Seriously avoid. I feel scammed/hustled. I visited Zips after seeing a 20% OFF today sign and planned to purchase the second-tier wash at the discounted price. What followed were deceptive practices and concerning payment issues. Red flag #1 - Both card readers were taped over. When I arrived at the payment station, both card readers were covered with tape. After waiting several minutes, an employee came out claiming the readers were "down" and would "charge my card a lot of money" if I used them. He directed me to a handheld tap device he held next to an iPad. He then tried to sell me the top-tier wash for "$1 more", but this was $1 more than the second tier's regular price, not the discounted price I came for. When he then claimed the top wash cost $45 normally, he was pointing at the monthly plan. When I questioned this, he backtracked saying "sorry, my bad" and continued pushing the upsell. I paid $25 for the top-tier wash instead of the second tier at $19.20 (20% off $24) as I expected. Red flag #2 - The wash left soap all over my car. My car exited the tunnel with the entire front still covered in suds. When I asked where I could rinse it off, the employee told me to use their window cleaner and rags. I had to dry wipe soap off my car in their parking lot. He claimed it happened because a brush couldn't lower due to "weight" and said "everybody has to deal with that." Red flag #3 - Receipt issues and hostile behavior. When I requested a receipt for the $25 charge (which I hadn't initially asked for), the employee became hostile. He ordered me out of the office claiming I was "aggressive" (I wasn't) and repeatedly shouted "BYE! BYE!" at me. He then went inside to make a phone call while I waited on the curb. After more than 5 minutes, and only after another customer arrived and was waiting, he brought out a receipt showing a $0 sale with a $30 charge that had been added and removed. It did not match my actual transaction. It also said I had purchased a membership, which I most definitely did not. I had to purchase another car wash elsewhere to remove the soap film before my event. The combination of taped card readers with a fake explanation, payment via standalone tap device, and inability to provide a legitimate receipt has me monitoring my credit card for fraudulent charges. This location used deceptive pricing tactics, provided incomplete service, exhibited unprofessional behavior, and failed to provide proper transaction documentation. The payment setup appears designed to avoid standard processing systems. I strongly recommend avoiding this car wash. read more

The past service and washes were good until we got hit over a 3 month period with continual membership charges. I have cancelled that. Had my CC card cancelled and reissued - and yet again another charge. Thus, we are reluctant to go there at all now. We haven't been in months, but get hit with continual cc charges. read more

I quit using Zips some time ago due to poor service and broken equipment, however, I had a few gift cards that I wanted to use. Went to two Zip locations and the card readers could not verify the gift cards. Employee told me they had no way to determine the balance on the cards. The card reader was taped closed. Such incompetence and fraudulent. read more

Not recommended for a large vehicle like a full size pickup truck. Just doesn't clean well. This location does not spray under the vehicle which is what I wanted. Also the vacuum was clogged and since they were under staffed, they were not able to fix it. read more

I was charged a membership fee when I repeatedly said no I did not want a membership. The attendant said the outside scan reader was not working and took my card inside, which I was not happy about. He came back and said car wash was taken care of and then I find out a month later that I have been charged a reoccurring membership fee. This happened to three other of my friends so imagine how widespread this problem can be! It took 30 minutes on the phone with somebody to cancel a membership I did not agree to. $18 and my car is still dirty. I've had better results with other automated car washes. There was someone to help take my money, just a plain clothes man who didn't identify himself in any way, but reached out and took my debit card. Other places have a light and sounds to let you know if you need to pull forward, stop or back up. This left you guessing. BEWARE! My elder Mother went there to get her car washed in April, has always enjoyed the service here. That day she went, the young girl that was assisting her with her payment had asked if she wanted to sign up for a Membership the monthly fee $12.50 to have unlimited car washes. My mother said no thank you I do not come out that often. AS the girl went to take the payment in the machine next to my mom, she stopped and said, "Oh, sorry but the machine won't take the card here at this machine, so I have to go inside and run it" My mom said OK. Girl came back with card and said you are all set..... Well, that's what we though. Now May, a month later my mother receives her visa statement, notices a charge of $12.50 from Zip Car wash, hmmmm. She calls me and tells me the above story, I call them, they asked me her email, I give it to them and the gentlemen said, no I am sorry but that is not the email we have on file. REALLY??? I say, because she only has 1 email and her children created it. So, I ask what email he was showing, he reads off this email that she has never had in her life! So basically, in a nutshell, this GIRL, lied about the machine in which my mom was in front of (that it was not taking her card) went into the building, created a FAKE EMAIL and charged my mom the Membership fee (IN WHICH SHE STATED TO THE GIRL SHE WAS NOT INTERESTED IN) HOW MESSED UP IS THAT! It is terrible that people take advantage of the elderly. Shame on that girl for scamming my Mom to her face. Karmas a bitch! She most likely had a quota to meet on Memberships but that is NOT the way to do it. Deceiving people is ugly, and she should be ashamed of herself. Zips Car wash should not employee dishonest people, reflects badly on your business. SO, I URGE ANYONE USING THIS ZIP CAR WASH IN LYNCHBURG VA, BEWARE OF THEM SAYING THE MACHINE IS NOT TAKING THE CARD AND I HAVE TO TAKE YOUR PAYMENT INSIDE. read more

Users Beware! Last Friday, in April 2024, my husband and I took our car through the Zips car wash in Forest, Virginia and the swing arm of one of their washers bashed in my rearview window and even though we were honking the horn incessantly they didn't turn it off, so then it proceeded to dump water and soap into my car and then The rags that whip it around started slinging the glass throughout my car. Although we were told initially that they would take care of it quickly, they have done nothing, I mean nada. Fortunately, a manager (at least he's actually acting like a manager, but he's not really a manager) an Amazing employee named Jimmy/Jameke reviewed the video footage to prove that that is actually what happened. It also ripped off our front bug shield off the car. He helped us fill out all the documents and their manager and then their safety manager reviewed the videos and documents and they did confirm that it was their responsibility and fault but have not even put the insurance claim in yet after seven days! It's supposed to rain tonight, which will cause further damage to my vehicle and I am an Uber driver, so I haven't been able to use my car to make money. I've been without work for the week and for the foreseeable future as they drag their feet. It is not safe to drive with the entire rear windshield busted out. And I'm sure Uber customers would not appreciate that either. They have NOT offered me a rental car. They haven't been in contact with us. They are slow if ever to respond. They are lazy, selfish, and of poor character, except for this amazing employee that is the only one that has been in contact with us and is doing anything about it. We have been premium members of Zips car wash, but we will never use their services again, and are considering suing them for damages now since it's deprived me of my livelihood, and is sitting in danger -exposed to the elements! I wrapped it in plastic, but that won't keep out the torrential rains of Virginia. They haven't even offered to clean out my car! They are corrupt and deserve to pay the consequences of their incompetence & irresponsibility. I have delayed a week at great cost to myself patiently waiting for them before I posted this negative review - I was holding out hope -but now I will let the public know. I would greatly CAUTION you unless you also don't mind losing the loss of your vehicle and patiently waiting for them to do whatever they like on their own timetable to fix what they have broken - not to mention not having the use of your vehicle. I will add, that wven if you've never had a problem with Zips car wash with your car, you should also know that (as I said we were premium members) and had been through there many many times with this EXACT vehicle. It was just a malfunction of their equipment this time, so I would highly recommend, you don't gamble with your property & stay away or do a hand wash yourself, save your money, your time, grief, and loss of income. This business will always get my business. They are absolutely wonderful, polite, friendly, and professional. They always have rags for wiping down the vehicle, and you cannot beat the vacuums. I highly recommend this business for getting your vehicle cleaned up. read more
