We had a home built with HDI 2 years ago and were very disappointed with the quality of the build…read more We sold the house after 2 years because of the quality. During the building process we noticed 2 major mistakes when walking around the house on our own. The shower was framed in totally wrong and the 1/2 bath was plumbed backwards. These are mistakes that would have set the build seriously backwards had we not noticed it when we did. The contractors that HDI uses are terrible, for a $350,000 home we expected to have a well built home with quality products....we did not receive this. There are too many issues to list but the top ones include: tiles chipped in a hardly used guest bathroom, in the winter cold air blew right through the windows, the $10,000 wood flooring from Williams Carpet chipped in many areas. Outside trim was not properly painted and inside of house was painted with very cheap paint. Lastly, the built in kitchen appliance were total junk. When these concerns were brought up to Chris, the owner of HDI, we were constantly blown off. His favorite response was to tell us it was an easy fix, like he expected us to fix HIS mistakes. After 2 years the trim was never placed around the built in oven, we finally just stopped asking about it. The father and son that own HDI did not treat us with much respect which was bothersome. So, all in all I would NOT recommend using HDI if you are planning to build a home. There are many hidden costs and the quality of work is subpar at best.
