frozen pizza from cub. In fact the crust tasted EXACTLY like jacks frozen pizza crust. EXACTLY. All of the empty tables were dirty, but we sat at one anyway. It was either that or stand in the entryway pretending to play pull tabs. This place reminds me of a 90's sitcom. So funny replacing the S's in everything with Z's. So clever. Haha. The bottom line: if you want some overpriced bar food, a coors light and watch the football game while playing shuffle puck and eating free (stale) popcorn. This is your jam right here. read more

On our way to the winery in Alexandria we passed Zorbaz. I was really excited as I have a friend that checks in on FB at one of the Zorbaz locations with frequency and I have always wanted to check it out. And alas, we did! I cannot speak to the food as we'd already eaten but the menu of pizza and tacoz (yes, everything on the menu has Zs in the name- how adorable) sounded good and all of the food I saw looked good. Speaking of adorable, I came for the bobber drink and that's what I had - a Minnesota margarita! I didn't even see what alcohol went into it but it was tasty and a lovely lake water blue! We also enjoyed popcorn. This place is right across the main drag from one of the lakes and I can imagine gets pretty packed. We were here after the lunch rush. We came here because the front desk staff at our hotel recommended it but I'd saved the calories for somewhere else. The atmosphere is ok but nothing more special than an Applebee's. Since we'd never been there we didn't know we had to order at the bar and we missed the lunch specials by 4 minutes and they wouldn't honor it. In their defense, it is extremely well marked but after a sleepless night in a hotel room with a sick baby my husband and myself missed the signs. We thank our eight yo for pointing it out once we began to question where our server might be. LOL The most disappointing part though was the food. I had a southwest chicken salad and it looks like everything came from a can or a bag. I would have been better off with a McDonald's salad and it would have cost me less than half. My sons pepperoni pizza was suuuuuper greasy. Like the movie from Along Came Polly where Phillip Seymour let the pizza grease run off into his mouth kinda greasy. My husband said his burrito was just ok. All in all I wouldn't go back as there are some great affordable restaurants in the area that run circles around this competition. read more

Ordered it in Alexandria, and it had marinara on it.. when I brought it to the attention of the bar tender he argued with me that this is how it was made.. Zorbaz is known for their reproducibility of high quality flavorful 'za. I mean, you don't go to Mc Donald's and order a Big Mac and it comes bacon on it..After he argued with me he did fix the problem and made a new one, which I was completely satisfied with.. however I didn't need attitude and didn't need to be told how my favorite pizza was made when I know he was wrong. read more

Arriving by pontoon boat, we tied up across the street from this dockside sports bar on Lake Le 'Homme Dieu and chose to sit inside for an early casual dinner on the Alexandria chain of lakes. After waiting for someone to come to our table (without success) we finally stepped up to the bar and ordered a California Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza but were never told to get our own plates, silverware and drinks at the back of the restaurant...until our food came! Not very considerate of your customers especially since we had announced ourselves as first-time out-of-towners. Our specialty pizza was topped with ground beef, bacon bits, melted american cheese, red onion, lettuce, tomato and pickles. The toppings were actually pretty good while unfortunately the crust tasted like cardboard. It had no flavor whatsoever. To add insult to injury, when the pizza arrived, it had not been cut up properly in the kitchen resulting in the slices not coming apart when we tried to put them on our plates. Unfortunately, the combination of the lackluster service and the cardboard pizza crust resulted in one of our worst pizza experiences in a long time. I truly enjoy this restaurant / bar every time I come to Alexandria. It is a very casual, kids friendly venue during the day which are the only times I've been here. They don't have servers, just food runners so you order your meal and drinks from the bar and the food gets delivered to your table. I love every Zorbaz restaurant, but Alexandria location is one of the nicer locations. Modern and clean building. The indoor and outdoor seating gives options when weather is good, bad or otherwise. Tons of televisions to watch Vikings, Twins or Wild. Food at Zorbaz is always awesome. The pizza is always on point. Fresh ingredients with a thin and tasty crust. Macho Nachos will feed family of 4. Geno's Pregnant Burrito is a delightful giant. I am in love with their homemade salsa and will eat more than my fair share during any visit. Placing order at the bar is part of the laid back beach experience and atmosphere that Zorbaz is known for. We always have fun at Zorbaz! We are used to going to the ones in Ottertail, Perham, and Detroit Lakes, but we happened to stay in Alexandria this year. This Zorbaz is by far the nices we have been to. Amazing outdoor volleyball, pool, seating, and half the bar is outside. The staff here was awesome. Super friendly, knew about the beers on tap, and our food took less than 5 minutes to get to us. I agree, the food is a little expensive for what it is. However, having said that, our pizza was very delicious. Much better than I remember from years past. I remember it being less than special and the other food being less than special as well. The cheesebread was good, but not for $8. The pizza was very good and there wa sa lot of slices, lots of toppings covering the top, and it all looked fresh. Awesome selection beers, including some harder to find ones. Lots and lots of seating and a family friendly atmosphere. If you're up here and want a fun exciting place to east, this is it. read more

Zorbaz is a local favorite and I'm so glad they have one now in Alex (we use to drive an hour to Ottertail). The pizza is good, the Mexican is great and I love the outside patio. We took many of our out of town guests here over the summer and they enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. I was astonished to see the negative reviews but after reading them, I'm left to assume these people are regulars at the yuppie restaurants on lake Minnetonka. You can take your ignorance an go back to the cities, where you are not required to read instructions and people will dote on you because of the size of your boat. read more

Tried their big pizza with everything and it was really good. Thin crust so it's not too filling. Also had a pastrami-sauerkraut pizza but I didn't like it; others did though. I had their fajita salad and liked it fine. I would go back. It's nice to have something other than Bug A Boo Bay to stop at while on the lake. I HATE that there is not table service. It's a place where you totally would expect table service, and are left wondering if anyone is ever going to come over to your table before you realize you have to go yourself. Oh, we have to order at the bar. OK, let me remember what 5 different people wanted and relay that to the guy standing back there. But of course the receipt has a line for a tip. Mixed review, so 2 stars. -1 for food. Really horrid Mexican and worse pizza. My wife got a Reuben pizza and it was an undercooked murky mess. My son's nachos looked like the ground beef was the school cafeteria variety of cat food I've seen before. My burrito was mushy and icky....and it came with 2 pc's of Ortega Taco Sauce. Wtf? The waitstaff was nice. Ordering is weird- sit at a table, order at the bar, go back to your table with a number. Would be smart to have order slips to hand to the bartender rather than fumble with a menu and try to remember what everyone at your table wants. 5 star beer selection- 2 or 3 Summits, Bell's Two Hearted Ale, Chainbreaker White IPA plus about 10 more quality beers as well as the usual American assortment. Cute interior, lot's of TV's, and you can dock your boat across the street. So much potential to be a fun summer hangout. I'll go back for the happy hour, but unless they change the menu, won't eat there. Zorbaz is a well-branded chain, so a menu change likely isn't going to happen. read more
