Space VR Queens Center - Immersive virtual reality rides

Space VR is a kiosk on the 3rd Fl of the Queens Center Mall. It offers virtual reality games with…read morea headset and handheld controllers (for 2 people), simulation rides on a motion chair (for 4 people) or car simulator (for 2). Pricing is per person/game starting at $11 a game, up to $29 for 3. Since it is open to people traffic, you can watch customers while they are playing a game or on a ride. Because of this, I think the per game/ride pricing is fine (unlike some VR game places which have pricing by the hour). Also, if you/your child just want to try how it is, it's not too much $ for a little time off from shopping. About the games, there is a limited amount to choose from. My sons thought their game was ok but was supposed to have audio, instead had subtitles. We didn't ask how many minutes a game is and didn't time it, but my son felt like it was about 10 minutes and was just stopped by the staff member, who was nice and patient. Didn't see a "walk the plank" game I wanted to try again so I picked a roller coaster ride. I asked for a scary one to see how the scenery was via the headset - was just ok, video quality could be better in color and be clearer. The motion chair moved a little. I've seen other people screaming while on these rides but for me, of course it doesn't feel like real coaster ride (which I love) so I was kind of quiet, but it was a longer ride than real ones. Also, didn't notice but would like to know how they clean the headsets between customer use.

I booked the Goblin's Quest VR escape room for 4 people. We signed waivers and proceeded to the…read moregame setup. They hooked us up with the headset and a battery/bookpacks. The experience lasted for 45 mins total but I do wish it was longer. Overall it was a fun game, you experience multiple rooms as a Goblin through VR. The staff is there to assist you throughout when you're stuck on parts of the puzzle. Some of the downsides were the headset audio not being loud enough. You can hear everyone else's VR experiences around you which can distract and make it hard for you to hear things clearly in the game.

I've done VR before so this is my second experience but first time here. I have a divided opinion…read moreregarding staff. It takes time to flag them down even when there's no significant crowd and also towards the end we were admonished for setting up our locker to put stuff in "completely wrong" even though the locker was the one that had the malfunction to begin with. Otherwise, some of the other staff we encountered were more than helpful with equipment. The equipment and games seemed outdated and laggy- for the price of playing there for two hours I had expected better and more variety. I enjoyed the ski experience, walking on the beam on high rise and also the zombie multiplayer game. It was interesting how my friend and I perceived certain experiences to be more real differently. We did not check out the escape room. Overall, this can be a fun experience if you go with friends and it's not as busy earlier in the day (it opens at 12 pm and we came on a Sunday) but I can see it getting busier possibly later? I don't think I'll be returning though. I don't have any pictures because I left my phone in the locker.

We went there this past Saturday. The place was completely dead and the employee was sitting at the…read moreentrance in a plastic yard chair. That should've been the 1st sign for us to leave. My child wanted to try out 1 of the games. You have to purchase a card with points in order to play so the employee did the screen prompts himself and the card never came out. We went to the game my child wanted to play and he swiped a bunch of random cards they had laying around and none of them had enough points for the game. He couldn't open the machine to see what happened and made us wait for another employee to get back so she could open the machine. She opened it and resolved nothing. At this point we had to leave and they refused to refund me. They claimed only the owner could issue a refund and they were unavailable. They took my info and of course I never heard back from them. Absolutely unprofessional and such a scam!!!! Never go there!!! There's a reason why the place was completely empty.
