Recently I went through the car wash and the glass of my passenger side mirror was knocked out. I didn't realize it until I left the location and tried calling but received no answer. I had no intentions of filing a claim or requesting compensation for the mirror but after speaking with a friend who suggested talking to the car wash, I figured I'd give it a try. The manager told me I'd need to fill out an incident report and Corporate would determine if they would approve or decline the claim. I had a manager follow up about 3 days later. I missed her first call and called back within 5 minutes but she had already left for the day. On the second call, she told me that because my vehicle was over 10 years old, Corporate denied the claim. When I inquired further, she then pivoted and said that there was something missing from behind my mirror that keeps it intact and they could provide photos and videos from the wash. As I expressed to her, I didn't expect anything but the reasoning behind the denied claim was insulting. She gave me 2 reasons with limited explanation and ultimately resulting in it being a fault of my own. I asked if I could escalate it further and she told me she could have Corporate give me a call but the answer wouldn't change. I've visited the same car wash and have gotten the same type of wash with my monthly membership with no problems until now. The cost of the replacement glass was $20 and would have been a small cost to maintain a customer. As a result of this incident, I've cancelled my membership and won't be visiting this location again.

That said, they are only "free" for paying customers. If you want to use just the vacuums, it'll cost you $5. In the end, it was a sweet deal because these ones really suck! Plus, they have an air spray hose for blasting crud out of the tighter, hard to reach gaps. Worth mentioning, however, that this is not a no-touch system so there is the potential of vehicle damage. The self service vacuum bays also seem to be in good shape, though I don't frequent them as much as I do the wash line. I find my preferred approach is to have my vehicle detailed exquisitely once or twice a year, and then I use a service like this to help maintain it. Not sure if they still offer it, but in years past Auto Bell offered a better value on a monthly wash plan and it included having a staff member clean the glass, wipe down the vehicle interior and dry the exterior. Their basic full service wash, inside and out, for a full size SUV is only $40. Excellent customer service and they do a really great job. They are way better than the typical full service car washes. For comparison, their basic in and out wash results in a cleaner car than getting an ultimate wash with all of the optional upgrades at Auto Bell. Plus, The Wash is cheaper. It's a good idea to call ahead, especially during the spring/summer. If you don't make an appointment and they're really busy, it can take hours. The location isn't glamorous (it used to be an old gas station) and there isn't a great waiting area, so I usually bring my own lawn chair. They do have a couple benches. If you're okay with that, there isn't a better place in Greensboro to get your vehicle washed at such a great value!
