a plate of chicken and rice
    Candace T.

I always wanted to try this restaurant but the outside is so dark it looks closed. I decided to stop finally and they are indeed open. The cashier looked like she was sizing me up a little before she finally greeted me and asked what I wanted. After rattling off my order without reviewing the menu she managed a grin. I ordered the jollof, stew fish and egusi. The stew fish was good but the egusi lacked flavor and a lot of the water from the rice was still present. I did go back later in the week and ordered the same thing. This time, the stew fish was horrible! The stew was very thin like ketchup water and the skin on the fish was really soft as if it wasn't cooked enough to crisp up the skin before adding it to the stew. The egusi lacked even more flavor and the jollof was made better however... something plastic must have broken in the preparation process and two pieces were in the rice. I had high hopes for this place but oh well... I tried.

This is the worst peanut butter stew ever. Save yourself the trip your not missing anything at all. This is the full $20 plate of peanut butter stew smh. 1 piece of protein, spoiled rice and badly cooked stew

Large portion of rice and two pieces of fish and chicken covered in a spicy sauce

I received a meal here via the too Good To Go app which helps connect to local businesses to eaters that want to fight food waste. Because of the nature of the app, you don't know exactly what you're going to get but you get it for a discount price. I got a very large portion of some spicy rice and two big pieces of what I later learned were chicken and fish. They were all so very spicy. Lots of bones in the fish. I was a little disappointed that I didn't get any other items of the menu I guess I'll have to come back and try them myself. The ambiance of the restaurant is very bare-bones and a little dirty and the staff was not overly friendly.

I walked to this place from my office down the street to meet there homophobic and colorist staff that called me yellow! After I orderd and paid 19.25$ to receive three very small pieces of beef and when I called to ask why I was met with a rude tone and told I could get more next time I returned!

If you need a place where you can dash in and grab your favorite Nigerian cuisine, this is it. Quick and easy on the go food. Beware of the line. Parking can be limited especially during afternoon rush hour. Food was delicious. Ordered fried rice with veggies and goat meat and plantain and side of Moi moi. Food dispensed behind glass enclosure buffet style. Food tasted fresh same day cooking. Didn't like the moi moi in the microwave and tasted overly spiced. Meat was easy to chew and better than most other places where it is dry and overly fried. But overall nice presentation. The decore needs improvement, better seating and checkout procedure.

    Asun. UNDERCOOKED

I'm only giving one star because you need to give a star. This was the most disappointing and disgusting meal i've ever had to eat. For starters when i arrived, the ladies were extremely disinterested and rude, selecting meat in front of me so they could give me the one with only bones. The rice was INEDIBLE, after i had to remind the lady to give me my rice that i ordered, she gave me day old, rotten rice that smelled foul the minute i opened the bag, the asun was undercooked and hard we only ate it because we were hungry, the buka stew tasted desperately in need of some seasoning and like it could give a horse cardiac arrest sooo much oil. i am extremely disappointed because i drove 30 minutes and didn't check every bag individually... i am absolutely appalled as i spent over 100 dollars on a lot of food for my family. I demand a refund and for this business to be SHUT DOWN. these people are sick and if i get a stomach ache from eating this poison i will be charging them the bill! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

They didn't come help us until we attempted to go upstairs which was closed. The hostess graciously gave us her table. We were handed happy hour menus and as we were ordering drinks we were told the price for shots is not $6 anymore it's $10. We opted for the lemon drop which was ok. We ordered wings, egg-rolls, and a quesadilla. The wings came out first. The hot honey is just ok, not really hot. The egg rolls came out next and they were pretty good. The quesadilla took forever... we assume they probably forgot it. It was poorly put together and did not come with sour cream or pico as advertised. When I went to order another drink I was told happy hour was over at 8. The menu states 9:30p. At that point we were over it. The menu also states they don't split checks and they have politely tipped themselves 20%... they did at least allow the two of us to split. The atmosphere was ok, music was cool mostly R&B... they also have hookah but if you prefer to roll up and smoke, you are welcome to do that right at your table as well. What I think was the owner walked through several times but didn't seem to customer service focused bc he never spoke. One of the employees got pizza from across the street and ate it at one of the tables... looked pretty good. Might be worth trying.

It's a small but quaint spot with a mix of booth and table seating, making it a nice place for a relaxed dinner with friends. As a picky eater visiting for the first time, I kept my order simple with wings and rice. The wings were the highlight of the meal--crispy, flavorful, and well-seasoned. The rice, however, was disappointing. It was dry and lacked seasoning, and I found myself wishing it had at least a little butter and salt to enhance the flavor. The mocktails were delicious and complemented the meal well. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The music was at the perfect volume--easy to enjoy while still being able to carry on a conversation without shouting, which made for a pleasant evening with friends. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcome throughout the meal. One small note: the ladies' restroom was clean but very small and narrow. It had a hook-and-latch style door but no place to hang a purse, which would be a nice addition. Parking on H Street is always a hit or miss, so plan accordingly if you're driving. Ratings: * Food: (3/5) * Atmosphere: (3/5) * Service: (4/5) * Dinner with Friends: (5/5) Overall, Lydia on H is a pleasant neighborhood spot with friendly service, tasty wings, and excellent mocktails. While the rice missed the mark for me, I enjoyed the company, the conversation, and the relaxed atmosphere. I would consider returning to try other menu items.

3/5 Realm Rooftop…read moreLounge is one of those places where the ambiance is doing some very heavy lifting. The views are stunning, the music is on point, and the vibe has all the ingredients for a great night out. Unfortunately, the service and operations left a lot to be desired. We stopped by after dinner for a nightcap, and honestly, the experience got off to a rocky start before we even made it upstairs. One member of our group was denied entry because his denim shorts were cut off, which is fair enough if that's the dress code. He went home, changed, and returned, so crisis averted. Once we got upstairs, however, the confusion continued. We asked both the bar back and a server whether we could seat ourselves in the bar area, and neither person seemed to know the answer. After a brief game of "Who's on First?" , we tracked down the hostess, who informed us that yes, we could sit wherever we wanted. Great! Or so we thought. After taking a seat, we spent several minutes watching our server walk past us repeatedly without acknowledging our existence. At some point, the men in our group decided to do what apparently needed to be done and headed to the bar to order drinks themselves. Now, here's where I have to give credit where it's due: the drinks were excellent. We ordered the Purple Rain, Island Spritz, Casa del Fuego, and a tequila soda water, and every single one delivered. The bartender clearly knows how to make a cocktail. Unfortunately, she also seemed like she'd rather have been literally anywhere else. The drinks were enthusiastically slammed onto the bar with an energy that suggested we'd personally inconvenienced her by ordering them. Despite all of that, the ambiance truly is fantastic. The DJ was spinning an excellent set and created the perfect soundtrack for a summer night in DC. The rooftop views are gorgeous and absolutely worth experiencing at least once. Unfortunately, Mother Nature was operating on "surface of the sun" settings that evening, so spending too much time outside wasn't an option. At the end of the day, Realm has all the makings of a great rooftop destination: beautiful views, strong cocktails, and good music. What it's missing is a smooth operational flow and staff who seem interested in providing hospitality. Would I return? Yes--but I'd give them some time to work out the kinks. The potential is absolutely there. As I always say: I'm not difficult to please. I just have standards.
