Kicked their foot through the back of my bookcase.
    Kelly E.

On May 9, 2024, I reached out to Zippy-Shell, dba Pack-Rat ("Pack-Rat"), and spoke to company employee, Ray Gudeman. He emailed me a generic price page for local moves, then directed me to Forrest Maynard, Long Distance Sales manager for Pack-Rat, out of the North Carolina headquarters. My request was for a move from Henderson, NV to Marcola, OR. At the behest of Mr. Maynard, I completed a reservation form and locked in the price of $11,248.00, to which we had agreed verbally. On May 20, 2024, Mr. Maynard offered me a senior discount, lowering the price to $10,750, which I accepted. He also advised me that my move would require only 4 containers. Within a day or two Pack-Rat sent at local "expert" to my home to do a walkthrough to determine if 4 units were enough. The expert's walkthrough was, in my opinion, very thorough, and included view of some large items, e.g., 7' work bench, patio furniture, 6' x 36' dog run, three 50-gallon water barrels, and three horse watering troughs. From the walk-thru it was determined that a 5th container would be required and that the new price would be $13,680 (this was later adjusted to $12,500, given that we chose to move to a destination which shorted the haul by several hundred miles). Mr. Maynard advised me via email that we would be packed up on January 17, 2025, and that we would be furnished with unlimited moving blankets and given 1-month free storage in Boise, ID, our destination city. No other changes were discussed nor were any other changes brought to our knowledge. My husband and I were shocked on the January 17th moving day to learn that Pack-Rat then determined that it would not only take 3 more containers to move us, but that we would have to pay for those containers as well. To our added surprise, not only did Pack Rat not move the contents of the dog run (we moved it), the workbench, the water barrels, and the horse tanks, but their actions demonstrated that the so called "expert" walk-through was without credibility, given that ultimately the company required the use of even more containers. Clearly, the original estimate, as well as the walk-through, were little more than a guess or a low-ball. Then, once our items arrived at their storage location in Boise, Pack-Rat refused to release those items to us until we paid the full balance they claimed was owing, bringing our total outlay to $20,100. In order to get access to these items, I had to pay Pack-Rat the final balance. Notwithstanding promises made to the contrary by Mr. Maynard and company agents, Pack-Rat committed other offenses as well. By way of example, and not of limitation: a) the company attempted to bill us for fuel charges, stair charges at the new residence, blanket charges, and various supply charges; b) they refused to repair or reimburse us for a cracked-in-half oak kitchen table, broken floor lamp, smashed collectable mugs, a hole kicked through the back of a hardwood bookcase, and c) they managed to lose a number of valuable items. My attempts to communicate with personnel of Zippy-Shell/Pack-Rat were not only incredibly disappointing but became increasingly frustrating to the point of maddening. I was treated with disrespect and passed from one person to another, none of which brought to me the satisfaction I sought, so desperately needed, and deserved. Management personnels' smug denials with regard to their failure to adhere to the agreed upon pricing and services, their condescending treatment of me, and their dishonest act of holding our goods hostage, not only speaks to Pack-Rat's total lack of credibility, but it smacks of what I have concluded, was dishonest intent from the start. Based on my experience, the buyer would do well to pass on what is, in my opinion, a classless organization, as it will likely result in the buyer's peril.

These guys damaged 2 out of 15 wood pieces and said it wasnt due to their move or packing. Did not even offer to polish or attempt minor repairs. Also punched holes in the walls of my BRAND NEW home and refused to fix it.

If I could give this company no stars it would ve appropriate. They partner with 1800 PACKRAT. My husband and I moved from WA to AZ. We spoke to Favrin Williams who set us up with a Pod and asked about us needing help with the move. We agreed we did need help as we are no longer at an age that lifting and moving our own furniture is a good idea. Zippy offers assistance for two hours of move help at an additional cost and we were happy to be signed up. We signed up for the insurance coverage and paid our deposit. The day our trailer was loaded I showed the movers what to move and gave them a stack of blankets. We were only putting furniture in the pod (which turned out to be nothing but a steel cage. I thought this was odd that it was not an actual pod/trailer. I work from home so I went back to my office while the movers in less than two hours loaded up the furniture. Two weeks later when we arrived in Arizona our Zippy Shell arrived and to our horror every single piece of furniture was damaged in one form or another. The third party movers did not use any of the moving blankets we provided. There were gouges and gashes on my dining set, by end tables, my bedroom dresser etc. Our bedset was ripped apart and hardware missing. I was in tears. The men who unloaded our trailer even commented they never saw such disregard for someone elses belongings. Believing that we were at least covered since we purchased insurance, we filed a claim. Our Claim was denied. We were told the insuance did not cover the failur to properly load the trailer. Are you kidding me? We used their third party sub contractor. I thought this has to be a misunderstanding so we appealed the denial. Three weeks later our appeal was again denied. No one will return my messages or call me back to explain why they are not responsible for their subcontractor. They are cowards. They sent both denial letters after the close of business and then will not return your calls or speak to you. I have submitted a claim to the BBB. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, After looking at their profile you cannot leave a review for them on their own website, Google or Facebook. Thank goodness for Yelp. I am only providing a few photos and hope I prevent someone else from ever having to go throught this. We paid $4000 for this, the replacement value is $11,000. Don't let this happen to you.

John the lead center, Dan, Alex, David and Eddy. Great job guys!
    Sheri D.

Excellent service starting with Brian, the owner all the way to the five amazing guys that came to help pack and load two Zippy Shells to be transported to MA. John, the lead is a patient and polite wizard at loading. I seriously doubted all our stuff was going to fit! He was determined! 4 other gentleman, Dan, Eddie, David and Alex were outstanding in there efforts as well. We also had them pack the kitchen. I just can't say enough about the reliable and outstanding service we received! And the cost is much more reasonable than hiring a typical moving company! Thank you Zippy Shell!!!

****SCAMMERS****STAY AWAY**** I've moved 10 times in the last 8 years and they are the worst. Totally tried to scam us. Because I move so much we have the packing and wrapping down to a science. The movers even stated how immaculate our pack job was and how thankful they were for us being so organized and ready so why did I get a call from our "liason" a few hours after our move telling me we owed money for additional packing supplies and tape? Once I disputed and stated they took our left over supplies they conveniently dropped it. Next up, durning our time in storage we were told we owed additional monies for a "transportation fee" Knowing of this extra hidden charge I negotiated not to pay this up front. They still tried to charge me, then told me they listened to my recorded calls and said the conversation about this was not in there. I then told them the time, date and who I spoke to and magic- they found it in the recordings, extra charge #2 avoided. 3rd attempt to scam me; after paying for extra insurance and our shell arrived at the final destination our stuff was destroyed! Again, I move alot and have never ever had this amount of damage in all the moves combined. AFter several months of dispute with no return calls or emails I threatened to call the local news team and wallah, dispute resolved, this was somehow my fault on how I packed my items, extra paid for insurance did nothing becasue it was "how I packed" not how it was loaded, stored or transported. When I tried to dispute the dispute those emails also went ignored and unanswered. I would never ever used zippy shell again and big mistake on their part as much as I move. Getting a pod is way better and you can use hire a helper yourself for loading and off loading. If you do use their sister company, packrat, dispute the extra charge up front. I have used them before and the experience was much better than this. See the photos for yourself and make your own decision but my advice is STEER CLEAR!!!!

    Zippy Shell delivery

We are happy to recommend Zippy Shell to anyone needing to move their household items in convenient shell storage units. The service is great so far, and our delivery driver Lance is the best. He's knowledgeable and made sure our needs were considered. When delivery time came, there wasn't any parking available in our neighborhood. Lance was great enough to return after some time when we finally got our spot saved with enough room for the shell. Our worries were put at ease. Thanks guys, so far, so good.

My largest items were a couch, king-size bed and bed frame, TV, and a four-person dining table. Everything else fit into just 9 large moving boxes after they packed my belongings. I was also moving only one mile away. At their quoted rate of $185 per hour for three movers, I expected the job to be completed within their 3-hour minimum, or maybe 4 hours at most. To be fair, the movers packed everything carefully, and nothing was damaged. The office staff also communicated well whenever I called. The problem was the amount of time it took. The move ended up taking 7 hours, which I simply cannot understand. Five hours into the job, the crew was still packing, so I called the office to express my concerns. Their explanation was that my apartment had three flights of stairs. While I understand that stairs add time, I don't believe they justify turning what should have been a relatively small move into a seven-hour job. Even accounting for the stairs, I would have expected 4 hours, maybe 5 at the absolute most. Instead, I ended up paying around $1,600 for a move that covered just one mile. I walked away feeling like the job took much longer than it should have and that I was being billed for unnecessary time. If you're considering EcoMovers LV, be aware that this was my experience. While they did a good job packing my belongings and the office communicated professionally, the overall cost and time made me feel like I was being milked for every billable hour. I would not use them again, and I hope this review helps others know what to watch out for before booking.

Simply put, this was the best moving experience I've ever had--from the first phone call to the final box unloaded. Karol responded to my initial inquiry quickly, accommodated my preferred moving dates, and was completely transparent about pricing from the start. Their rates were very reasonable, but don't mistake affordable for low-quality service. She even called the day before the move, exactly as promised, to confirm all the details. On moving day, Edgar and his crew arrived at 7:30 a.m.--a full 30 minutes early. In all my years of moving, I had never experienced movers arriving ahead of schedule. After a quick walkthrough of the house, including the revelation that it was a three-story home, there was no hesitation, no complaints, and no discussion of extra fees. Edgar simply smiled and said, "Okay, we'll get started." The team worked tirelessly in the intense Las Vegas summer heat, handling everything with professionalism and care. They packed and loaded efficiently, treated our belongings with respect, and even secured the old house when they finished loading. (While I was still inside! LOL) Throughout the day, they remained friendly, hardworking, and genuinely kind. It was a pleasure getting to know them during the move. What impressed me most was the combination of outstanding service and value. When I told my wife the final cost, she was genuinely shocked--it came in at less than half of what we had budgeted. After collecting multiple quotes during our planning process, Jackie Movers was already among the most reasonably priced options. Yet they delivered a level of service that far exceeded any moving company I've worked with before. Edgar and his crew set a standard that others should aspire to. They worked hard, cared about their customers, and made a typically stressful day remarkably smooth. I would not hesitate to use Jackie Movers again and will enthusiastically recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable moving company. Not good: 11 hours with a 4 man crew, over $1900. Not to move, just pack and load a house where we did A LOT of prep. 4 bd 3 ba. Nearly all of the garage items packed and staged. Backyard, packed and staged. Master closet and bath and master clothes, packed. Pictures pulled off walls and staged. One bedroom empty. Loft empty. Another bedroom, 3 items. 3 of 4 TVs were already packed (smallest 40" TV left). They spent 4 hours in the kitchen. This was the biggest part for sure and we have a lot of kitchen items. But it wasn't 16 labor hours big. My wife and I could have done that in 2 hours (and I guess we should have!). There were three furniture items to disassemble, a king bed, a crib, and a dining table. Dining table was not disassembled. They recommend buying your own packing supplies. No further guidance. So I purchased the $600 Uhaul kit, plus other items. Well, we needed a trip to the store to buy more tape. Then we needed a trip to the store to buy more moving blankets. Bought out the entire Uhaul, 15 blankets, $150. Brought them home and nearly immediately we were asked for more blankets. Half of the other supplies were not used (thankfully Uhaul lets you return unused items) which almost balanced out the blankets. 3 of 4 wardrobe boxes were unused (seems like those would have been good for the pillows, blankets and sheets sitting unpacked in the driveway). TV box, unused, cannot return that one (what did they pack the TV in? I'm scared to find out). 4 loading straps to secure the furniture in the containers, unused. Towards the end, unpacked goods starting going randomly into the containters. No wall or floor coverings/protection were used. I thought this was standard practice. Lots of scuffs and scratches on the LVT floors. Thankfully we were getting the carpets cleaned the next day. It seemed like we got an inexperienced crew. One older gentlemen knew the business and the others were mostly clueless. They rarely split up which is strange. In past moves, I've had a crew where 2 would pack the kitchen and the rest would wrap and breakdown furniture and stage. Then they converge to load. No efficiency in that regard. Overall, well done fitting the home into two containers with efficient space use. But this 11 hour ordeal ended up costing us way more than we anticipated.
