A 1978 AMC Gremlin has seats, wheels, engine, brakes. That doesn't make Gremlin a luxury vehicle. (if you are younger that Gen-X you will need to google this gem). The same applies to this 5 star resort despite what Wyatt would advertise. We rented a cute spacious clean room with a western view of magnificent sunsets! The room is outdated but spacious and comfortable. One can argue that you shouldn't be spending time in the resort suite on a Tropic of Cancer island, but it's still home await from home. The bathroom is large and attractive. The best is the large walk-in shower. the spa is excellent thanks to Lionel, Theresita, and Nora. While attractive and well located on a beach, it does *not* deliver. The management lacks experience or skills for this to qualify as 4-stars, definitely not 5-stars. Yes, it has an attractive facade and excellent location. The staff is friendly and pleasant. But the management seems to be unaware of the lack of quality in the overall experience. Even as i raised issues, I received a blank expression. the services are inconsistent, from room servicing, cleaning, restaurant, and amenities. we requested the concierge to reserve a golf cart 2 days in advance, and they failed to reserve the vehicle. What we did receive was a worn down poorly maintained vehicle that was unsatisfactory @ $150 US for 24hrs. The restaurant was not at the level of resorts of the same class or price range. Service was above expectations! Food was delicious. Plenty of a variety for all! Definitely would recommend. Everything is cooked on a charcoal stove but no strong after tastes. Risotto was little pasty but the seafood definitely made up for it! read more

Very nice upscale setting with a wonderful view. Staff was extremely nice and professional. The steak was outstanding and was cooked perfectly! Homemade pasta and wood fire grill makes this place a must. A little pricey but definitely worth the money. You can taste the grill in each bite. Amazing restaurant! read more

Bluest water you will ever see! This is 5 star for the island isla mujeres. While it's not exactly luxury like rosewood, banyan tree, viceroy in playa del Carmen it's most definitely 5 star for the island and imo the best place to stay here. It's only 35 rooms, really private and quiet which is exactly what we were looking for. The restaurant has the most view of anywhere to eat- with nicest staff and amazing food! Fish and shrimp tacos and their signature ravioli! Had a great candle massage - so relaxing! The romantic dinner is a must! The sunset cruise is a must!!!! The VIP package is worth it. Ana at the front desk is amazing- without her I probably would not have booked. I was Nervous if the place was worth it and going to the island was worth it. So glad we did! She arranged for Julio and the team to pick us up in their private boat. Way better then the huge public ultramar! It's no exes cost either! Eddie is also very helpful at the front and welcomed us so well. The concierge woman is awesome! Do not not get a go cart! Go very early to check out north beach before it gets crazy crowded with people and walk around south point it's STUNNING- do not miss going to south point. Give yourself two hours to go around island if you stop at north and south point. Zoetry is part of Hyatt so that's a bonus to get the points! Be sure to compare hotel prices on all the third party websites - I like To book direct but also will go with third party if the discount is significant. Absolutely gorgeous. The restaurant has a fixed dinner each night each dish is right out of iron chef. Menu changes every night. The other restaurant has very good food and drinks. I indulged in carpaccio fish, meat, sashimi salmon tuna, ceviche, black ink risotto (delicious) and the drinks are wonderful. Service at the pool and beach. Staff is amazing-Juan, Malena, Berenice, Carlos, Yulma, etc. hot tub in our terrace. Unlimited bottles of wine. Steam room in bathroom. Wonderful massage! Definitely coming back! read more

Stolen laptop at the hotel We left on Sep 24 from room 202. I was in rush and while packing I put my laptop on the top of the couch. I forgot it there and left for the hotels's catamaran to go to airport. I wasn't sure I packed it but didn't have a chance to check it and when I landed I noticed it wasn't there. In case my memory falses me, I checked that my suitcase lock wasn't open so even if I packed it, it should have been there but I made sure I left it at the hotel. We called the hotel and they said room service didn't find anything. So I am sure hotel employees stole my laptop. Rooms are small and laptop was at a visible place. There is no way that they missed it. Such a shame that they can hide this and keep someone else's belonging. They postponed me saying they will investigate but it has been a week and they didn't call. Don't go to this hotel. They are sketchy. read more

My spouse and I stayed two nights at Zoetry as part of our anniversary trip this year. We loved it! From the small setting to the service to the jaw dropping views to the amazing food, we can't wait to visit again. Our nights at Zoetry fell at the end of our trip and it certainly made it hard to come home. The resort is small, quiet and a bit cozy (although the suites are large). There are three pools (one is a saltwater hot tub). We were surprised that it never felt crowded at the pool. The pools offer breathtaking views of the sea. My favorite way to spend the day was enjoying the large infinity pool--the only danger was avoiding sunburn. If there is a negative, it's that there isn't much shade available (even with umbrellas) up on the pool deck. So, we spent the hottest part of most afternoons inside our suite, which had a lovely view of the sea. The drinks were top shelf. We enjoyed an espresso after every meal. Margaritas were made with good tequila. Mojitos were fresh and not too sugary. I also had a Bombay Sapphire martini from the Cozy Bar. House wine was fine. After spending most of the week at another all-inclusive, we didn't drink as much alcohol as we might have. We didn't even touch the in-suite tequila or bottle of sparkling wine. We preferred to have our drinks out by the pool or with meals. Zoetry Villa Rolandi is an all inclusive for foodies. At other resorts, I've found the food to be fine with the exception of a few dishes here and there. At Zoetry, I wanted to spend more time just so I could try more menu items. Everything was so delicious and impeccably prepared. When Kevin was showing us our suite, he pointed out the scale in the bathroom and said "But please don't use it because our food is amazing." So true! The true luxury was the way staff anticipated our needs. The pool waiter left two mojitos on our patio table when we stepped in to clean up for lunch. The head waiter at the dinner restaurant offered more sauce for my entree when he noticed I had finished it with meat remaining on my plate. Our time at Villa Rolandi was relaxing and perfect. He is the consummate host who makes a point of getting to know his guests. He manages his staff, with a gentle touch and emphasis on perfection.The smiles and gestures of kindness that come from these VR staff members, is nothing short of, 'best of the best'. All you have to do is ask and your wish is granted. They have an uncanny ability to anticipate your every need. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they didn't make it a game behind the scenes, to know each guests name and favorite menu or drink items. That is dedication, followed by their saying "con mucho gusto" making their personal service, unquestionably genuine. Tipping is neither required or expected, but how can you not reward these hardworking people with your gratitude with a few extra dollars a day during your stay. Maybe it's a result of getting older and set in one's ways, you become a little less adventurous and resort to being exclusive to those places and things that are familiar. The Ultimate Driving Machine is our joy on the road, at sea, we only cruise on Windstar, a pre-dinner Martini to sooth away the rough edges of the day and our favorite place for peace and serenity is Villa Rolandi. It has been said, 'it is the journey that counts, not the destination'. Well, why not make this an extra special journey and upgrade to First Class, on your favorite airline, you'll be met at the airport in Cancun, driven to the marina and taken by Private Yacht to your destination, where nothingness begins.If by chance you have to take the UltraMar ferry service it's quick and efficient. Due to rough seas on our return, the hotel arranged it all dutifully coordinated by Karen the Concierge on hand at the island Ferry dock and at the other end. I gave the company some time to get back to me but it's been over a year since I have emailed them and others within the chain. I am disappointed with no response or apology. We had a 7 day honeymoon stay planned to this hotel and we're ABSOLUTELY dissatisfied with our stay. The service was TERRIBLE. First off we were greeted and explained that we were not to receive the full honeymoon package. Then our jacuzzi was broken for a few days in a row and was only fixed on the third day of our stay. Third, we were asking for the movies on the USB that they offer and it took 3 days for them to get it to us. Fourth, my pedicure was TERRIBLE, nothing close to professional quality and a complete waste of money. FIFTH, I let the hotel know the of my food allergies and when I had requested a special type of pizza that they offered, they simply replied and said " we can't do that- that's too expensive". What do you mean? I paid for 5 star service and it was a HUGE investment. The best part of our honeymoon was away from this hotel, we were unfortunately unable to switch over without paying a huge fine and had to make the most of it so we traveled for dinner to the secrets playa mujeres and secrets de vine- which were the complete opposite of this hotel. I Would Stay Away, Far Away! We were supposed to stay for 7 days but left a day early because we were so unsatisfied with our stay. Pros: - Manager Marco was very nice and tried to accommodate us where ever he could (one of the best managers I've ever dealt with, a real pleasure) - Jesus was also an amazing addition to our very friendly staff - The view was amazing - Food at the French restaurant was amazing. Go every night, it's worth it. - Coffee was delicious - Hotel will do your dirty laundry for free (no dry cleaning though) Cons: - the rooms smelled like raw sewage due to raw sewage leak into the air conditioning ducts - Had to move rooms twice in 3 days because of the contamination of raw sewage in our room, on all of our clothes, suitcases and us Breathing it in (we are both sick in bed now at home) - Day 4 we finally started our vacation and we had a room that didn't smell like raw sewage (we lost 3 days of vacation from all of the drama with the sewage issue) - We were comped a few massages for the inconvenience and my massage therapist coughed on me several times, a deep flemmy cough (she had to be very very sick and she needs antibiotics ASAP) - Beach is tiny, barely a beach actually more like a swimming pool where the ocean would be - BIRDS!!! Scream in the morning and wake you up at 7 - 7:30 AM no matter how deep of sleep these birds are crazy loud - Food at regular restaurant was not good, all night room service was just nasty - Small store next to front desk will scam you bad. Just know everything is negotiable there is no fixed price THIS IS MEXICO! - Bring $100 in cash in $1 and $5 bills for tipping and you will love it and be treated like a king - ATM has $6.00 fee plus 10% of every $1.00 taken out transaction fee which is crazy. I took out $300 and paid an extra $36. BRING CASH (about $500 will do) - Watch out for time share talk, don't fall for it even though you just got there JUST SAY NO! They will try and trick you into listening by giving you things like swimming with the Dolphins for free. I saw a lot of people fall for it and regret it. 1.5 hours turns into 3 hours. So out of our 7 day vacation we got about 2 days of vacation with 3 days of sewage, 1 day being a travel day and another day being home because our stay was exhausting, gross and not truly a vacation. We paid for 7 days and got 2 vacation days in total. Not a good deal and a huge waste of our precious time to relax. I do not recommend it. BUYER BEWARE read more

I was not impressed as I expected to be.The room was average,,with 2 steps for whatever reason that was the same tile as the floor.The drawers of the dresser different fit correctly.Absolute beautiful ocean view.their was jetted tub on patio that we didnt use as the water was not very hot and it wasn't heated,The large shower was cool.With controls on both sides it was great for couple showers,a small nice thing there was a mirror for male shaving.Also a window from bed area which was odd.There was no english TV and no activities so the evening got long unless you went out.I was looking forward to the spa.The free 20 minute treatment was never brought up.both of us had 2 massages and one facial.Nothing special,no foot scrub,or snacks,fruit infused water to make me fill special.with the prices I was expecting the therapist to be great not average.With only one restaurant open food was wonderful but got repetitive .I was impressed we could visit other AMresorts..but there isn.t anymore on the island.I am aware covid might have changed some things. I am still angry that we were talked into paying for a Amstar vacation plan,,We avoided the guys at DREAMs in costa rico but couldn't here.Emma was very cordial but kept pushing forward even after I told her my husband was facing a cancer journey .The 90 minute presentation took 4 hours of our vacation day.Its a professional tag team effort and we fell for it. might return if they are back to pre covid state,The staff are pleasant and very attentive The beach is nice and the island is great.It's cool having the boat take you back and forth .All in all,if you get a GOOD deal go for it ,just don't expect to be blown away read more

I've been coming to Isla Mujeres for several years now, visiting the Villa Rolandi and enjoying the food, drinks, pool, and beach. While the beach waters are a little rougher than on the north/west part of the island, it's still breathtaking and spectacular! The staff at the Villa are superbly warm, welcoming, and make you feel warm and fuzzy. The hotel and its outdoor areas are nothing short of gorgeous. Isla Mujeres is a very special island in the Caribbean whose locales genuinely welcome visitors with open arms and allow you to make their unassuming yet pristine island home for the few days you are here. The locales don't beg for business but aim to make your experience on their island full, with a desire to come back for more. Isla Mujeres is not Cancun, Cabo, Vegas or Miami...it's its own special place. If you're looking for a new experience on a relatively pure island, Isla Mujeres and Villa Rolandi for that matter are phenomenal options to consider. read more

We spent one night at Zoetry Villa Rolandi out of our planned 6-day homeymoon. It was so bad that we asked the manager to transfer us to another AM Properties resort. One of the two pools was closed, not enough deck chairs for even half the guests staying there, old grungy hot tub on our balcony, cheap patio furniture that was ripped and collapsing, broken off knob on one of the shower units, and the most outrageous problem was no hot water. Zero. Once we started talking to other guests we found that the hotel was on day 5 of not having any hot water, with no definite answer as to when it would be fixed. The folks working there are trying really hard to keep a sinking ship afloat, but there's only so much they can do when an owner won't renovate properly. It's a 15 year old property that probably used to be great. But I would STRONGLY recommend avoiding this hotel until they have done a 2-month renovation. Good things: food, customer service, and comfy bed. But that's not enough to cut it when there are MANY other places you could stay. We were moved to Secrets Playa Mujeres, and although it's much bigger, we feel soooo much better. read more
