Zoo Atlanta is an educational, entertaining, and exciting place to visit when in Atlanta. The facility is well-designed with large pathways for crowds, scooter and strollers. The exhibits allow guests to be close to the animals. There are engaging guides stationed throughout the zoo to give information to visitors. Visitors are able to experience a great time with the general admission ticket, but there are several options for an additional cost. Parking is a bit of a problem on busy days. There is a main lot, an auxiliary lot and some street parking. Our family visited using the Atlanta City Pass. If you are planning on doing more that one Atlanta attraction, the City Pass is worth it! read more

we purchased our tix online the same morning we would be coming to the zoo - what the website failed to mention is that a 5K would be in progress & the entrance to the zoo would be blocked for about 1.5 hours! i thought one of the perks of the internet was to relay information in a timely manner -- if we had been notified of this, we wouldn't have rushed to get to the zoo when it opened for the 5K planners, a detour would have been great; instead, 100s of cars (not all zoo patrons) sat in their cars idling anyone that has visited ATL knows that their favorite past time is sitting in an idling car, producing more smog i hope the 5K wasn't to bring attention to the environment great zoo though! We had a great time at the zoom been here almost 8 years and this was my 1st time here yet alone any zoo so i was extremely excited to come an bring my daughter and in laws . We came spring break weekend so you know it was crowded but not to an extent where you could not move just crowded. They had discounts on tickets via EBT and other memberships programs, but still a little pricy thank goddess for the discount. Outside food allowed no feeding animals . Food is also sold via two food trucks a small vendor areas . I still recommend bring your own snacks and drinks. Gift shops available kids will go crazy. The experience was a 6/10 only because i didn't expect the crowd and because most of the animals you had to really look for them they were not to entertaining more hiding or tired. They had a jungle gym that had a rock climbing for the kids. They had a train, They had a pet feeding zone, They had a Ferris wheel. Parking was not included but it was quite cheap for the day only a couple dollars. The food and drinks within the zoo not good as expected so I would suggest eating before visiting. Good shade and perfectly placed indoor exhibits to help manage kids in the heat. More than one playground for kids to enjoy during their time at the zoo. Super memorable visit even without doing the train or ropes course etc. The gift shop is large with loads of options. The kids rave about their time here and found it to be so special! I haven't been to the zoo since my kids were little, my oldest is 25 this year. I wanted to go since it's been awhile and I wanted to go see the pandas. Purchased tickets at the gate, it was actually a date, I really enjoyed myself. Made new memories and took lots of photos. Staffers were very helpful and friendly, and the place was interesting. My only substantial gripe is the aggressively high ticket pricing. At this price point I expect a much better experience. Be prepared to pay for hourly parking. The kiosk near the entrance was not working, so I had to download the app. We had a City Pass, but the attendant wouldn't swipe the screen, so we had to hold up our phone for scanning - it was a bit of a hassle. The exhibits were cool, though not all had animals present. Many animals seemed to be staying inside due to the chilly weather, but we did get to see the gorillas, rhinos, elephants, and giraffes up close. The restrooms were clean, and we managed to see most of the park in about two hours. Quaint zoo nestled in the city. Atlanta's Zoo is not huge by any means but has a decent amount of animal exhibits which allow you to get a little closer to some animals. The day we came was overly busy due to some weekend activity so it made parking more time consuming then it should have been. We got our tickets thru CityPass so the process of entering was easy as we got in via the Members line. If you like Zoo's at least say you've been here, it's worth knocking it off your ATL bucket list. read more

We always have such a great time at Zoo Atlanta! We visit at least once a year (and run the through the zoo 5k yearly). The whole place is super visitor-friendly with lots of shady spots, indoor exhibits to cool off, and tons of animals to check out. I loved how the signs didn't just tell you about the animals but also shared cool facts about the challenges they face and how the staff cares for them -- it really made the experience feel special. Parking was a breeze, getting inside was quick, and it was awesome to see healthy food options like vegan brats and protein salads around the park. The layout is easy to navigate, the exhibits are beautiful, and there's a good mix of activities if you want to get even closer to some of the animals. Took my little cousin to the Atlanta Zoo. We did the behind-the-scenes tour completely worth it! We ended up being the only two on the tour, so he got to ask the guide a ton of questions and speak directly with the elephant caretakers. We saw animal x-rays, learned how they care for sick animals, and did a giraffe feeding. The zoo has a great variety of animals including red pandas, giraffes, elephants, and lions. Great selection and display of animals big & small. Love that they're open all year (minus 2 major holidays). We came while in town for Thanksgiving and thankful the weather was perfect! We came around 10:30 am and found a parking spot fairly easily. Pay to park was easy, and the line and entrance was easy. not all the kiosks were open, but the nourish café was amazing! Fair warning, if you order a burger, it does come with fries. The kiosk does not say that. Love that there are some healthy choices around the park--vegan brats, protein salads, etc. We were a little disappointed that the names of all the animals aren't easily found. Other than that, absolutely had a great time today! The staff was kind and helpful. The place was clean and orderly. The holiday lantern looks like it would be amazing! It was great visiting here again except this time I brought my Jr. Adventure Summer Campers. The was very hot, but we got an early start to view everything. We were glad to have the buildings with A/C to see the animal exhibits and the mist fans blowing in several locations to keep everyone cool. From the giraffes, gorillas, monkeys, birds and the snakes, we loved this experience. We wanted to ride the train and climb the Zip Line; however the places were closed due to the extreme heat. Zoo Atlanta has a lot going for it--plenty of shaded paths, indoor enclosures to escape the heat, and a strong focus on education. I really appreciated the plaques throughout the exhibits that shed light on lesser-known threats to the animals, which made it more than just a "look and see" experience. That said, we did run into a few challenges. Many of the refreshment carts and drink stations weren't open, even during the peak of the afternoon, which made it frustrating to find affordable hydration--especially with fussy kids. A few exhibits also seemed inactive, and we weren't able to access the big cat area during our visit. I'm curious to see what will eventually take the place of the pandas now that they've returned to China. All in all, it's a solid zoo with a lot to offer. Just take our advice and pack your own drinks and snacks to make the most of your visit! read more

The zoo is one of my favorite places to see and go in the city. It's super convenient that I live pretty close and have a membership to the zoo. It's definitely a great place for children and any adults who are animal enthusiasts. They are slowly making renovations as some parts are outdated. The new lion habitat is fantastic! This venue is nothing but exploiting these animals for money. I got the impression that all snakes were dead except for 3. The exhibits for the large animals were very small and in horrible shape, no natural habitats. All large animals seemed to be sedated, Mal nourished and in pitiful shape. Had a wonderful time at this gorgeous zoo. Only in Atlanta for a couple of days and wanted to take our kid somewhere and the zoo was less expensive than the aquarium. But I'm so glad we did. Easy time parking and getting in and we got to see lots of animals as well as participate in a story time. There are plenty of bathrooms and even a couple of rides for the kids. Huge zoo, very clean and well maintained. Lots of sections separating different types and regions of animals and species. Most animals were active and playful when we visited. Plenty of restrooms in every corner of the zoo. There's a wonderful children section in the zoo. There's petting animal, carousels, train ride, playground and tree climbing. Carousel and train require separate ticket, $3 per person. It takes about 2-3 hours to fully explore the zoo. There's a cafe and bunch of small vendors around the zoo. We have been to every available zoo in 4 states and this is the best one yet ! It is a smaller zoo but where else can you go to get upclose to Animals ? The red panda was 6 feet away . elephants , giraffes, rhino , monkeys, gorillas were all awake and interactive. Usually the Animals we see at Zoos seem to be hiding sleeping or not very interested in having visitors. My kids a toddler and teenager thoroughly enjoyed this visit. I was mostly there for the Panda and it did not disappoint. The best part is hearing the lion roar , it was a mixture of awe fear and excitement. Overall it was an enjoyable experience cons are parking is limited and food / beverage cafes are Sparse. The entire experience was more like a 3.5, but I'm rounding down to 3-star due to ticket price. It was great to see panda and elephant as we don't have that in Chicago. However, the panda was so skinny. Giraffe was running around and you can feed them. The train ride was cool. The train went through two tunnels, with one of them with various colors. But I did get four mosquito bites while sitting on the train. The zoo also has lots of elevation changes. For people not built for the heat, the walking was a little too much. read more

Hanging at the zoo doo-a-lee-do. I visited Zoo Atlanta for the first time in many years and fell in love with all the amazing animals here. This place is truly a gem in Grant Park. What's more? There's a great outdoor green space for a picnic, family walk, or a birthday party. I became a Zoo Atlanta member so I can come here anytime with my family. This place is walkable, definitely bring some sunscreen and hydrate. I saw a couple outposts to grab a beer by Sweetwater as well. There are some food trucks before the kids petting zoo. Parking was $10 at the lot adjacent to the back entrance deck. We tried the main entrance but it was packed. Plan to spend at least a couple hours here exploring the wonderful zoo animals. read more

Came to check out the zoo and had a good time. They have plenty of animals to see and I like that there are a lot of trees for shade. They have different animal experiences to participate in as well. I paid to do the lemur experience and was able to speak to one of the trainers and feed a ring-tailed lemur some green bell peppers! My favorite part about this zoo though was the signage for each animal. I'm a huge believer in the fact that a zoo should be more than just a place to look at animals, it should be a place to LEARN about animals. I've been to quite a few zoos around the world and Atlanta has some of the best signs I've seen. They have signs about the animal in general, what kind of dangers they face, what it's like to be their trainer/what they need, etc. Great work Zoo Atlanta! read more

Party Size: 2 Adults & 1 Toddler I had such an amazing time visiting Zoo Atlanta this afternoon with my son. I haven't been to the Zoo in so many years and it was such an amazing feeling to see some of the statutes and animals that were there when I was a child. It's always been a dream of mine to take my child to Zoo Atlanta to see the famous Willie B. Exhibit, the Panda Exhibit, riding the train & seeing the African Elephants because these are memories that I recall having huge excitement from as a young girl. If you're looking for something to take your toddler to drain their energy, I would definitely recommend this. Even if you're coming here for a date day or family day, you're going to have an amazing time. Take lots of photos for memories and if you enjoy collecting Souvenir Pennies, they have various machines around the zoo as well. read more

I came here on a Saturday around 12 to find their initial parking lot to be entirely full. Luckily there is an additional parking lot on the entire opposite side of the block which is a bit of a drive depending on traffic but very much worth it as its covered parking and leads directly into the entrance. Personally, I am not a big supporter of Zoos as they often do not accommodate the animals enough in terms of space or diet. Let alone the fact they are pulled out of their natural habitats... But I still came since my sister was in town visiting. Regardless, it was still a site to see beautiful elephants, giraffes, gorrillas, birds, pandas, and so many more animals in real life. Since it was a hot day there wasn't much action to be seen as they were rightfully so resting and saving their energy. It was a luxury to also learn more about the endangerment of the animals and a glimpse of their special adaptations. Staff were also helpful in directing and providing additional information. This leaves me morally conflicted on saying whether or not I'd come again. read more

I took a trip down to Atlanta to see the pandas before they leave. I've never been to this zoo before but I have a membership at another zoo so I got half off here (highly recommend zoo membership). It's a really nice zoo. It's smaller than other zoos I frequent but still had a variety of animals. Loved the reusable cups they had available since it was hot outside and it was only $1 to refill. The panda area was very nice and the merch they had was really cute! The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. As you're leaving we were asked to answer some questions about the zoo to receive two free tickets and it was a super fast survey and now we can go back. read more

Worst zoo experience and really overall experience I've ever had. I took my 11 year old daughter to the zoo for a private elephant experience. The elephant experience was fun and the trainers were very nice. However, on the way to our experience my daughter wanted a bag of popcorn. It was a cold and misty day and we stopped briefly to buy a bag. I gave the cashier a $20 bill for the $7.63 bag of popcorn. Her register would not open and instead of allowing us to leave and get the popcorn somewhere else we were told we couldn't leave until a manager arrived to open the register to allow for change. I suggested voiding the sale, letting us use a credit card, etc, but was told no. Also, no apology for our inconvenience. We waited. We waited some more. No manager arrived. After about 10 minutes of waiting with nothing happening and at that point, I was worried we will miss the elephant experience I paid $250 for, I reached in my bag and found $8 (a 5 dollar bill and three 1 dollar bills) and I flung them through the small window and said- just please give me the $20 and you can keep the change. The cashier then called security on me and said I was "throwing things at her". Then 5 security officers showed up. They tried to take the extra $8, wouldn't initially let me explain anything and said I could be arrested. One of the security officers said, "We take our employees side no matter what." This all happened in front of my 11 year old terrified daughter. It was a complete nightmare over a bag of popcorn and a faulty register that was never explained. I have never experienced anything like this in my life and I will never go back to this zoo and I have told every person I know about this experience. It's a real shame to be treated like an actual criminal for trying to pay for something and then leave and not be held hostage. read more

Our family had a great time here. We saw almost every animal at the zoo and the employees were around to talk about each species and any questions you have. It's cool to see most animals so up close behind the fences that it makes the driving through the safari at six flags seeing animals more than 25 feet away behind the glass and fences look silly. There are also shows here but it was only on weekends and unfortunately, we visited during the weekdays. Nevertheless, we walked around the zoo, tools pictures, read on facts, fed the giraffe for a cost, drove off to the nearest chick fil a for lunch, and went back to the zoo to tour for more. Overall, it was a good visit. Parking is $3 per hour or you can pay $12 and park for the full day and it's fine if you leave and come back during the day which is what we did for lunch. Just make sure if you leave the zoo, get your hand stamp so you can come back inside later. read more
