We got the exact deck we wanted down to real wood and speciality design for our historic brick colonial. Most guys only want to do plastic railings these days. There were no gimmicks--he was direct and no hidden fees. Any possible additional costs were disclosed upfront--which ended up being none. The cost was very reasonable and fair. We hired him in July for replacing broken glass on our window. Timelines: - He came to our house twice in the first week of July and reviewed the work and took the measurements. He confirmed that he can do this job. He said that he will order the glass, it will take 3-4 weeks to get delivered at which point he will come back and install it. He asked for 30% deposit which we gave to him. - We called him in the second week of August to check what's going on and he said that he has the glass and he will come by in the next couple of days to install it. He did come to our house in two days after that. However, after reaching the house and starting to work, he said that unfortunately the glass is not made the right size and he needs to now go back to the glass company. This was already frustrating since he actually dropped by twice in July to take the measurements and still there was an issue with the glass. Anyways, there is nothing we could do at that point so we said ok, we understand and can you please get this sorted soon. He said it will take another 3-4 weeks and we said ok - I called back, messaged in first week of September and he did not respond at all. I called again today and he said that he has had an injury and cannot work for another 1-2 months at least. We cannot have a broken glass for that long and hence for us the only choice is to now go to another contractor. Hence, we politely asked him for the deposit back. To which he replied "You got to be fucking kidding me. There is no way I am going to give you anything back. Don't expect shit from me. Do whatever you want" and hung up. Please, please, please think 10 times before working with this guy. I have since then again sent a polite text to get the deposit back. He has not responded. I am looking to file a consumer complaint soon.
