Even on a Friday night, stores close fairly early in Saint Ignace. I got into town late, and thought I might have been out of luck for some adult refreshments. But, zodiac party store was an oasis in the desert of closed stores. And, this is no tiny country store. There is a tremendous selection of adult beverages of various kinds. And, by far, the coolest thing here is a set of taps that can be used to fill up a 64 ounce growler, or a half growler, for $18 and $12 respectively. And, it would not be a northern Michigan shop if it didn't have souvenirs like T-shirts and drinking glasses. The prices for everything here are reasonable. They even have smoked meats and cheese curds. I will definitely be back here, even if other places are open. read more

Pasties, lots of bottles of alcohol, Upper apparel and more. No Perrier cold water, only carbonated flavored, caffeine is all. We just grabbed a root beer for my hubby. Bathroom is unisex and from the outside looks like an outhouse. read more

My wife stopped there on her way through on 3-16-24 and got some pasties and some other things. All good. Got my credit card statement and it showed another charge over $170 on the next day. Obvious fraudulent charge. Disputing it of course. I've stopped there many times myself without issue. But will only be using cash there from now on. Be careful. read more

Stopped in for pastys carry-out which are homemade on site. We ordered the beef with gravy, and were very happy with our food. The coleslaw is delicious- great little kick of horseradish made it some of the best I've ever tasted!! We'll definitely be back. read more

Best homemade pasties in the UP - OK, I said it. We've been stopping here for years to get frozen pasties by the dozen and they never disappoint. They make them right there in their immaculate kitchen that is in view of customers. We love the beef and the vegetarian pasties. Last week I watched them make corn beef pasties, which have been popular since spring, they said. They are so friendly. It's just a pleasure to stop there. I'm sorry I didn't review sooner. Stop and get a hot or frozen pastie - get some of their gravy (if you like that - I'm a ketchup girl, personally.) They even have mini pasties for dipping into gravy! Give the Zodiac a shot. We eat here then go back later to stock up the cooler before going back to Detroit! Pasties and Fudge are the best. Souvenirs, liquor, and full store. Some of the best pasties I've had in the UP. I would give them a fifth star but that is reserved for my mothers pasties. The crust was perfect and there was plenty of filling. The vegetables and beef ratio were spot on. This will be a regular UP stop for the troll. read more

Had a pasty, beef was super dry. Just potatoes, couldn't notice any rutabaga, and it could've used more onion. The gravy was okay. Convenient to go if you're mainly here for beer or something else, not much to write home about in the pasty front though. Nice lady at the counter! read more

Fresh baked pasties looked great, arguably the best toffee on the planet, great smoked fish, wild rice, jams & jellies, along with the usual party store offerings. Employees are always friendly. grabbing beers before heading out of Michigan. interesting basic selection of whiskies and Upper Peninsula and Alaskan beers. had an apple pasty, average, not bad. As i was loading up stuff on the counter i asked if it was o.k. for me to keep shopping and put my stuff on the counter. She replied, "I don't charge rent" i chuckled, cool reply. nice selection of stuff for out-of-towners not from the area, either. sort-of like a touristy gift shop/pasty bakery/beer store. read more

Pasties: crust is the worst I've ever had. It was soft and thin with a strange texture. Couldn't tell if it was baked in an oven or a microwave. It was certainly not fresh. Didn't find any rutabaga in it... and it needed SALT!!! We didn't try the gravy because we wanted to have them in the car so can't comment on that. My mother made pasties for us to take camping when we were kids. They were the best. All pasties are compared to hers. Clerk was not proactive in helping us-maybe needs some training... but she was pleasant, which is a big plus in my book. Pasties a 2, clerk a 4, Michigander souvenirs a 3. Averaged a 3. First time here. So many people have told me they have the best pasties so I figured I would try it. It was ok. Not the best my any means. I had the beef pastie. Inside was great. Loved the flavor. The crust was eh. This would have been rated 5 stars if the crust was well...crust! It was too soft to be called crust. It was more like filling wrapped in dough. read more

Not a traditional pastie. Can not even compare to Hessel Bakery. Poor crust, dry filling, no spices. Tasteless blob of dough according to my experts. Gravy did help, but it should be able to stand on its own. read more

My usual Pastie place was closed for the winter, so while paying for gas I asked the clerk if there were any pastie places still open. She directed me here and am glad I did. Other than being a bit smaller than the others they are delicious. THe people here are super nice (unlike Lehto's Pasties) and there are many UP foods you can get here. Will stop again. read more

WOW when you walk in the store you get the warm homey feeling - and smell of the roasts cooking for the homemade pasties! We brought some home - back to Niles, MI (south west MI) - and we immediately had some! YUMMMMMMYYYY- We'll be stopping by there again and bring more home - the store itself had quite a bit in it, souvenirs, beverages, T-shirts and tables to sit there and eat.
