I have gone to Aqua Aerobics classes a few times in this pool early in the year, there are two instructors, one is really good and the other is really bad. For those of you not familiar with dinosaurs or hands it basically means that my hands are feeling very floppy. Holding a pint of Guinness last night took considerable effort and grip revision. To the uneducated eye some may think that I am overtly expressive in a camp theatrical way with my flailing hands. But enough about my hands, what about the wall? €8 to go each time. €5 one time only membership. Plenty of walls of all different intensity levels for you to practise on (bouldering not rock climbing). They have a free drop in class every Monday for beginners. It's not in the sexiest of locations but the inside is very well done, you can get coffee and parents etc can chill out in the seating area and look on. If you are OK with heights and falling from heights give it a go. If you're not you are more than welcome to watch my hands go dinosaur like as I fall from a height. I think that would be very rewarding for those of you that don't like me.

You can ask staff to show you how to use it. There is basketball-football court upstairs on the 2d floor - you can reserve it for the kid's party or football fun game - ask reception for the info! You can get your chart ( info.desk on the ground floor)- measure yourself (weight, height, etc.) And you can set your goal and go ahead- with the trainer or by yourself! Very disappointed. I'm looking for a place to go climbing with my kids (Who have…read moreclimbing/bouldering experience) and The Wall limits its kids time (anyone under 14) to a few hours a week. The reason is of course safety (There are legitimate safety concerns that the kids and their parents should be well aware of). It is also very much convenience for them. They insist that only their instructors can supervise kids. They conveniently leave the kids times to downtime at their gym. If they want to be seen as a bouldering gym that's keen to introduce people of all ages to the sport, they are falling well short. Really disappointed as they are close and they space looks great.

Aura in Trim is pretty decent for a public leisure centre in that it has lots of facilities…read moreincluding a pool, gym, fitness studio, bowling and a sauna/ steam room. They also offer a few programs such as diet and weight management, fitness classes, swimming lessons etc., and if you become a member, you can get your own training program. The fitness studio is not too big but they have a good number of cardio machines and weights. The price for walk-in is cheaper the earlier you go (around 5 euro before 5pm, but increases to 8.50 euro in the evenings). The pool is also timetabled specifically for free swim so I think you would have to confirm the timings as theres lessons on pretty often. I went a few times around 5pm and 6pm, and I noticed that around 4-5pm is pretty busy with a lot of teenagers, while after 6pm is less busy and mostly adults in the gym. The lockers cost 1 euro by the way, and they sell swim gear and energy bars and drinks. The only thing was that it's not the cleanest gym and not being able to free swim at any time is quite inconvenient, but other than that it serves it's purpose as a fitness centre well, is great for kids as well as adults, and is quite inexpensive compared to private gyms with no contract needed.

I went specifically for the pool and was impressed. The pool was clean, the water kept at a proper temperature for lap swimming, lifeguards attentive to making sure people stay in the right lanes based on ability, and the room is vented appropriately with fresh air. I also liked that the locker and changing room was clean and tidy. I kept my belongings in a locker safely while I swam and then was able to have a hot shower after my training. The one main thing I wish was different is the membership fee. From what was explained to me I have to either pay as I come (6 euro per swim as an adult) or join for the year. I don't want an annual membership at this time, so I have to pay the drop in price. I would join for a month at a time rate if one was available and fair.

For us two 60 yr olds, who were a bit hesitant, Coach T was patient and funny. Turns out we weren't so bad, and had a great time. Com's enthusiasm for Gaelic games and his history lesson were wonderful! Took about three hours, and was well worth the time. Plus it was something a bit different.
