Zippy Shell is the best because of its amazing staff. Its support and customer service is by far the best I have experienced in the moving business in the last 10+ years. Their Customer Care and Delivery Teams were fantastic, including Aaron (who picked up my Zippy Shell container at the destination). I have moved items from the West Coast to East Coast and back several times over the years. It is not easy moving a lot of items over a long distance without paying an arm and a leg or losing/breaking things. Zippy Shell gave me confidence that my belongings would arrive without issue (and it did). I initially signed a contract with a full, comprehensive moving service, but after hours wasted on multiple phone calls/no-shows, I ended up cancelling the service due to lack of reliability and trustworthiness from their staff. In contrast, the Zippy Shell agent on the phone worked to make the service perfect for what were important to me: budget and reliability. I wish I could remember the name of the first person that helped me at Zippy Shell in the Customer Care team. He was fantastic and gave me the confidence to go sign the agreement that day even though it was not the cheapest quote I had received. There are always little hiccups (e.g. the Zippy Shell and Pack Rat systems don't seem to play nice), but Zippy Shell has been fantastic overall! There was a team of 6 that showed up for the job. They were nice and professional. As a matters of fact, their team lead pointed out the crack in the TV after it got moved to our new residence. He assured us we would be able to submit a claim and it would be taken care of. The claim was ultimately denied and they said it's because we can't prove the TV wasn't like that prior to the move. So basically when we did the initial walk through, not a single one of the 6 men noted the crack?Interesting. Read other reviews and do your own research before using this company. On May 9, 2024, I reached out to Zippy-Shell, dba Pack-Rat ("Pack-Rat"), and spoke to company employee, Ray Gudeman. He emailed me a generic price page for local moves, then directed me to Forrest Maynard, Long Distance Sales manager for Pack-Rat, out of the North Carolina headquarters. My request was for a move from Henderson, NV to Marcola, OR. At the behest of Mr. Maynard, I completed a reservation form and locked in the price of $11,248.00, to which we had agreed verbally. On May 20, 2024, Mr. Maynard offered me a senior discount, lowering the price to $10,750, which I accepted. He also advised me that my move would require only 4 containers. Within a day or two Pack-Rat sent at local "expert" to my home to do a walkthrough to determine if 4 units were enough. The expert's walkthrough was, in my opinion, very thorough, and included view of some large items, e.g., 7' work bench, patio furniture, 6' x 36' dog run, three 50-gallon water barrels, and three horse watering troughs. From the walk-thru it was determined that a 5th container would be required and that the new price would be $13,680 (this was later adjusted to $12,500, given that we chose to move to a destination which shorted the haul by several hundred miles). Mr. Maynard advised me via email that we would be packed up on January 17, 2025, and that we would be furnished with unlimited moving blankets and given 1-month free storage in Boise, ID, our destination city. No other changes were discussed nor were any other changes brought to our knowledge. My husband and I were shocked on the January 17th moving day to learn that Pack-Rat then determined that it would not only take 3 more containers to move us, but that we would have to pay for those containers as well. To our added surprise, not only did Pack Rat not move the contents of the dog run (we moved it), the workbench, the water barrels, and the horse tanks, but their actions demonstrated that the so called "expert" walk-through was without credibility, given that ultimately the company required the use of even more containers. Clearly, the original estimate, as well as the walk-through, were little more than a guess or a low-ball. Then, once our items arrived at their storage location in Boise, Pack-Rat refused to release those items to us until we paid the full balance they claimed was owing, bringing our total outlay to $20,100. In order to get access to these items, I had to pay Pack-Rat the final balance. Notwithstanding promises made to the contrary by Mr. Maynard and company agents, Pack-Rat committed other offenses as well. By way of example, and not of limitation: a) the company attempted to bill us for fuel charges, stair charges at the new residence, blanket charges, and various supply charges; b) they refused to repair or reimburse us for a cracked-in-half oak kitchen table, broken floor lamp, smashed collectable mugs, a hole kicked through the back of a hardwood bookcase, and c) they managed to lose a number of valuable items. My attempts to communicate with personnel of Zippy-Shell/Pack-Rat were not only incredibly disappointing but became increasingly frustrating to the point of maddening. I was treated with disrespect and passed from one person to another, none of which brought to me the satisfaction I sought, so desperately needed, and deserved. Management personnels' smug denials with regard to their failure to adhere to the agreed upon pricing and services, their condescending treatment of me, and their dishonest act of holding our goods hostage, not only speaks to Pack-Rat's total lack of credibility, but it smacks of what I have concluded, was dishonest intent from the start. Based on my experience, the buyer would do well to pass on what is, in my opinion, a classless organization, as it will likely result in the buyer's peril. read more

Review Title: Very Disappointed with My Recent Move I've used this moving company before through my sister, who has always had great experiences, but unfortunately, my recent move was extremely disappointing. The crew that arrived consisted of one older mover 60+ who moved very slowly and a younger mover who became sick during the job and puked in my toilet for 15 minutes; had to take a long break. Because of this, the move took much longer than expected. I paid over $450 for roughly three hours of work, and in the end, all of my belongings were simply left in the kitchen and living room rather than being placed where they belonged. For the price and the company's reputation, I expected a more professional and efficient team. I strongly recommend ensuring that moving crews are physically capable and properly prepared before being sent out to handle customer jobs. While customer service seems great, there are hidden charges and deception in their service. Late for the service and slow in moving. There was cash requested for any thing that seem important/unique to move. Constant personal phone conversations and stopping to chat with among workers, delaying the move. There was a discount offered at original booking. Paid in full and one month later I received a final invoice with additional charges and discount not matter. I am extremely disappointed with my experience. I was given a confirmed delivery date for my POD, even receiving a confirmation text message that it would be delivered. The delivery never happened, and now I have been told it will be significantly delayed. Because of this, I am left without my belongings, and my special needs children are without many essential items they need every day. The lack of communication, reliability, and urgency in resolving this issue has caused serious hardship for my family. If I could give this company no stars it would ve appropriate. They partner with 1800 PACKRAT. My husband and I moved from WA to AZ. We spoke to Favrin Williams who set us up with a Pod and asked about us needing help with the move. We agreed we did need help as we are no longer at an age that lifting and moving our own furniture is a good idea. Zippy offers assistance for two hours of move help at an additional cost and we were happy to be signed up. We signed up for the insurance coverage and paid our deposit. The day our trailer was loaded I showed the movers what to move and gave them a stack of blankets. We were only putting furniture in the pod (which turned out to be nothing but a steel cage. I thought this was odd that it was not an actual pod/trailer. I work from home so I went back to my office while the movers in less than two hours loaded up the furniture. Two weeks later when we arrived in Arizona our Zippy Shell arrived and to our horror every single piece of furniture was damaged in one form or another. The third party movers did not use any of the moving blankets we provided. There were gouges and gashes on my dining set, by end tables, my bedroom dresser etc. Our bedset was ripped apart and hardware missing. I was in tears. The men who unloaded our trailer even commented they never saw such disregard for someone elses belongings. Believing that we were at least covered since we purchased insurance, we filed a claim. Our Claim was denied. We were told the insuance did not cover the failur to properly load the trailer. Are you kidding me? We used their third party sub contractor. I thought this has to be a misunderstanding so we appealed the denial. Three weeks later our appeal was again denied. No one will return my messages or call me back to explain why they are not responsible for their subcontractor. They are cowards. They sent both denial letters after the close of business and then will not return your calls or speak to you. I have submitted a claim to the BBB. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, After looking at their profile you cannot leave a review for them on their own website, Google or Facebook. Thank goodness for Yelp. I am only providing a few photos and hope I prevent someone else from ever having to go throught this. We paid $4000 for this, the replacement value is $11,000. Zippy Shell is a must if you are storing stuff. Bringing a shell to you not only saves money and time but also the life of your furniture. It is half the wear and tear of a normal move because once your furniture is in the shell it does not have to be removed into a separate storage unit--it gets delivered intact back to you! Talk about Zippy--my moves are never under 12 hours but they loaded 80% of my 4400 sf house in 3.5 hours. It was almost too fast. Some of the shells weren't packed as full as they could be. The movers even stated how immaculate our pack job was and how thankful they were for us being so organized and ready so why did I get a call from our "liason" a few hours after our move telling me we owed money for additional packing supplies and tape? Once I disputed and stated they took our left over supplies they conveniently dropped it. Next up, durning our time in storage we were told we owed additional monies for a "transportation fee" Knowing of this extra hidden charge I negotiated not to pay this up front. They still tried to charge me, then told me they listened to my recorded calls and said the conversation about this was not in there. I then told them the time, date and who I spoke to and magic- they found it in the recordings, extra charge #2 avoided. 3rd attempt to scam me; after paying for extra insurance and our shell arrived at the final destination our stuff was destroyed! Again, I move alot and have never ever had this amount of damage in all the moves combined. AFter several months of dispute with no return calls or emails I threatened to call the local news team and wallah, dispute resolved, this was somehow my fault on how I packed my items, extra paid for insurance did nothing becasue it was "how I packed" not how it was loaded, stored or transported. When I tried to dispute the dispute those emails also went ignored and unanswered. I would never ever used zippy shell again and big mistake on their part as much as I move. Getting a pod is way better and you can use hire a helper yourself for loading and off loading. If you do use their sister company, packrat, dispute the extra charge up front. The second time we used them we noticed some of the same people who helped move us the first time 2 years ago!! Everyone is really nice and they are wearing masks while moving your stuff. They have cages they put your stuff in and they shove it in there and they ripped the paint off your furniture and then they don't take responsibility so I don't recommend them. Brian was prompt in giving me a quote and explaining the process. He was also easily reachable through text for confirmations and a follow up text and phone call when everything was complete. On moving day the crew arrived early and they even complimented my packing and organizing skills. Being early worked out perfectly and the whole move ended up taking less time than expected. Jesse was the crew leader and he had me do a walk through of the old and new place and explain everything I wanted to be moved and where. They were very courteous and even offered to help me move some of the things that I was packing in my car. They toughed it out in the hot Vegas heat and I could see they were being efficient with their time, but also taking care of my belongings. Horrible experience with Zippy Shell/Pack Rat. Warning to anyone considering using either of these two companies. Zippy Shell ads draw you in with promises for a worry-free, low cost alternative to traditional van lines. My experience was anything but. A Zippy Shell employee visited my home and personally inventoried my household goods and also recommended an independent company to crate miscellaneous fragile objects. This representative was very clear that all my goods, including items crated by their recommended contractor, would fit into two of their standard shipping containers. Not once did any company representative suggest that I would need a third container. As the bid was competitive, I entered into agreement with Zippy Shell, relying on their so-called expertise in estimating. On moving day things started going south when the packers told me space was an issue, and that I had to shrink 6 wardrobe boxes down to 2. Then I watched as 3 very large garage cabinets were taken off the truck and put back into my garage. The final straw was that none of my patio furniture would fit in the provided containers, and I was informed that these items would not be a part of the transfer. It was too late to unpack, so I was left standing in the drive of my home, two days before closing, with several items slated to be left behind! I had numerous conversations with Zippy Shell and Pack Rat representatives. Each and every one of them had the same position. It was my fault the items they inventoried exceeded their provided transport facilities. The offered solution was for me to pay an additional fee to cover transport of the items left behind. That's right - blame the customer! Zippy Shell's "solution" to make me spend even more money to make up for their inaccurate estimate was absolutely unacceptable. They absolutely refused to credit the contract for the value of abandoned items. This is how Zippy Shell treats a senior citizen customer. So, beware of these companies. Don't hire. The move was not a good experience. When I hired them, I confirmed the items that needed to be moved along with a 2nd stop at a storage unit. Not only did the movers leave items behind they never made it to the storage unit. I also had to drive back to the old home twice to get screws the movers left behind to assemble the bed and dining room table. Ray only accommodations was taking an hour off the moving time which was not even the amount of time I spend driving back and forth to the home to get the screws. Then to add insult to injury they damaged the walls in the new home. Also, I had to hire new movers to complete the move. I completely understand that the evidence I was able to provide was minimal, but the way I was treated like a number and not a person was unacceptable. No one ever called me for further details after I submitted my claim. I requested for them to please contact me so I could try to see what else I could do or provide to help my case. Overall had a great experience with these guys. I was the first move of the day which I would recommend to anyone since the movers have full energy. They were VERY fast, which I appreciated since I was paying by the hour and then 15 min increments. They wasted no time, and showed up on time too. Unloaded smooth as well and made sure to ask where each and every box was set to go. Only knocked a star due to a handful of scratches left on the vinyl flooring and in the walls. I think this was because they were moving so fast they ended up dropping a few things too hard while getting ahead of themselves. Looked at the "steel container" guys and then looked into Zippy Shell. Just like their ads say on TV, moving sucks, Zippy Shell doesn't. Las Vegas ZS definitely doesn't. These guys were great. Dropped the 1st Shell off for us to load a full day before we were "officially" moving. We packed boxes and such. Next day, full crew, they wrapped all the furniture, wrapped and packed all our artwork, did an amazing job in record time. Great crew. John P. the teams crew chief was on it. These guys were amazing. Turned out we needed one more "Shell", the backyard furniture was big and bulky, 3/4 in, they ran and got another Shell, like it was no big deal. Back in a Zippy, they loaded the last one, and off they went. A month later, boom, they were back, as busy as they were, they made time for us, got an early afternoon delivery, two more guys on the crew, we were unloaded in no time. This is a well oiled machine with Jim in the office making you feel like you matter as a client and the crew doing an amazing job. I would highly recommend these guys to move you and store you. Hello moving fans, I wanted to place a review on this unique way to move and store your items called Zippy Shell. The customer service and staff I came in contact with top to bottom are good. Quick response times, professional, respectful of your property, and a good value. Most of the large items were moved well. However, the measure of a good moving company is how well all your property arrives from where it was to where it needs to be in the same condition. We had an eating bar, maybe a year old (think an extension to an island with a two-level top), and the top was completely separated from the base (poor grip placement). A curio, the base glass was smashed (poor handling). A $2000 painting was left in the garage out of its protective box and wrapper (maybe it was never protected - yikes)? A bed needed to be assembled and the headboard was not attached correctly, we found this out when guests spent the night and told us that any slight movement would send the headboard knocking against the wall. We lost an expensive piece of furniture, the curio is still not repaired, the frame is scratched on the painting, and we still need to wrench the headboard. After such great expectations upfront, the end result was just ok. The wife liked the last company we used - so I get to hear about this for years (big sigh). read more

I've been dreading my move for the past few weeks because I have a sauna (with glass doors) and was worried about it getting damaged. The guys he sent, John, Danny and Eddie were fantastic. Brian and his team did a great job caring for our items and delivering them timely. I had requested a couple of days that weren't available and Brian offered me earlier dates that worked perfectly! We decided to us Zippy's unloading services also, which were quick and easy. The team was very respectable of our new place, our items and even offered a few suggestions on things to do. Lastly I had initially expected the delivery to be a longer distance that would require the unloaders to walk very far and was charged an additional fee for this that I expected. Upon delivery they were able to find a much closer spot to unload and Zippy refunded me the extra amount with no issue. Very satisfied! read more

I'm sad I have to change this review because I truly did love the moving team. However if you are moving out of Vegas do not use this company. Bryan and his team are amazing so if moving within their area by all means hire them but once you are out of Bryan's area the customer service is horrible and they do not care about your stuff. I was told I would get by stuff by this Wednesday and now being told my second container will not get here till Aug 23rd that's over a month after my stuff was picked up. I'm very disappointed in zippy shells and the lack of communication after my stuff left Vegas. Paying over 10,000 to not have my stuff when promised is completely unacceptable. read more

The owner Brian was very responsive to all of my questions by emails, texts and phone calls.. All my answers were answered by email or return phone calls. Three guys who came to actually move our stuff, Nate, Big Red and AJ were very nice and efficient. They called and came earlier than their scheduled time. Nate even removed and reinstalled the bidet for us. The manager called us not only the day before to confirm everything, but also called us the next day to make sure we had a good experience. We hired Jason and his team (Raymond & Jesse) to load our container with furniture and odd-shaped items not in boxes. They showed up on time and assessed everything to make a quick plan. They got to work quickly and wrapped our furniture with paper and shrink wrap. They used every space possible, filling the container end-to-end in about 3 hours. Moving is so much work, so to have this help was a huge relief. Thank you guys for working hard, never complaining (especially navigating steep stairs with a tight landing), being professional, friendly and handling our items with care.
