Went to Sandbox VR and I'm not gonna lie this experience was fire. If you're into gaming or just want to try something different with friends or family, this is definitely a spot you should check out. Everything was very organized from the start. The staff walks you through the whole process, gets you geared up with the VR equipment, and explains how the game works before you jump in. Once the game starts, it really feels like you're inside the action. You can see the people in your group, move around freely, and work together during the mission. Way more realistic than regular VR. Felt like I was fighting for my life. I went with a group of 5 and we had a great time. It definitely brings out everyone's competitive side. The staff was cool but the only thing that pissed me off was the drive to Jersey made us late because of the traffic so we was 15 mins late. They wouldn't take us so we had to come back hours later. I was pissed..helpful the entire time. Also a downside is it goes by quick, but that's mainly because you're having so much fun. Overall, it's a great experience. read more

I had an amazing time at Sandbox VR this past weekend. As a party of two, we registered for an early timeslot to play their newest game, Rebel Moon. When we arrived we found that we were the only ones there besides the workers, but honestly, we didn't mind being among the first players to arrive (it made us feel like VIPs.) After signing in, a staff member took us aside and began positioning sensors on both our wrists and ankles. He then began to provide more details about VR. The young man who assisted us was professional, well-organized, and communicated all instructions efficiently. He gradually began to place our headsets on and we were off to explore this new world. It did take a few minutes to adjust to everything that we were seeing. This experience was thrilling and quite intense. Lots of ducking, shooting, and occasional screaming, which made for a delightful afternoon of fun. One thing I would suggest is making sure all equipment works beforehand. Unfortunately, my gun wasn't working in the very beginning, and there were times when we experienced technical difficulties during our game, and had to ask for assistance. Of course, this can dampen the experience because it interrupts the flow of the game, but we had a blast nonetheless. Be advised, you will work up a sweat, so wear appropriate clothing- nothing tight, heavy, or that can restrict movement! The staff here are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything you need. They walk you through the setup and make everything super easy, even if it's your first time. Why it's not five stars: It is pricy for what it is ($60/ per person for around 30 minutes of actual gameplay) It sometimes lags. Only for a few seconds but still a bit annoying. I can see it easy to bump into people if you have a larger group. We were only two, but any more I would think it may much more likely. Service when we came in was good, but the girl who set us up with the game was less than enthusiastic to be there. Surprised someone with a Father's Day to sandbox and I think I was more excited than the person I surprised. Upon arrival we were greeted and checked in we literally had the place to ourselves which was great the game was approximately 45 minutes. Their policy is pretty strict you must be on time you only have 10 minutes grace period. If you don't arrive on time you will be charged so keep that in mind. We played deadwood mansion which was a zombie theme vr game. Very active, adrenaline pumping, heart wrenching horror game which I enjoyed very much. Once you are done you get to see your results and they email you a pre made video of your game play which is very cool souvenir. I highly recommend I'll definitely return with a group to try more games read more

Sandbox VR is a great experience with friends and family, my group did startrek which was on an intermediate level. The graphics were good and the interactions were on point. The only complaint was soundproofing. We heard everything that was happening in the other rooms which dampened our experience because we couldnt hear our instructions well even with having on headphones. If you go I recommend deadwood mansion, it seemed to have been the top pick for alot of gamers. It was too much for our geoup but it seemed like the most fun. This place was SO MUCH FUN!!! For my husbands birthday he wanted to get a group of friends together to try this place out. In total we had 11 people and reserved two rooms (max 6 ppl per room) about a week and a half before the day we went. Checking in was easy and the workers there were very nice and informative. Even before the game was exciting, getting our gear on- picking our weapons and team names. Once we entered the room, the workers then gave us our headsets and headphones and within minutes we were all ready to rock out. The game itself lasted about 45 mins which is honestly the perfect amount of time. Each and every one of us had a blast, we loved it and are already talking about when we will come back! The only thing I would like to note is that they do not sell beverages there (water soda etc) and I personally would have liked some after the game because you move around so much, so if you come just remember to bring your own because you are going to want some after. I attended this establishment with a party of 6. First time experiencing this venue. The staff was very informative, helpful and friendly. They walk you through everything step by step. They make sure your equipment is on properly an you have an enjoyable experience. You will be sweating so bring a rag with you lol. You get to play game on easy or hard. Hard is better for a 2 or 4 man, 6 ppl will have you on top of each other and will effect your performance but you can do it for the experience. It as my birthday so after you finish the game they shift you into an open area in the virtual where you are celebrated which i found to be very cool and personalized. They Taylor it to the info you give them so give them the age your turning. Other than that your given the video from your experience which is delivered to your email and everyone go's home happy. I wish I could give this more stars! I booked this activity for my fiancés 31st birthday and was slightly worried it would be "kiddish" -- but took my chances. I booked for 12 people, which included two private Virtual reality rooms (the rooms hold max 6 people) as well as the private room after where they provide pizza - I had lunch catered as well. Without the lunch which I set up on my own it was a total of $850 which I found very reasonable for what was provided. The party room was LARGE, very very clean, and also not kiddish AT ALL. Black linen draped over all the tables and very comfortable. The bathrooms were also spotless. The Virtual reality experiences that were recommended for us were absolutely targeted to our age group. The experience from start to finish including gearing up is about an hour (actual play time about 45 minutes) which is honestly just enough. You really will work up a sweat! The staff was AMAZING. Most of my experience (from booking to arriving) was dealing with Jeremy who I believe to be the owner. He made himself extremely available at ALL times. He checked on us and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed through out our stay. The staff also was extremely friendly and welcoming. I called several times before my event to just ask a few questions to finalize details and each person I spoke with was extremely helpful and kind. The day before we were even sent specific directions which I felt i was a nice touch. I was able to send them to my guest for convenience which I loved. They directed us to the playroom and gave use instructions as to what was the front of the experience and how the walls look with the VR lenses on and the code word to stop the experience in case we were overwhelmed. Next came the head gear and a VR glasses. We were now Pirates! "Batten Down the Hatches, our video directions and our adventure began. We WERE the PIRATES and WE protected the gold. Argh Matey! We had a blast. 40-50 minutes from the start time we emerged from our experience with one MVP and 3 teammates. Our group ranges from age 10 to age 51, we all enjoyed it equally. We can't wait to go back and explore the other adventures. They have a fantastic party room and 4 experience rooms. Each room holds from 4-6 people at a time. You can even have competitions. OH MY GOD. I surprised my boyfriend for his birthday with tickets to our first VR experience. I had sooo much fun! (You will definitely work up a sweat). The overall experience is about 45 minutes to an hour; I definitely wish it was longer. There are about 5 game choices and we picked the zombies of course. (I was slightly scared) At the end, I was crowned MVP (sorry hun) & we were able to get a little snippet of us dancing as our characters & a "movie" trailer of our game time. Went here for a friends birthday celebration 6 person VR party Options from pirates to zombies game to play with friends (maximum of school per room) You wear an oculus headset backpack that holds console and battery and they put movement tracking devices on arms and legs There is a marked off area to play in and must use team work to survive (which means a lot of screaming at each other) Setup and putting on equipment took at least 20 minutes. Quick orientation assignment of guns and then your ready. Double pistols is a real workout so be ready for whoever gets assigned to shoulder that load Game play was like 45 mins. If your entire party dies twice within the game it's over. Which we didn't know when facing the final boss They had fans for 4d effect which was Nicely done Only downfall was they don't sell any beverages Not even water which is weird because the game is a work out because of the equipment your wearing and movement your doing. Had a blast here in the location's only second week since opening for business in Paramus. The place is clearly for all ages. Our clan of 20+ dudes had a great time playing amber sky supervised by Zach. The other groups we saw entering their location were mostly children. The 30-minute session feels much longer than it looks. Not in the sense that we were waiting for the end, but it felt like we did so much in the virtual reality session that we were shocked we had not gone over our allotted time. The experience is very high quality and professionally done. $50 dollars for a session is an absolute steal. I will definitely return to try the other games. read more

Grateful for understanding our frustration; hopefully next round is more smooth - if so will update review. ---------------------- 2/19/2022: Initial Review: Zero Stars We made reservations for 10:45PM on February 19, 2022 to play Amber Sky 2088. We waited over half an hour to get into our room - pretty sure groups that came after us got put in before us - whether they had reservations slots before us is something I'm willing to let go, but once we were in they had us in the VR waiting room for another 40 minute due to technical difficulties. They reset the game two or three times and ultimately said we couldn't play Amber Sky or anything with the assault riffles. When we asked for our options they said we could play Curse of Davy Jones, a kiddie game. When we told them that's not what we wanted and if we could get another room, they said it was fully occupied and we would have to wait another 30 minutes. They said we would be refunded for our reservations but we could still play Davy Jones and that our next reservations would be 20% off. I appreciate the offer but 20% is not going to cut it for having us wait over an hour from our reservation time. My friend that organized it also had skin irritations/rash where the goggles were. We understand there could be technical difficulties, but the logistics of setting up a reservation and not honoring it within reason is ridiculous. The group waiting with us didn't even get into a room while we were leaving well past midnight. The game itself had alot of glitches, the sound would cut, the graphics jumpy, etc. We will reach out to the GM to see if they will do more than 20% off for our next reservation - willing to go again and adjust reviews. read more
