From the moment we walked in, the space had such a chill, artsy atmosphere. The instructor was not only super talented, but also so kind and helpful. He walked us step-by-step through the painting, demonstrating each part on a sample canvas and checking in with everyone as we painted. He kept our mimosa glasses full and refreshed our paint palettes There were also fresh pastries and fruit to nibble on while we painted, and he even helped us take photos and videos throughout the class Whether you're planning a cute date, a girls day out, or just looking for something creative and fun to do in NYC, this is such a unique experience. There are 4 longer…read moreexperiences where you need to join a virtual line and a waiting area with 3 units where you can play a tutorial with two games (robot dance and a shooter game). The virtual line can be accessed here: https://waitwhile.com/welcome/meta-quest-wish. The system will give you an approximate wait time and will notify you when to return via text message. Games available to play were NFL Pro Era (play a quarterback), Beat Saber (slice cubes synced with music), Eleven Table Tennis (ping pong), Space Explorer (360 movie of the ISS space station). My favorite was Beat Saber. You can view others trying the games from the windows outside. The staff was friendly and did a good job of guiding users on how to use the controls. Head sets were cleaned with disinfectant wipes between sessions. At the end take a survey and receive a pair of socks and pins. Definitely worth checking out before it ends on December 11.

This Meta Quest pop up allow you to test out the system before you decide if you wish to purchase the Quest head gear and games. You scan the QR code to check in and wait for the next available game. You can walk around the exhibit and learn about Meta Quest as you wait your turn. It was a cool vibe with all decors in white (white walls). You can view people testing the Quest headgear from the outside as the windows are facing out. At the end of the experience you can decide if you wish to purchase or not. Fill out a survey on the touchscreen pad and get some free swag! Meta socks + pins! Very cool experience!

There seem to be a few more of these high view point experiences besides the Empire State Building popping up in NYC. Definitely check it out while you are visiting.

In hindsight, it was for the best. As it was, I paid extra for priority access, which allows you to skip the lines. But there was no line to get in, and no line for the elevator up. There was a line for the elevator down that I got to skip, but it was only about 10 people, so I basically saved 5 minutes. The whole experience took me about 15-20 minutes. With Top of Rock, you've got the beam, the lift, and the short fun little movie at the beginning, with Empire, you have the historical aspect of it, and with Summit 1, you have the ballroom. There's nothing special or drawing to Edge. The views are ok, but the deck is on the smaller side of the ones I've been to. Security was a little rude and off-putting. The first security guard said I set the alarm off and sends me over to the side. That guy waves me through, then the original guy starts freaking out for me to stop. I go back to the 2nd, and I'm like you waived me through, and he just keeps saying it's ok. And pawing at my stuff, mind I had a clear bag so you see everything in case I set an alarm off. Anyway, It better be ok, I went to stop, and YOU waived me through. Overall, of the observation decks I've done, Edge has been the worst. 1. Top of the Rock 2. Summit 1 3. One Times Square 4. Sloomoo Institute surprised me. With a steep price tag of over $50 per adult and child ticket, I…read morewas skeptical. It looked too gimmicky like the Museum of Ice Cream. However, my slime-loving nine-year-old daughter really wanted to go. As a surprise, I took her. (To save money, only have one adult go.) Here's our experience. 1) Admission: On a Friday afternoon in April, we were able to get tickets online easily. DO NOT WALK IN. You can, but it's the most expensive way to experience Sloomoo. Google promo codes first that work online. A quick Google search revealed three promo codes from influencers that took 20-30% off our tickets. 2) Experience: Once your tickets are scanned and an online waiver is filled out, you'll write your "slime name" on a name tag. Pass through a hall about the history of slime and you're inside the main area. There are several rooms of "buckets" filled with all types of slime with different textures and scents. This was pretty fun and was very relaxing dipping your hands in slime. (Don't worry- you have to wipe your hands clean beforehand with a wipe. There are wipe stations everywhere.) There are a few interactive areas like a giant sling shot, a musical room, a tablet where you pick your slime companion, and a place where you're blindfolded and feel different things in slime holes. (It's not as weird as that sounds.) Part of the experience is making your own slime. You pick what type of slime you want, the scent, the color, and three charms. This took about 20-30 minutes since there are so many scents to pick from. We landed on creamy cloud slime with the passion fruit rose scent, aqua green, and three fruit charms. At the very end, there's an area where you can take off your shoes and walk through slime. Again, you wipe off your feet before and after. Still, if you don't think about how gross it is, it's a unique and fun feeling. 3) Space: There's a single restroom at the start of the museum, but due to a line, staff let us in the staff basement where there are three additional bathrooms. At the very end is a store with all types of slime, slime molds, kits, and more. Our daughter spent $47 of her own money on two slime kits and activator. It's very pricey so limit how much you spend. As a staff member told a kid, "Nothing is free here." 4) Staff: This is where it was a little off. Several staff were a bit odd with the kids. One staff member by the slime making area made a few inappropriate jokes around little kids. Often, staff had to be called to each station so waiting is expected. None were friendly or warm for working with kids. Overall, Sloomoo Institute is worth the experience if you are willing to shell out the money. Our daughter LOVED it and I was surprised how much I did too for having low expectations. However, I'd NEVER come back with that price tag. It's almost offensive.

They obviously still have some hiccups to work out but will inevitably get it sorted I'm sure. The Great Gatsby Immersive Experience is one that will obviously draw comparisons to Sleep No More and Through The Looking Glass. I will say that for those that didn't enjoy the exploratory nature of Sleep No More, you'll find that the experience here is a far more guided and linear experience. The production value isn't quite at the same level as the other experiential theater productions, but it's more than appropriate for the price point and accessibility. Unfortunately a few of the other guests mistook "immersive experience" with "feel free to interject yourself into the performance" which is likely going to be an ongoing problem. Other hiccups like no coat check for bags mean you'll have to lug anything you brought to the show around with you (or take the risk that no one will mess with your belongings). It sounded like they'll probably fix this. There were also instances where you're meant to overhear activities occurring elsewhere, but some of the magic of the show is lost a bit when you can hear a few stray unintentional communications from the production staff. Overall a welcome addition from London to New York that I'm sure will get even better with time.

There was a DJ with great music, food and drink vendors selling everything from rice wine to dumpling themed candles, and plenty of room to wander without it feeling packed. The exhibits were open and incredible. Butterflies, dinosaurs, and even a massive fossil that apparently sold for $44 million. Just casually standing there while you walk by. Surreal in the best way. It was social, interesting, and genuinely fun. Not forced, not cheesy. Easily one of the best things you could do on a weeknight. Would absolutely do this again and highly recommend it if you get the chance.

The butterfly exhibit was okay. i actually thought i'd love it but there wasnt much butterflies during our visit unless they were mostly resting idk. didnt stay long too coz it got hot and we were still wearing out winter coats lol but they were really pretty and i enjoyed watching them from the magnifying glass while they had some fruit.The dinosaur exhibit was nice and educational. The lower level with bugs and insects was probably one of my faves and I wished we spent more time there. However having a toddler in tow can make us quite exhausted lol but nevertheless we had a fun time!
