I've been a long time customer, has to be over a decade now. I am usually very happy with the service and the quality of the work. However this time I had a coat cleaned, and when I received it, it had been heavily sprayed with some sort of perfumed deodorizer. The coat had zero odor when I left it. Now, it reeks of some sort of perfume that is so strong it fills the room. No one asked me if I wanted this, I'm just stuck with it. I'm allergic to strong odors so this is going to make me rethink who does my dry cleaning going forward. read more

Just picked up my my uniforms from this place and I couldn't have been more disappointed. My clothes both smelled and looked horrible. I could have put these in a washing machine and they would have turned out better. I had to take my uniforms to another cleaners and paid $50 to fix what they did. DO NOT GO HERE! I dry clean almost everything in my every day wardrobe. I find that it extends the life of everything I invest in. From tees to jeans and work clothes. I was so happy to find zips when I moved here from new england in 2016. It is affordable, convenient, and works well with my admittedly weird dry cleaning habit. There are things beyond their capabilities... leather, sequins, suede they wont do. So i have to spend a small fortune to get those cleaned elsewhere, and I accept this. I have been going here for quite some time. I started going because the lady that did my dry cleaning for ten years decided to retire which left me scrambling. I was very skeptical at first because the pricing is so competitive but I see that they make it work by running a lot of volume, which can be good and bad. The good part is they can turn things around fast and that is what I like. I am in an industry that demands I wear a suit every day and also running around from inside to outside. I had a Bed Spread Cleaned for the first time about 2 weeks ago. I was really very please when I picked it up from Zips. Now let me tell you this Spread had not be cleaned in anyway since purchased in 2010 for our camper bed. It was so clean I could not believe it. They even repaired a few open seams. I have read bad reports now but I am not sorry that I had it cleaned at Zips in Frederick. I have another one to get cleaned that is more a comfort than a satin Spread. We are on a very limited budget and the price of $19.99 can't be beat. Check other cleaners and they wanted about 30 to 40. Can't afford them!! read more

I would echo "you get what you pay for" but I used to use another ZIPS that was excellent. This location, not so much. For starters, the employees here are not nice at all. More importantly, my items come back not clean. Definitely do not expect spots or stains to be removed. In fact, you might notice new stains that weren't there before. Creases in your pants where they're supposed to be? Haha! You're asking for way too much now. I took a wool coat in that had faux leather and toggle clasps and from what I could understand the cashier saying, they can't clean that kind of coat. I couldn't understand her explanation of why not. If you just need something freshened up, they can do that. But so can Febreze and fresh air. Or get yourself one of those Dryel at-home kits. For thorough cleaning or crisp creases in your expensive suit pants, definitely go elsewhere. read more

We've used this Zips many times but we're definitely going to stop going there. Our clothes often come back really stinky ... like BO stinky! We've complained and they just offer to do them again. Once when we complained, the person said something like, "Oh. Did you bring them in on Saturday?" We hadn't, but it makes me wonder what goes on on Saturday. They obviously wash clothes in dirty water. Go there if you like but I suggest smelling your clothes before you leave. I will not go back. read more

I was looking for a dry cleaner for a few days when I discover ZIPS. I had a male and female wool winter coat that I needed cleaned because they had been in a closet all since last season. I was surprised by the promised speedy turn around time and also the cheap price for dry cleaning. Now I know why. I was told they would be ready in 24 hours which was shocking to me for these types of coats. I went to pick up a week later and one coat was not even cleaned. the clerk could not offer any explanation why it was not cleaned even though I paid in advance. The other coat didn't appear to have been cleaned either since there was dog hair on the coat. I don't even own a dog and it was not dropped it off that way. Both coats are black so everything shows but get real. I guess you get what you pay for so be weary. I notice later that I was owed a refund because there was a ticket attached. I took both coats and left. Maybe stick to shirts only for ZIPS. read more

I find some of the negative reviews for this place to be surprising. I've been using their services for years and have always been very happy with them. If I need a suit back in a short amount of time they will accommodate that. My clothes never smell and always look like brand new when I get them back. No complaints here! read more

The best thing going for this establishment is very inexpensive dry cleaning services. For most of my work clothes, their services are generally adequate. Due to their volume and automated cycle settings, more delicate items can't be handled. The service has been acceptable until a recent very poor, unresolved issue. Last month I dropped off a down comforter to be cleaned. I came to pick it up on the delivery date, the staff initially could not find my comforter. Of the 50 or so comforters, there was one comforter that was not tagged and their response was, that by default this had to be my comforter. It partially looked like my comforter, but when I started to inspect the item there were several things wrong. (1) there were a couple new stains on it that weren't there when dropped off and 2) it smelled like mothballs. This was confirmed by another staff member at the time. The manager tried to work with me to track, and on a couple of other occasions stated that someone would call me. I never received any calls or voice mails. I have even tried to request contact via the Zips corporate site. Also no response. It has taken a couple follow ups to be able to actually to be able to discuss my concerns with an owner. Hopefully this will be ok in a few weeks. read more

We have use this location for several years, their prices continue to creep up to where they're not that much different from other dry cleaners to make it worth going there. But the real reason I will not be using this location anymore is the fact that you walk in if you were not Hispanic they do not even acknowledge you . Instead you were greeted by... Phone number?And when they're done they just hand you the receipt. Not acceptable. Also the fact that they break your buttons and they know it when they're ironing a shirt but continue to deliver the shirt back to you with no buttons! There is one woman who works there who is and has long hair I believe she usually works evenings and she is so friendly, they need to hire more like her not to kids who don't even know how to say hello to customers or thank them for the business. Went back to pick up my laundry today, I was greeted, and I had a totally different experience from the same person, not sure if he was just having a bad day yesterday or if it was addressed. I tend to believe it was addressed since I've had that experience before either way I appreciate it and the service was wonderful this morning. read more

This zips is by far the worst cleaners I have ever used. "You get what you pay for", right? No, not really. The level of incompetence at this location is unreal. How do you even manage to take a new - unworn shirt and return it so that it looks like its 5 years old and covered in mud stains? This is the 3rd time I've had an inexcusable issue with this places. I understand things happen, but I shouldn't receive my clothes back with new stains, blotches of what looks like dried detergent covering the length of the shirt, or brown muddy streaks. Did you think I wouldn't notice? Seriously, wtf? I'm not even going to bother taking the shirt back to be corrected. I'm better off throwing in the street after it rains and running it over. It'll be ruined and filthy just like if I took it to this zips, but at least the results will meet expectations and I'll save time driving back and forth. I have been a regular here for the past 7 years and I must say the service is above and beyond any other dry cleaners in the area. I had lost a belt on my favorite dress and my sons boys scouts uniform lost a patch. I was frantic and called the store. Tammy helped me and even recognized my voice. She got back to me within the hour and had both the things. They are simply awesome. I am so excited and happy and totally elated about the service I got. Very happy with the quick service here. Prices are very reasonable so there is a line sometimes but it moves fast. I had 5 garments cleaned here for about $16 including tax! They look great, freshly pressed. Smell good. I have never had anything dry cleaned before because I thought it was crazy expensive. Definitely not the case here. They are very polite and efficient. I don't have a lot of dry cleaning, but after moving to Frederick from the west coast, was referred to ZIPS by a family member. I was amazed at the very low pricing! I had a velvet shirt and a silk jacket cleaned for only $4.98 and they were perfect. The price for the same items at my old dry cleaner's would have been at least $20. I have been a customer of the location on W Patrick St for many years. The customer service is usually fine. I have had clothing damaged, clothing lost received an apology and a credit, something . That all changed today when I went to pick up my drying cleaning and noticed that one of my tops was not in plastic. I asked why it was not in plastic, I was informed that it was not cleaned because of all the colors. I then noticed a dollar sized hole and a quarter sized hole on the same sleeve. I asked why my top had holes in it.? I was then told it was not cleaned because of the holes. I said it didn't have holes when I dropped it off. Which is it, the holes or the colors because I have had this top cleaned here multiple times. The counter person became very rude and told me he didn't have time for this. He then turned away from me and ignored me. I could not believe his behavior, again this was not the first time there was a problem. His behavior was so disrespectful and I explained to him that I did not understand why he was behaving in this manner. He then asked me what I wanted him to do, I said things happen, they have happened before, but your being rude for no reason. He again said what do you want me to do, I responded nothing, your have lost a long time customer . This is the kicker, when I got home I realized that he had given me another customers dry cleaning. I had to go back to Zips to return the dry cleaning. Then I was met by the young blond headed guy and the dark haired lady from El Salvador, telling me that the holes were there when I dropped my dry cleaning off. I said this is Karma, you make mistakes, you gave me some else's dry cleaning and I had to drive all the way back here to return it so that she did have a problem. I have the customers name but choose not to add it in the review. I will never frequent this Zips again. read more

employees are not interested in customer service or cleaning garments. just got a white coat back with the one same mark i asked them to spot clean. a lady working there said if it didn't come out with dry cleaning it wasn't going to and since customers pay up front and the item was cleaned, their job was done. no one gave the pen spot a second look or offered any solution. cherry on top was getting home and using less than a minutes worth of elbow grease and some tide stain remover and its like nothing ever happened. i'm relieved this wasn't an important item and i fixed it myself. don't go here with anything that needs any amount of TLC or special attention. this place is not more than a money collecting mill with no guarantee about work quality. read more

In all the years I've been on the internet, this is probably my 3rd complaint I've logged. This past Wednesday (I think) evening at about 7pm I walked into the Zips on 40 to get my shirts. I've averaged 5 shirts and a pair of slacks there for the past 2+ years. I've come to learn that everything should be checked before I leave. (see the pictures, if i can figure it out) Anyway, approaching the Zips I saw there were no other customers within, yet 3-4 employees. One guy was vacuuming carpets, one woman was sitting on the far right, one woman sitting behind the cash registers and I believe one woman further in the back. So, I approached the woman near the registers. When I got there and tried to hand over my ticket, she got up and walked several registers over. No eye contact, not a word, and started doing things on the register screen. Well, I guess I'm supposed to go over there. She took my ticket, located the shirts, went to get them, checked me out, and never said a word or made eye contact. Very unsettling, not comfortable, entirely unwelcomed. I check my shirts and find one of the usual problems - the collar had been ironed with a fold right on the tip. I pulled the shirt and asked for that to be fixed. She looked at the shirt but refused to look at me or to take the shirt. She turned to the register and started typing. I asked what was going on, got no response, no indication I was even there. I walked the shirt over to another woman and asked her what was going on. She looked at the shirt, walked it back to the ironing board, and fixed it. She explained the other woman was going to check it back in for a re-do. Poorest service I've had anywhere in a very long time. My suggestion, check your stuff before leaving. And when you to get tired of the very poor service and find a new cleaner, post that info up here... read more

First time using them & I just got my white dress shirts back. They still have the rings around the collar. Did they even wash it? That's a very poor job considering I just wore the shirt once. And it still has wrinkles that need ironing. I think I will have to wash and iron them again. If this is how they do simple dress shirts, I hate to see what they do on more important clothes. Just wasted time & money on Zips. Not coming back and will have to try another place. I'm very disappointed cuz I was really excited about the price, but you get what you pay for. read more

I am very happy with the convenience of this location for me to be able to drop my clothes off on the way to work, and then as well I am able to pick them up on my way home to have my clothes ready for the next day. I have ran into very few issues with this dry cleaners but the few time that I have Doug I believe his name was is very helpful. He is very good at at taking the time to explain the issue with my clothes whether the material will not work in the machines or the buttons on my shirt will be damaged. I am very thankful that someone takes the time to make sure my garments will be handled correctly. read more

My wife and I have use this is location for a number of years now. Most recently have been involved in a 3rd incident where they have either loss a piece of clothing or damaged it so bad that it's unusable. Use this location at your own risk. Management seems to take no professional responsibility for damaging close. Instead they would like to blame it on the manufacture of the clothes. I believe either management and/or the staff is not trained properly or they just don't care about quality work. We have used other zip locations and had no problems it just seems this location and Frederick Maryland is that they problem. Again I say use this location at your own risk it will be definitely worth it for you to spend a little more money and go to another dry cleaner that is more professional and is concerned about their customers. read more

Yeah I'm pretty much in the same boat as most people here. White shirts still have ring around the collar and I feel like I'd be better off washing them in my washing machine and just ironing them afterwards. Makes me wonder why I spend the $1.39 per shirt and $1.99 for anything else. The price is cheap but I expected a lot better than what I got.
