We thoroughly enjoyed this zoo! We loved seeing the baby panda twins the most, but there were lots of interesting animals to visit. Viewing areas are easy to access and large, but it's also clear animals are cared for and have places to hide from visitors if they'd like. There are lots of food options at the zoo and multiple free bathrooms around it as well. Signage is clear and there are zoo maps available to take with you, and posted around the area.

I was fortunate enough to visit Berlin again in 2024 (the first visit was 2019) so of course I had to come back to my favorite zoo. I truly feel at peace walking through the beautiful environment that the Berlin zoo has created. If I'm ever in Berlin again I will 100% visit the zoo every time!

This is a cute zoo and the biggest in Germany. We spent the afternoon here and had such a great time. There was so much to see and enjoy. There were a few cafes in the zoo which is really convenient even though we didn't get a chance to check them out.

The Berlin Zoo is located in the heart of Berlin and is the oldest Zoo in Germany, founded in 1844. There is no parking at the zoo, so you will need to either find street parking or take a taxi, walk here or take an uber to get here. You can buy tickets at the zoo or online. There is a $2 discount for purchasing them online. The tickets are under $25 dollars as well, which is a really great price. They do have a gift shop at the front as well as different food options, meals and snacks, around the zoo. The animals areas are are Primate House, Antelope House, Elephant House, Panda Garden, Empire of Cats, Eagle Canyon, Penguin Hood, Rhino Pagoda, Hippo Bay, World of Birds, Pheasantry. They also have an aquarium, which is a separate ticket to visit. You cannot purchase an aquarium ticket on its own, it has to be combined with the zoo unfortunately. They also offer annual passes if you visit a lot or live here. We saw lots of unique animals, and was a tremendous experience.

Berlin Zoo is known to be one of the oldest and most tremendous for its wide variety of beautiful and rare species, many of which can only be seen in this particular zoo. If you're not driving, you can reach there easily by the public transportations that take right across the street. The zoo offers exciting shows and feeding sessions, (some are not available in Winter). Unfortunately, during my visit some of the animals weren't hidden seeking for warm shelters due to the cold weather. For rest/stops and refreshment, visitors will find multiple restaurants, picnic areas and souvenir shops. You may enjoy more animal encounters with a visit to the excellent Aquarium next door that has a separate entrance. Berlin Zoo is a must-see if you're visiting Berlin, just be ready for a long walk.

I found the zoo layout quite confusing, signage poor & overall accessibility poor- I also only saw the zoo- ran out of time to see the aquarium. But the pluses include: -very impressive vegetation in & thru out the zoo - adequate bathrooms spread out as well as snack options -all animals looked well cared for & didn't show any noticeable signs of stress/agitation -larger zoo w/educational signage at each exhibit -continual improvements to zoo, & very affordable -although I didn't make it to the aquarium, it is advisable to go to it too; It's great that u can get tickets for one or both for within a few euros.

Hallo liebe Leser!!! Zoo Berlin - Quality since 1844 !!! :) Look at the new Panda-Babys we have, here at the pictures I made. We are one of the very few cities in the world here outside of China to have Panda babys!!! Great for us in Berlin and in Germany and for our zoo!!! :) Euer ww:) "PANDADEMIE" in Berlin!!! :) Siehe Fotos von mir!!! :)

I'm torn between giving this place 3 or 4 stars, and the only reason being is the aquarium made this place 100x better. My husband and I decided to come to the zoo because we heard a lot of good things about this zoo. However, all the animals looked so depressed. The monkeys recently were released back outside since the cold winters are now over. And it was sad seeing them with their heads up against the walls, not moving or anything :( It almost seemed like all animals just wanted to go back inside, or wanted to be fed. The zoo gives out a map and on the map it shows feeding times of certain animals. So you can watch them in action, they give plenty of time between feedings so you can always head on over to the next one! This zoo holds dearly that they have the only pandas, which they were cute, but I don't see why they were kept separately. I think they'd be happier being able to play with each other. This zoo was rather large, so wear good walking shoes. We got lost a few times only because they were doing construction on the predator exhibit, meaning we saw no lions, tigers and bats. Now the aquarium ... was simply amazing!! It's a three story high building holding hundreds of different species!! Ground 0 you have your typical aquarium - sharks, jellyfish, and all sorts of fishes. Level 1 had a nice crocodile exhibit, you can go into the muggy layer of the crocodiles and see them in person. And the 2 level had all of your insects and creepy crawlers. Not going to lie I thought a black widow spider was sooo much bigger than what it actually is!!

My mom and I really had a good time at this zoo. I've never been to a zoo quite like this. It appears that the animals simply stay put because often, there were very low to minimal fencing around their areas. I saw penguins so up close I could feel their breath. And a rhino. How neat is that. We saw the new Panda and enjoyed the beautifully built pagoda there. All of the animal enclosures and buildings here at this zoo were gorgeous. They aren't just ugly buildings or cages - they look like architectural structures that add to the beauty of the place. It is a zoo like none I have ever seen. I was charmed from the start. Our hotel, Das Stue, had a private zoo entrance so that was a nice perk. We had around 3+ hours to walk around the zoo and thought we were spend perhaps 2 hours and be done. Instead - we ran out of time and didn't get to see everything. We spend all 3 hours and needed even more time. I didn't get to see the giraffes and elephants and I'm bummed about that but we did get to see a lot of animals and the zoo itself is beautiful. Be warned, if you really want to walk around and enjoy yourself, you need to allow for 5+ hours here. It doesn't look especially huge on a map but if you want to really take time to see everything, you need a lot of time. It's worth it. It's the most beautiful zoo I've visited.

    We loved this pose!

We saw lots of history museums and Memorial sites, it felt like a welcome break to come to the Berlin Zoo. We loved the gardens and how close you can get to the animals. The panda was lazy in his tree, but rolled over so we could see his cute face. The elephants were very playful the day we visited, especially the youngest one. Our favorite was the hippo exhibit as it was hot and they were in the water swimming around. They have a soundtrack of hippos that plays now and again. One of them heard it and let out a bellow and opened and shut its mouth while I was standing a few feet away. It was amazing and luckily I was able to catch it on my camera. We didn't have children with us, but the playground was grand!

After 5 days of churches, I needed a bit of a break being inside all the time and just a place to relax and not have to hurry around. Knowing my love for the Zoo my husband decided he would surprise me and take me for the day. I could not believe how excited I was when I realized where we were going. I'm not generally one for surprises especially since it was my first time out of the US and on the last week of our trip. I had been sick and was not thrilled with much after the fire drill the evening before at the hotel. That's another story for another review. It was early spring so things were starting to bloom and come to life. So many animals I had never heard of nor seen in my life. We did get a chance to see the famous Knut and watch him play with a board he seemed fascinated with.. Also I found it really interesting that they adjoined the wolf habitat with the bear habitat. On this particular day the wolves were taunting the bears, surrounding them and cornering them. It was odd, yet entertaining to see. I was a little scared that any moment there was going to be a lot of screaming children if it turned bad. I was also excited to see the kangaroos. It was the first time I remember seeing one up close. Well closer then I had been at any other time in my life. My visit was April 2010 but I do remember it like it was yesterday. I hope to get back there again in a few years.

We visited as a family of four, children 10 & 8, we went on a Friday and purchased tickets at the gate, no queue. It was 41e for family or 51e with aquarium entry too. We purchased with aquarium access but didn't use as ran out of time. Large zoo, many animals and many feeding times to visit. Was a little disappointed that all feeding with spoken information was in Germany but I guess we are in Germany! Fantastic play area, best play ground I've seen in a while, was nice for us to put our feet up and the kids run around (there were people drinking wine/beer too purchased from the restaurants opposite the pay area) Food was good and reasonably price. Very green and shaded zoo, nice to visit on a warm day.

This zoo is larger than I expected. Definitely buy the zoo+aquarium tickets together. I spent about 5-6 hours here taking my time, walking around and seeing the animals. I wish the big cat exhibit was open, but they are renovating it. Definitely something for everyone to see and enjoy. I am glad I brought a small portable fan with me because it was warm and humid. Here's a few oics I took.

Located right in the heart of Berlin, Tiergarten is almost impossible to miss, as all roads lead to it or through it. Once inside this park, you'll you'll find a very large amount of all kinds of trees, plants, grass, and shrubbery. The park is truly a testament to a vast natural space in the center of a city. You will see people riding their bikes, running, walking, and just kicking back on the grass throughout the park. As urban as most of Berlin tends to be, this park is truly a space for a person to workout in nature or just commune with all that is natural. The one thing I will say, that I find very curious about this park, is that there are very few restrooms. You really have to walk a distance to one if you need to use the facilities. From this, I have seen a number of people, particularly men, just using the side of a tree to relieve themselves. I imagine, as vast as this park is, where there are numerous private places, this is not that uncommon of an occurrence. This is not a criticism, this is just something for your to keep in mind if you come to this park. Be aware, you should know where one of the few restrooms are located before you enter the park, just in case you realize you need to go. Overall, this a great park. A fun place to just walk and enjoy nature and some peace in Berlin.

One of the most disappointing parks I've ever been to. I was expecting something like Central Park…read moreor even at least something like Chapultepec Park in Mexico. Instead it's just a giant swamp filled with bicyclists, nowhere to sit, nothing to see. Very few benches. Sprinklers that spray pathways.
