Only one ticket window open and it was lovely to see 6 people just standing around the ticket office when we finally got there. More than half of the water rides were closed for some reason, but they still charged full price! What a waste of money for our family. My husband and I have always been wanting to check out Zoombezi Bay. Unfortunately, it was not as we expected. The first time we came to Zoombezi Bay we got kicked out because my husband came into the water park without a shirt. So I forewarn you all no shirt, no shoes, no service! Next time we came was this week and we got the advice from our neighbor to come during the week day when it's less busy due to the lines for the slides. So we came on Wednesday and only got to do like 4 slides since it was around 5 PM and the water park closes at 8. Actually, I just felt really sick after the 4th but I won't go into that. The slides I do recommend are the green and blue slides the green is super fast and the blue floats you in the air. I had my eyes closed on both slides to prevent the vertigo I was about to go into. For the amount of the tickets being $25 each, I can get a better water park in Mason at the Beach water park for much less. Plus avoid the hassle of the lines. If I lived in Mason, I would actually buy season passes as I much prefer those water slides to these. That's just my two cents. read more

Okay, Zoombezi Bay. I take my kids here, a lot. We love the zoo, they love being in the pool, and getting wet. So in that regards, ZB is five-stars. My problem - four kids (one in diapers), two adults? Over $50 to have a meal. We're talking "sandwich and a drink" not "combo meals and lots of extra food, because we don't share." Bring a cooler, the food is way overpriced, and the employees all seem to be "first day" employees who don't have the wherewithal to perform the task above "a snail's pace or passion." The life guards? Well, I had a beer in my hand, and my toes touched the water, and I had *two* life guards run up to me and tell me "to step away from the water." Yup, two kids fighting in the pool? Some kid shoving another kid down? *whistle* *point* the kids don't stop, the life guard resumes ignoring them. But for the love of god, you come close to water with a beer, they'll be on you and be sure to make sure you know they have the power to eject you from the park for saying "what? My toes can't touch the water? Because I have beer in my hand? What?" So... I don't trust them to make sure my kids are okay, and seeing how I saw five guys in the shallow part of the kids pool, I expect absolutely 0 consistency in their enforcement, rules, or anything else for that matter. read more

Zoombezi bay has always been a favorite core memory for me. When I was a child it was Wyandotte lake. I spent hours and hours playing there. I remember riding the coasters and Ferris wheels, arcades and Christopher's island. I recently took my two little boys, 6 & 7 there for a day of summer fun! While we had a great time, one thing that I just can't stop thinking about were the parks new "Fast Passes... " I understand the park makes additional money... and i understand if you pay a little extra you should have a faster entry... but I just did not like the system they had with it. I don't know what change could be made, but we stood in line for the Dolphin dash and we were so excited because only 5-6 people were a head of us. Well as we stode there waiting for about 20 minutes watching teens go up, come down and just get right back in the front of the line go again and again I started to get agitated. Here my little boys are waiting patiently and they each have a mat to go down on but they wanted me to go with them, the teens ran back again and my boys had to give up their mats for these girls that have gone multiple times. I don't know, didn't sit right with me. We didn't ride anything else that day because the same situation occurred. I thought about purchasing a fast pass for us, but I would just not be okay cutting people who have been waiting hours, time after time. I just wish people would be a little more considerate. My husband and I have 3 kids and one time a year in the summer we come to zoombezi bay for an "adult" day. This year there was a thunderstorm and we waited it out to stay knowing this was our one day to chill and de-stress. After the storm was over we went to get a drink and the bartender told us they could no longer serve us because of our actions. To this I was very confused because the only actions we had shown that might've looked a little intoxicated was my best friend trying to give me a piggyback ride and failing because I'm 30 pounds heavier than I used to be. Long story short after five years of coming here to de-stress we will be finding somewhere else to spend our money next year. I would have given no stars because I was extremely disappointed by this but that was not an option. If you are looking for an adult day look elsewhere because you may get kicked out at any moment because the manager feels you have had too much to drink when in fact you are fine. read more

We went to the Donato's pizza station to get a large pizza for our family of four adults and three small children. The pizza was $25! I don't mind paying extra if it's good. The pizza was dried out and it was so bad that the kids wouldn't even eat it. I have bought cheap frozen pizzas at the grocery store that have tasted better. We threw about a third of it away. I was really disappointed in Donato's. I get them a lot at home and I expected so much more. Thank goodness the french fries were good because the kids ate those. Since we were all still hungry we got burgers which were very good but you had to wait in line for almost a half hour to get your burgers. Great water park with a chance to be even better. Very clean in all areas, with facilities and equipment in fine working order. We enjoyed lunch at the taco stand and the lazy river was swift and fun. Wave pool waves were not as big as we have experienced in some other parks and the deepest section was disallowed. Agree with others about being crowded. Adding another attraction without a waiting line (2nd wave pool, 2nd lazy river, general swimming pool...) or additional slides would be appreciated. But it would not be so much of a problem if they trained their staff differently and improved procedures. I believe they could double the rate of slide ridership without compromising quality or safety...no reason to wait for previous rider to exit the pool before even letting next riders get into position. Tube slides are not clearly marked on steps as separate line from the swirling tubes leading to needless waiting and slide occupancy downtime. In many times single tubes piled up even though single riders were waiting further back in line. A focus on safely getting more riders per hour would really help. read more

My fifth third bank had a company day at the zoo and zoombezi bay. Gave us tickets for both places. Also food vouchers to the restaurants there as well. I had the best time at zoombezi bay. It was way too hot to be walking the zoo., so my fiancé and I went to the adult lazy river. I fell asleep because I was so relaxed and had such a great time floating on their single chair floaties. It was just perfect day to float and drink and be merry. I will say their drinks suck so badly. Only three options and they suck and are way too expensive. I was so throughly disappointed with their options. I opted from drinking any of them because there was nothing that was good. I did go to the wave pool and the funnel looking slide which were both fantastic. I liked their food options but the lines were so long due to fifth third company day and it being a Saturday. I was glad I came there early because after 12pm it was hectic and super busy. We left at 2pm because it was so busy and over crowded. I would recommend zoombezi bay to anyone. Our grandkids are ages 2, 6, 8,10 and everyone had a great time at Zoombezi Bay. Free life-vests are available in a wide range of sizes (good for anyone who is not a strong swimmer). The roaring rapids and wave pool are good activities for the whole family. We purchased souvenir cups for the kids which included free refills of Pepsi products all day (and .93 cent refills on future visits). If you purchase an alcoholic beverage, the original cup can be refilled at a discounted price. The cabanas are a bit pricey but worked out wonderfully for our group. It was convenient to have a place to park the stroller and our belongings for the day. The 2-year old had enough space to run around, but not run off (we placed a lounge chair in front of the entrance). The safe was great for storing our valuables, and the mini-fridge held leftovers from lunch until everyone was hungry again. There is a doorbell button to push when service is needed. We visited the waterpark on our SECOND visit to the attached Columbus Zoo, spending 2 days between the zoo and waterpark. While I won't claim this is the best waterpark ever, it was really quite good, with lots of options for everyone. For some great tips from a family who went all over, read on... 1) Ask the attendants at the door for a map / height restriction layout if you have children. They can point you to the right direction for smaller child's attractions, and save you valuable time / frustration. 2) Scout your seat first, rides later... seating is at a premium pretty much everywhere you go, and you'll need a place to pile your towels / things. 3) Don't bring the cooler. The waterpark will not allow them, and you'll be forced to either leave it at the door or take it to your car (it is a LOOOOOONG walk back, so not worth it). 4) Don't plan to do the zoo and waterpark in the same day, if possible. Each are so much fun on their own, and you'll burn out if you try and cram it all in to the same day. 5) If you have small children, and the small kid's area is crammed with adults / teens, don't hesitate to tell the lifeguard. The splash bucket area and infant pools are for children and their family ONLY, not for an adult overflow. During our trip, a group of 20-somethings pushed my daughter down while running up the play structure. We informed a nearby lifeguard, and they announced all people over 54" withOUT a child could not be in this section. It's a great idea to keep them separate! 6) Eat before you go in (yes, I know you aren't supposed to eat for 30 minutes before getting in!! :). The food prices are HIGH, and quality is NOT worth the investment. 7) Go to the bathroom at the entrance before you get in the park. Toilet options are few and far between, and it's go now, suffer, or pee in the pool (ew). 8) The waterpark has a ZERO tolerance for smoking. If you see someone smoking near you and it bothers you tell a lifeguard - they will take care of it right away. 9) Skip the lockers - they are not worth the expense! We left our pool bag (with no valuables, of course, just towels, etc.) on our chair, and it was fine. 10) Save time for the "dry rides" if you have kids under 10. They are located just outside the waterpark's entrance, and totally worth it for the little you'll spend on tickets. IF YOU DO THIS, find the ticket window first - it's near the ZOO entrance, and if you don't get tickets there first you'll have to backtrack a LONG way. read more

I know it's summer in Columbus when the "Zoom... Zoombezi Bay!" commercials start popping up on the radio. (Which, funny enough, I did NOT know a friend of mine wrote until I was just reading a Wikipedia article on the Wyandot Lake to Zoombezi Bay transaction, hahaha) I'm a five-year-old at heart, so while I might hate lines and crowds and the unsanitary in general life, I'm willing to ignore all of that for the joy of being at a water park. It was still Wyandot Lake when I was young, and I remember driving the 2 hours every summer with my family for several hours of bliss at what is now called Barracuda Bay. This designated children's area is still one of my favorite parts of the whole park... parents just give me weird looks when I stand next to their five year old waiting for the giant barrel to dump 500 gallons on my head now. Slides: - Cyclone: The most fun water slide I've ever been on. Billed as "the largest enclosed reducing -radius tunnel in the world." I have no idea what that means, I just know you get shot into a giant funnel of awesome. - Tahitian Twister: A close second to cyclone. - Sea Snakes: This slide comes equipped with an exposed bowl unexpectedly situated in the middle of the slide that you funnel around in for a minute. Everytime I'm convinced my raft won't have enough momentum to make it out. - Sea Tubes: Standard tube slides. Fun. - Slipper Seals: I don't get why people at any water park go down the slides where you ARE the raft. My top always falls off. Other stuffs: - Lazy River: Mmmm, floating in bliss. - Wave pool: Always fun to watch small children nearly drown in simulated tidal waves. Season pass to Zoombezi Bay is $80 - last summer (and I think this offer is still in place) it was $10 cheaper to pick up the pass, or regular tickets, from Kroger. After two years in Columbus, we finally braved our way to Zoombezi Bay (2× recently). The shame of me for not already visiting! So....there are some definite pros and cons. First off, it's super expensive. But the flip side to that is you can always find a coupon floating around to ease the pain. Maybe next summer we will get season passes. Next con, is it is often packed out - especially if you go on the weekend. Do yourself a favor and go during the week, if you can. They have a ton of attractions, no matter what you like you can find something up your alley. Lazy rivers - o e of which is adult only where you can travel with a cocktail. Wave pools and tons of body and tube slides. They also have the funnel. I do wish they had more swimming hole areas though. Lockers are about 5-10 each. If you grab a sun chair or lounge, I have found people do not mess with your stuff....so lockers aren't all together necessary. Employees in this area seem to be much nicer than in the zoo for some reason. Did I mention that they do serve beer and mixed drinks? Food is entirely too expensive. Overall, I have a great time and the kids love this place too. We would go more if it weren't so damn pricey! read more

So it's the middle of January, and I got to thinking, "What better time to review a water park?" Seems pretty smart, off we go! I remember coming here as a kid when it was called Wyandot Lake. I was impressed, because I was a little kid and I had never been to another one. Every other water park I've ever been to in my life is better than Zoombezi Bay. First of all, it's on a parcel of land that is too small. Everything feels crammed in there. There is no landscaping to speak of. The general theme of the place is slapdash/nonexistent. There is a reasonable collection of off-the-shelf slides, but nothing unique and nothing small to fill in the gaps. There's no exploration, no surprises. It's a featureless slab of concrete where you can get a sunburn. That being said, I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The park wasn't dirty, and people seemed to be having a good time. The only good thing about a ticket to Zoombezi Bay ticket is that it can get you into the Columbus Zoo. Just go there instead. read more

Wahoo!!! Get ready to have some fun if you are headed to ZOOMBEZI BAY!! Always a good time! My kids and I had season passes last year and they wanted to go EVERY DAY! They have bigger water slides for the older kids, and a huge play area with smaller slides for the little ones. My kids love the wave pool. It is the perfect place to cool down on a hot summer day. Just sit back and let the waves do the cooling. The only downside is that is does get VERY and I do mean VERY crowded in the summer. Zoombezi Bay would get a 3.5 stars if I could, but I am rounding up to 4 since the kids had fun. We went on a gloomy Monday, during the day, and it rained some. The place was pretty sparsely populated and I can't imagine coming here when it is super busy. First off, it is quite expensive to get in. It was over $80 for 5 people and we had some BOGO coupons as well. They don't let you bring in any food or drinks (save a bottle of water) which is a major bummer. Once you get in, the food is extremely expensive. We paid $20 for a medium sized "Donato's" pizza. I say Donato's in quotes because it tasted really bad. I am not a fan of original Donato's, but this was nothing more than cardboard crust and ketchup sauce. Now that I have that off my chest, on to the main attraction which is obviously the slides. They were fun, as in really fun. The height restrictions are minimal which meant we got to ride everything. Even the 4 year old was able to ride one of the inner-tube slides and loved it. The brand new Baboon Lagoon was pretty impressive and includes the iconic gigantic dumping bucket. The wave pool is equally fun, especially since it was not completely packed. I only wish that they had just a regular old swimming pool for lounging around in. The kids probably rode each slide several times due to the short lines. They had a blast and so did the adults. For the most part, the park was clean and well kept. The bathrooms could definitely use some more attention. As for the staff, yeah just a bunch of bored teenagers. They obviously aren't making a career out of zoombezi Bay, but it could be worse. read more

A lot of us 'grown ups' remember Zoombezi bay as 'Wyandot Lake.' I tried to resist going to the new water park when it was opened because I was too worried it would be kid-oriented, but when I finally got duped into going, I was pleasantly surprised! First, at the risk of ruining all my future trips to Zoombezi, if you're an adult and you want to get your money's worth, GO EARLY. Like, be at the park when the gates open. When I went we were able to hit most of the major slides (even riding the Cyclone twice in a row without waiting). The water rides are all amazingly fun in my opinion, regardless of your age. I have to say the Cyclone was my favorite ride, but if you do not get there early, prepare yourself for an incredibly long wait. Luckily, unlike when we were growing up, raft transportation was complimentary. The biggest disappointment of this park is Croctail Creek. Save your time and skip to the children-friendly version of this creek. Croctail creek is dirty, smaller and overcrowded compared to the family-friendly version. If you like sticks and giant bugs in your pool, Croctail Creek is for you! The only other downer was the lack of lockers for the general public. We were also annoyed that in order to ride the dry attractions you had to buy an extra ticket. Price: I think the park + the separate price you have to pay for the dry rides is a little steep. If you're a large family I would say to save your money and go to a more renown park like Cedar Point or King's Island. Hopefully they reduce the entrance fees in the years to come, but I won't hold my breath. All in all, if you can get past the ridiculous price and GO EARLY it's totally worth it. read more

Awesome day at Zoombezi Bay! We went opening weekend after having free tickets from Donatos (how can you beat that?!!) Eat two pizzas, saveing $100 on entrance fees, very cool. Parking $7 is very wrong, we went to the zoo just a few months ago and it was $6 which was also way overpriced. No ffod or drink is allowed but you can gorge yourself on $7 funnel cake, $6 fried oreos, $5 small dippinn dots or deal of the day for $12 you get a cup you can refill for only 99 cent all day! With that I was glad we had a big breakfast and had water with us. Also the dry rides cost extra and seeing most of them were closed, that again felt like a rip off. Bad aside the park is great! Clean, new, tons of staff to watch over your kids fun at every corner for everyone. Me, being a scardy cat can enjoy the lazy river, wave pool or lounge on the chairs. The guys had a blast on the rides, a big selection of crazy and not so crazy. Go on the rides early and enjoy the sun and lazy parts later when it gets full, that worked out perfectly for us! read more

Went to the zoo and zoombezi bay on Saturday 06/28/2019. Had a great time at the zoo, got there before it opened and went to the water park around 12:30. Needless to say it was the worse experience I have ever had. There was eight of us four adults and four children. No lockers sold out, no lawn chairs, and absolutely know where to sit down.. The water park was so crowded you could not do anything. The pool was standing room only no swimming to crowded. We left after a hour... I had four disappointed grandchildren but felt it was unsafe and very uncomfortable around so many people. Cant believe they have no limit to the number of people they let in the park. Fun at a water park. What other activity screams summer more than that. That being said Zoombezi Bay is a good offering for summer family fun if you are closer to it than it's Ohio cousins of The Beach, Soak City, or the pricy Kalihari Resort. Overall it's not very cheap. Day passes for a family of four will put a dent in your bank account but not as much as going to a theme park. There are offerings for kids and adults in terms of thrilling slides and a great kids area, although it can get a little crowded on the hottest of weekends, in which case they will say they are over capacity and will turn people away. Good things include: Exciting tube slides, dolphin dash, a engaging kids area, a adult lazy river, and included entry into the zoo for that day with your entrance fee. Bad things include: Lack of sufficient land space to park you family on crowded days, no online presence to tell you what attractions are open or closed for repairs on a given day, and even though the adult lazy river is a plus, lack of repairs and cleaning to it, which is the oldest portion of the water-park dating back to when it was Wyandot. Overall, it's a novelty, if you are coming for one time, or live more than forty minutes away, its pretty much a one shot. However if you like it and intend to go more than three times during the summer and are close, grab a Gold Pass to get you into the water park all summer, the zoo all year, and wildlights around christmas time. We purchase season gold passes every year & go 2/4 times a week. We love zoom. We purchase the refillable cups to save $. Now I'm a single mom and $ can be tight. It would be more helpful if you could bring more than just small snacks inside park instead of leaving outside of park in the full sun & nonsecure areas. It's not a cheap place to go, but we always have fun & meet friends. Only gave a 4 bc of costs of food & beverage. Always clean park & bathrooms. Ordinarily, I am pretty generous with my ratings but I must say this place is pretty horrible. While the waterpark itself is not bad, their service is horrible. In order to enter the park, if you are not a member of the waterpark, you have to enter way over at the main gate of the zoo. This, in and of itself it's not that bad. The problem is that even if you pay extra to go to the waterpark you're not allowed to exit from the gate that is specific to the waterpark. Instead, you have to walk half a mile to the main entrance of the zoo to get out. This is clearly a case of price gouging. It is absolutely ridiculous that they refuse to let you exit from the park even though you paid another $27 on top of your zoo take it to exit out of work convenient point. I realize the staff that works that gate are only following instructions, but the management of the facility really needs to get their act together. I have been a zoo member for many years and I find it absolutely ridiculous that they will not let me exit the waterpark at them were convenient location. read more

We came after the zoo on a weekday in the summer. We were shocked that lockers start at $10. Unless you have a pocket there is nowhere to keep your keys while on a ride, so that alone made the locker seem like a necessity. We kept our bag, change of clothes, water bottle and towels in the locker as well. We waited nearly an hour for one slide, and after that we did the adult lazy river two times. I like this ride a lot, no kids! :) We also did the wave pool which was hot water and made me a little queezy. This is probably the best waterpark I went to so far. The funnel cakes are amazing! I dare you to go on the cyclone but be sure to go on weekdays or a fast pass on weekends it's packed! All the water park slides are thrilling and exciting! My favorite one was the dark blue body slide. It's very steep and feels like a rollercoaster and gives you a frightening experience and screams! The water park is beautiful and clean. The food is not bad for a water park and love that you can purchase beer from almost any concession stand. The only part of the park that was disappointing would be Croctail Creek and Croctail Island. There was kids in Croctail Island and Croctail Creek sucked! There was too many people in the creek and groups of people were holding on to their friends tubes, which caused the creek to become clogged with tubes. I finally bought a zoombezi bay pass with my hard earned money. I'm not wealthy I'm single and support myself as a receptionist. I know this will get backlash but I hate children I dont have them for a reason and the reason I paid considerably more for my season pass to here instead of a pool is the adult creek where I dont have to have children splashing my face every 4 seconds and screaming. Little did I know that it doesn't open until noon. I understand not opening the bar but I just want to float in peace!!!! I'm so angry. This on tip of the fact that I didnt read the fine print and realized back to school is August 16 then they aren't open during the week . Beware if u didnt know that. I wouldn't recommend buying a pass unless u have massive amounts of time during the week to come and buy May1. I'm pissed and incredibly hot during the 2019 heat wave. My husband took my daughter and niece here one Thursday afternoon, and I met them after work. They got special pricing since they were there for a special event my niece was involved in. However, when I got there at 5:30 pm (they close at 8, so I was only there for 2 1/2 hours) I had to pay FULL PRICE in order to get into the park. I thought this was outrageous, especially since I arrived not long before closing! I wish they had evening prices, I would probably go more often! We got to ride all the water slides, and I didn't have an issue with any of them. They were all fun! Their lines are a bit confusing, especially around the toilet bowl and body slides. The staff didn't seem too friendly either. My favorite part was the lazy river, I like how big the river is and how there are multiple access points. I also like that there are various things around the river - rapids, water being dumped out of buckets, waterfall - and I think my daughter really enjoyed pushing me into all of those. I might be back, but if I have to pay full price, it'll definitely be an all day thing! read more

There are many opportunities for improvement here. We went on 2 slides in 3 hours! There is not enough staff manning the slides and those that are there are not efficiently moving people through. One issue is giving people a choice which color slide they want - if the one they want is in use they just have them wait and the other slide sits empty, meanwhile the line grows and grows. They need to keep them moving. They also don't seem to have enough tubes for the slides and maybe too many in the traffic jam of a lazy river. Don't get me started on the Zoompasses. As if you haven't already paid out the nose for parking and tickets, if you want a prayer to get your moneys worth out of this place, you need to spend some more, which I refuse to do. It makes me feel like my time isn't as important as those with the sacred band. You can see the promised land and here comes a huge group of "legal" line cutters, adding another 15 minutes to your wait. What happens the day everyone has a Zoompass? It thinned out some later in the day and we were able to ride 3 more slides. Two were shut down that day, although water was running through them. The wave pool was fun, but crowded and of course a token bandaid floating by. Maybe I'd have a different opinion if I lived closer and had a pass, but we drove almost an hour to ride on 5 slides, take a few trips around the lazy river and two cycles of the wave pool.
