Hidden Gem.. Best Beef Jerky and Smoked Fish in town. This is where the locals go. The building looks very rustic on the outside and it is a 5 minute drive from the town of St. IGNACE out on US2. They also carry cheese curds and maple syrup from a farm in Rudyard Michigan. I have been coming here for the past 20 years when I visit during the summer months. read more

The best smoked whitefish I have ever had. Usually, whitefish is "over-smoked"; that is, I can taste a lot of smoke and not a lot of the whitefish. The Country Store's smoked whitefish is considerably more toward the other end of the spectrum: a lightly smoked flavor and plenty of whitefish flavor. The whitefish pate is excellent, too. Well worth pulling off route 2 to stop and get some really good fish! read more

Country Smoked Fish is a family-owned and operated business since 1985. Here at Country Smoked Fish we offer a variety of local wild-caught smoked fish and delicious smoked jerkies. We smoke on site using traditional hardwood-fired smokers. Additionally, Country Smoked Fish also sells locally made fudge, caramel corn, peanut brittle, jams and jellies, wild rice, soft drinks, smoked fish pate, maple syrups and honey and a variety of cheeses and curds. We also offer a small selection of locally made souvenirs and other items. Located on Hwy 2 approximately 7.5 miles west of the Mighty Mac. Look for our smiley-face cheese sign and you've found us!

Well.... we go up there several times a year from Grand Rapids. We always stop at the country store on US2 taste jerky, scenic drive, great overlooks of the bridge. If you go there, ask Diane for "Dolphin Jerky". She don't, it's a joke between us and all those we send to her for her fantastic jerky. read more
