First, I want to say that my interactions with the front office have been wonderful. Everyone has been professional, helpful, and welcoming. The preschool itself is clean, organized, and extremely well run. The teachers are loving, patient, and knowledgeable. Every time I'm there, they have the cutest little stations set up with fun, creative activities for the kids. You can tell there is so much thought and effort put into what the children are doing and learning each day. Ms. Ellie deserves a special mention. She is one of the most loving and patient administrators I have ever met, and she is also incredibly knowledgeable. She genuinely cares about the children and their success. We visited A LOT of private schools trying to find the right fit for my child. My child is not always the easiest, and finding a school where he would truly be understood, supported, and accepted was extremely important to us. He has absolutely THRIVED at this school. They have been willing to work with him, meet him where he is, and do whatever they can to help him succeed. That means more to our family than I can put into words. The communication is also amazing. The teachers update parents through the app and send pictures, so you actually get to see what your child is doing throughout the day. They also send home activities and homework connected to what the kids worked on that day, which I absolutely love. We have been so happy here that I already cannot wait to enroll my daughter when she is 2.8 years old! I truly don't think I could give this preschool enough positive feedback. Finding a place where you feel comfortable leaving your child is such a big deal, and finding a place where your child is genuinely happy, supported, learning, and thriving is even more special. Board members seem to not be as involved in management decisions or have poor budgeting the way that decision was handled; parents were not informed. When child was injured they send an ouch report notice home, no phone call in terms of communication the school is lacking. Incidents should be reported immediately. Receiving an email hours after pickup reflects poor communication. Recess is chaos with all ages overlapping bullying is an overlooked issue. Principal is warm, and friendly yet overworked and overwhelmed regularly not in office due to health concerns appears to be out of his depth and lacking the experience to properly prepare children to excel at the next academic level. Found him to be lacking in speaking and administration. Not able to make meaningful connections with all students. I recommend the preschool and refer colleagues to tour the school themselves. Have a plan for the next step as eventually you'll need to find another school to continue your children's education. As far as Christian based education there are better options in the area. Teachers there provided us with many other recommendations for local schools. St. Paul's Lutheran, Heritage Oak, St Norbert, OCCA are superior.

While choosing a school FCS was the first school we considered because while shopping I noticed the kind behavior of a little girl to her father while shopping for a costume. She was wearing an FCS uniform, as I asked the father how he liked FCS he said he loved the school and genuinely had no complaints after sharing all of his kids went there. That's honestly a rare thing to hear about any school. Now that my son is going there I can see why. The school has prepared them for life with strong academic skills and a strong set of Christian values. The facilities are above par, super clean and constantly being updated. The classrooms are equipped with Smart Boards and the classroom materials are current. The middle school operates on a "one to one" lap top program. The teachers and staff are caring and get to know each child as an individual. My children have completely different learning styles and personalities. They both love their school and each has been accommodated with their learning styles in the classroom. Lots of activities are offered outside of the classroom. A great after school sports program, dance classes, music lessons, tutoring, are just a few of the things that are offered. With each day and week that passes by, I am very impressed with the results are coming to be with my son's behavior and reactions. While he was in public school, he went through overwhelming emotions that led him to throwing and breaking things when upset. I communicated with the school he was at that my son did well with disciplinary actions by taking away the "fun part of school;" for liability reasons, they were not allowed to keep him from recess. When his outburst happened, they would take him to relax at the nurse's office, or playing a game, or a walk around the school; the problem here is that he seen those as treats to get out of class, so his behavior got worst. But at St Catherine's Academy, they use a system to help build boys to be leaders. They go by a military tradition to help build these boys to becoming future gentlemen! And I am very impressed in the teaching styles they use to challenge them. In the past, I cried with every phone call I received from the school when he had an outburst. The automatic response was to see if I can find out if there was medication that can help him. I refused to see my son go down a path where a public school system quickly rushed into a diagnosis. I now have hope and I now can breathe because I now can see the potential I knew he had. And most importantly, my son sees his own progress, and he sees his own potential. I now have tears of happiness when I hear my son say, "Mama, I told my teacher that I did not like the color pink so I asked nicely if I can have a different color scissors and she said yes! Mama, I didn't scream and cried because I had pink! I did it mama!" I look forward in the years to come to see his full progress and I 1,000% recommend sending your son to the SCA Family!

I'm incredibly proud of him, and I often catch myself admiring qualities in him that remind me I still have things to learn myself. I truly believe so much of that is because of St. Catherine's. To him, it isn't just a school; it's an extension of our family. Knowing he has such a strong support system there gives me confidence that he'll continue to thrive and go far in life. One thing people often misunderstand is the military program. It's not there to reform boys; it's there to teach discipline, structure, sacrifice, accountability, and the value of strong camaraderie. Those are lessons that shape character for a lifetime. SCA has helped mold my brother into someone I genuinely look up to, despite being more than 20 years older than him. You can't put a price on that. He is kind, levelheaded, stoic, devoted, respectful to everyone he meets, and carries himself with a maturity far beyond his years. It is something you pretty much have to experience yourself and describing it in a review is somewhat difficult. The school is cheerful and stimulating and flows with a very positive feeling. The teachers are proactive and there is very open communication. The campus is very well maintained and the atmosphere is a notch or two above ecxellence. I received two emails during the day with updates. When I picked up the little one she expressed her enjoyment and talked the entire way home about her activities and the friends she made. By far, my two favorite things include the enjoyment of my little one and the open and detailed communication with the teachers. The area has a good school district. My husband and I were hesitant to enroll at a private school because we were public education kids ourselves and the public schools locally aren't shabby; however, a couple things about this school stand out that make the investment here completely worth it for us include: 1) The class size can't be beat. The individual attention and adjustment to each child to challenge and support to their needs is possible because of this and we see it in how they are able to engage with our daughter and watch her develop. 2) We really appreciate the ability to customize our engagement at the school. By this, I mean that if we feel there are concerns or ideas about topics to explore or cultural activities or holidays to celebrate, the principal and teachers allow us to come up with ways to see what may be possible to share. So it's not just about volunteering for class trips, but doing hands on activities and presentations in collaboration with the teachers. Last year, I volunteered to do a presentation on the Lunar New Year, for example, with another parent. We love that we have a community here or fellow loving, active and engaged parents. 3) We love that they look at ways to educate to new ways of learning and have tools available that prepare students for the future. Not only do they incorporate technology (like having iPads for each student and a blog program for kindergarteners), but also teach things like civic engagement through campus wide elections for class representatives, and community service projects where the whole family can volunteer. To be balanced, one thing to consider is that while there are advantages to a small class size, it does mean there is limitation to student interactions to a broad swath of students which can serve to keep varying experiences in perspective; after all, the real world is far from this safe bubble. Having said that, overall, we are very happy, and I have to acknowledge that in addition to the aforementioned, the stellar staff and teachers genuinely care and know each of the children here, are accessible, and are loved by my child. The comfort in knowing this is where she is for such a large part of her day truly is priceless.
