Super fun way to start my Atlanta trip. I got really excited thinking hearing the pandas were back, but unfortunately that exhibit isn't open yet. All the other animals were very active and looked healthy. The staff was super friendly and informative as well.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Zoo Atlanta. The habitats are well-designed to reflect natural environments, and the animals are clearly well cared for. I was especially impressed by the staff's dedication; when one of the giraffes needed a break from feedings, an employee kindly explained the situation to guests, putting the animal's well-being first. The clean, wide walkways also made moving through the zoo with a group effortless.

What we REALLY appreciated about this zoo is that, while Atlanta is HOT, they put a lot of thought into shade... you don't realize how important shade is until you bring two fair-skinned blondes in during the summer. :) The zoo is like many other zoos. Elephants, zebras, etc. We enjoyed the red panda (so close to it!) and our surprise favorite - the kookaburra, who entertained us with it's infamous call! Staff were very friendly and informative. I would highly recommend getting the souvenir cup with refillable slushes. Try all the flavors! Plus, it cools you down from the inside out - very important!
Beautiful zoo with plenty of animals, maybe even more than you can see in one trip. This zoo provides very close up front views of the animals and rotates them out to give them down time from human interaction. There are a lot of hills to get to the exhibit so wear decent shoes and bring strollers for kids. There are plenty of bathrooms and food stalls along the way. Check the daily feeding schedule and try to see the keepers tossing food to different animals- this was a highlight for us at the Gorilla feeding. Parking is paid, and plentiful. Strollers and wheelchairs can be rented. For kids there is a petting zoo and splash pad/fountain.
The zoo wasn't packed when we went and that was perfect. It was a rainy and cloudy day, but honestly perfect. You pay $12 for parking, prior to going into the park. Lots of animals were out. Tons to do. There's a train, obstacle course, carousel as well, but they cost extra. Not expensive at all. Fun place!
Amazing sights, fun animals, and lasting memories when you come visit Zoo Atlanta. While there, I even got a rare sight of a sloth wide awake and active. Definitely will be making this a stop on my next visit to Atlanta.

They had discounts on tickets via EBT and other memberships programs, but still a little pricy thank goddess for the discount. Outside food allowed no feeding animals . Food is also sold via two food trucks a small vendor areas . I still recommend bring your own snacks and drinks. Gift shops available kids will go crazy. The experience was a 6/10 only because i didn't expect the crowd and because most of the animals you had to really look for them they were not to entertaining more hiding or tired. They had a jungle gym that had a rock climbing for the kids. They had a train, They had a pet feeding zone, They had a Ferris wheel. All fee you will pay extra but at-least the playground was free i saw about two in the park. Be prepared for your feet to hurt for 2 days honey lots of walking good cardio .
Zoo Atlanta is an educational, entertaining, and exciting place to visit when in Atlanta. The facility is well-designed with large pathways for crowds, scooter and strollers. The exhibits allow guests to be close to the animals. There are engaging guides stationed throughout the zoo to give information to visitors. Visitors are able to experience a great time with the general admission ticket, but there are several options for an additional cost. Parking is a bit of a problem on busy days. There is a main lot, an auxiliary lot and some street parking. Our family visited using the Atlanta City Pass. If you are planning on doing more that one Atlanta attraction, the City Pass is worth it!
If you have the city pass this would probably be number 3 on my list of places to visit behind the world of Coca-cola and Atlanta aquarium. Parking was not included but it was quite cheap for the day only a couple dollars. The food and drinks within the zoo not good as expected so I would suggest eating before visiting. My favorite exhibits were feeding the giraffes and the elephants!

Staffers were very helpful and friendly, and the place was interesting. My only substantial gripe is the aggressively high ticket pricing. At this price point I expect a much better experience. Many exhibits and food outlets seemed closed during the visit. The overall impression was that the zoo could be better managed. There's a variable demand ticket pricing structure. On a weekday mid-afternoon with the place nearly empty, ticket was $33. Bronx Zoo, which is much larger and better run, is $23

Also, almost all of the food options were closed. We finally found one right by the entrance that was open. We enjoyed ourselves, but overall, it was just ok.
I have been going to Zoo Atlanta for over 40 years. Many, many years ago we had a family membership. Today was my first time there in over 15 years. It was beautiful! They have really taken care of the park and all the animal enclosures were well taken care of. We arrived at 9:00 (which I highly suggest, especially for parking reasons). The zoo was very busy today for "Boo at the Zoo" and it was a beautiful fall day. Even though it was busy, it was easy getting around. Also, the animals were all out and easily seen early in the day. The "new to me" reptile house was amazing compared to the old one. I was really blown away at the improvements since I was there last which included the very large elephant enclosure. Last time I went there was not a charge for parking. Now it is $12. The tickets to get in were $40 each so it was an expensive day. I got a pretzel and cheese which was $10. You can take food and drink into the park which is great! We brought lots of snacks and lunch that we ate at the car. That definitely helped keep costs down. In the next few years we may consider buying a membership. Definitely recommend a visit to the zoo! read more
We love Zoo Atlanta! It's a great place to walk around and get some exercise. It's also great for the kids! Pricing is a bit high but totally worth it if you get a membership. Parking is $12 all day or $3 per hour. Food at the food court area is good! We've had the pizza and turkey wrap. I'd recommend both! I feel like this Zoo is smaller than others we've been to and I wish it had more than one giant otter and more meerkats. Theres a number of exhibits with only one animal in it which made us kinda sad for them. There's a lot of trees but no cooling station so I'd recommend bringing your own cooling fan or spray bottle and keep hydrated. We look forward to going back soon! read more

Lovely zoo experience. The animals look healthy and cared for. The highlights were being right next to the gorillas in the glass and watching the lemurs. The "could've been betters" - it's a small zoo. It takes about an hour and a half and then you're done. The reptile area was lackluster. We couldn't find a lot of the animals in their habitats, plus it gets crowded in those rooms. read more
I had a nice time at this zoo! Some animals were understandably off exhibit because of the cold, but the animals I did see were very well cared for with gorgeous exhibits. The educational staff at this zoo is top notch. Eric had tons of information to share about the elephants and did a great job sharing some cool facts with me! It's obvious he is passionate about his role! The zoo offers reciprocal membership discounts with other AZA establishments, so I got a discount on my entrance fee! read more

I'm a sucker for visiting zoos when I visit city and Atlanta is no exception. I love how interactive the zoo is. There are zoo keepers at a lot of the exhibits to answer any questions and giraffe feedings. They also have a lot of animals that are not as common in other zoos such as red pandas and actual panda bears. I highly recommend the Atlanta zoo to any zoo enthusiast read more

We always have such a great time at Zoo Atlanta! We visit at least once a year (and run the through the zoo 5k yearly). The whole place is super visitor-friendly with lots of shady spots, indoor exhibits to cool off, and tons of animals to check out. I loved how the signs didn't just tell you about the animals but also shared cool facts about the challenges they face and how the staff cares for them -- it really made the experience feel special. Parking was a breeze, getting inside was quick, and it was awesome to see healthy food options like vegan brats and protein salads around the park. The layout is easy to navigate, the exhibits are beautiful, and there's a good mix of activities if you want to get even closer to some of the animals. Definitely one of the best zoo experiences I've had -- highly recommend if you're in Atlanta! read more

we purchased our tix online the same morning we would be coming to the zoo - what the website failed to mention is that a 5K would be in progress & the entrance to the zoo would be blocked for about 1.5 hours! i thought one of the perks of the internet was to relay information in a timely manner -- if we had been notified of this, we wouldn't have rushed to get to the zoo when it opened for the 5K planners, a detour would have been great; instead, 100s of cars (not all zoo patrons) sat in their cars idling anyone that has visited ATL knows that their favorite past time is sitting in an idling car, producing more smog i hope the 5K wasn't to bring attention to the environment great zoo though! Be prepared to pay for hourly parking. The kiosk near the entrance was not working, so I had to download the app. We had a City Pass, but the attendant wouldn't swipe the screen, so we had to hold up our phone for scanning - it was a bit of a hassle. The exhibits were cool, though not all had animals present. Many animals seemed to be staying inside due to the chilly weather, but we did get to see the gorillas, rhinos, elephants, and giraffes up close. The restrooms were clean, and we managed to see most of the park in about two hours. It was a bit disappointing as they were hosting a field trip; it would have been more enjoyable without the large group of elementary students. read more

One of the best zoos I've ever been to. The employees are top-notch. KJ at the challenge course went out of his way to make my eight-year-old grandson comfortable in a very tense situation while making this Poppy laugh. read more

Great selection and display of animals big & small. Love that they're open all year (minus 2 major holidays). We came while in town for Thanksgiving and thankful the weather was perfect! We came around 10:30 am and found a parking spot fairly easily. Pay to park was easy, and the line and entrance was easy. not all the kiosks were open, but the nourish café was amazing! Fair warning, if you order a burger, it does come with fries. The kiosk does not say that. Love that there are some healthy choices around the park--vegan brats, protein salads, etc. We were a little disappointed that the names of all the animals aren't easily found. Other than that, absolutely had a great time today! The staff was kind and helpful. The place was clean and orderly. The holiday lantern looks like it would be amazing! It was great visiting here again except this time I brought my Jr. Adventure Summer Campers. The was very hot, but we got an early start to view everything. We were glad to have the buildings with A/C to see the animal exhibits and the mist fans blowing in several locations to keep everyone cool. From the giraffes, gorillas, monkeys, birds and the snakes, we loved this experience. We wanted to ride the train and climb the Zip Line; however the places were closed due to the extreme heat. Thank you Zoo Atlanta for keeping us cool and safe! read more

Nice zoo but it's was cold day when come to visit. A lot habitat is empty. Animals is hiding or sleeping. Even the reptiles and amphibians exhibit no animal is present. read more

Zoo Atlanta has a lot going for it--plenty of shaded paths, indoor enclosures to escape the heat, and a strong focus on education. I really appreciated the plaques throughout the exhibits that shed light on lesser-known threats to the animals, which made it more than just a "look and see" experience. That said, we did run into a few challenges. Many of the refreshment carts and drink stations weren't open, even during the peak of the afternoon, which made it frustrating to find affordable hydration--especially with fussy kids. A few exhibits also seemed inactive, and we weren't able to access the big cat area during our visit. I'm curious to see what will eventually take the place of the pandas now that they've returned to China. All in all, it's a solid zoo with a lot to offer. Just take our advice and pack your own drinks and snacks to make the most of your visit! read more

Really like this zoo. Very clean and well designed. We went at 10am so it's not as crowded. We used Citypass (just show it at the door, no reservation needed). Great collections of animal. It also has petting zoo, toddler playground and obstacle courses for older kids. We didn't finish everything but this is the one Atlanta attraction that I would like to come back. read more

How close is parking to the entrance?
The parking is right next to the zoo no long walk at all unless the parking lot is full parking is about $10 for 3hrs . they offer parking up the street like a 5-8 mins walk which I believe someone on a go cart will come get you if it's to much…
How long does it take to view the entire zoo?
I think it really depends on how quickly you want to do it. I've gone through "everything" with two kids in about 2 hours. That said, you could also take 4 or 5 hours if you want to go slowly and spend more time at each exhibit.
Do they serve beer and wine at any of the food stands?
Thanks for asking Angela. At the time of your question we did not offer beer. However, we do now have beer in a couple of our food outlets. Be sure to come by soon.
How long is the wild encounters ? What are the times? Can you choose to only feed the Pandas?
The time for each Wild Encounter differs. Yes you can choose to only do the Pandas. That would be $160. Feel free to check out the website.
Do you have anything for the handicap to used to get around?
Yes, we have wheelchairs and electric scooters. You can rent them at the gift shop. The wheel chair is $12.00 and the electric scooter is $28.00.
Can you go out to your car and get you lunch and then re-enter the zoo?
Yes you can re-enter the zoo. There is a stamp machine before you exit. Be sure not to forget to stamp your hand.
