For those of you not familiar with dinosaurs or hands it basically means that my hands are feeling very floppy. Holding a pint of Guinness last night took considerable effort and grip revision. To the uneducated eye some may think that I am overtly expressive in a camp theatrical way with my flailing hands. But enough about my hands, what about the wall? €8 to go each time. €5 one time only membership. Plenty of walls of all different intensity levels for you to practise on (bouldering not rock climbing). They have a free drop in class every Monday for beginners. It's not in the sexiest of locations but the inside is very well done, you can get coffee and parents etc can chill out in the seating area and look on. If you are OK with heights and falling from heights give it a go. If you're not you are more than welcome to watch my hands go dinosaur like as I fall from a height. I think that would be very rewarding for those of you that don't like me.

The changing rooms are brilliant because they are all little individual cubicles; this is particularly good when you have children with you. Another good point for children with this pool is the fact that there is a smaller paddling pool that is very shallow; this means that children have a safer place to swim but also it means that there are no children getting in your way when you're doing lengths in a free swim in the larger pool. I have gone to Aqua Aerobics classes a few times in this pool early in the year, there are two instructors, one is really good and the other is really bad. But sure you can give it ago anyway, any exercise is good exercise right?

Very disappointed. I'm looking for a place to go climbing with my kids (Who have…read moreclimbing/bouldering experience) and The Wall limits its kids time (anyone under 14) to a few hours a week. The reason is of course safety (There are legitimate safety concerns that the kids and their parents should be well aware of). It is also very much convenience for them. They insist that only their instructors can supervise kids. They conveniently leave the kids times to downtime at their gym. If they want to be seen as a bouldering gym that's keen to introduce people of all ages to the sport, they are falling well short. Really disappointed as they are close and they space looks great.

Aura in Trim is pretty decent for a public leisure centre in that it has lots of facilities…read moreincluding a pool, gym, fitness studio, bowling and a sauna/ steam room. They also offer a few programs such as diet and weight management, fitness classes, swimming lessons etc., and if you become a member, you can get your own training program. The fitness studio is not too big but they have a good number of cardio machines and weights. The price for walk-in is cheaper the earlier you go (around 5 euro before 5pm, but increases to 8.50 euro in the evenings). The pool is also timetabled specifically for free swim so I think you would have to confirm the timings as theres lessons on pretty often. I went a few times around 5pm and 6pm, and I noticed that around 4-5pm is pretty busy with a lot of teenagers, while after 6pm is less busy and mostly adults in the gym. The lockers cost 1 euro by the way, and they sell swim gear and energy bars and drinks. The only thing was that it's not the cleanest gym and not being able to free swim at any time is quite inconvenient, but other than that it serves it's purpose as a fitness centre well, is great for kids as well as adults, and is quite inexpensive compared to private gyms with no contract needed.

BAM! 5 STARS!! I've…read morebeen a swimmer on and off since I was about 5 years old (ON for most of my teenage years, OFF when I discovered beer and women, ON again when I took up triathlon to set myself a new challenge), so I have a good idea what makes a good swimming pool, and a fair idea what makes a good gym. Let's start at the start - this is a private members gym; you can't walk in off the street unless you're signed in by a member. You can sign up for some classes by themselves (spin, pilates, etc) as a non-member, but most of the people here are fully paying members. That being said, the membership packages are very flexible - it's basically €230 for an individual for a year of a basic membership, plus either pay-as-you-go, or whatever package you want to put on top for gym/swim/etc. I've been a member since February and I could not be more impressed to be honest. The place is always spotless, the staff are always friendly, the other patrons are always grand (no steroid junkies here!), and the classes are very good; particularly the spin classes which come as part of your full membership. Every facility you could want is here as well: gym, pool, football pitches, tennis and badminton courts, sauna, leisure suite... you name it, it's there! Now onto the pool itself. It's a standard 25 meter pool with a small viewing gallery. The 'adult swim' sessions are the best to go to if you want to go for a proper swim - three lanes will be marked out and most people stick to the slow, medium & fast lanes (it's a pet peeve of mine when they don't!). All in all, a great job in a handy location, and you can customise your own package or pay-as-you-go after the initial membership fee. Only negative is that you have to pay up-front rather than by Direct Debit, but it's not enough of a grievance to deter me from awarding the big 5!
