Great service great food. 2 of our party of 4 had the Tuesday special, which Included a herb salad, seafood risotto and a strawberry shortcake for $12. Such a deal for awsome food. The other two of us had veal marcala and pork scalippini. The 4 of us were VERY PLEASED. it's hard to find great places like this to eat now a days. A friend and I saw this on yelp and tried it with great results. It's really just a little hole in the wall, but we got great service. I would love to have dinner here, after the great lunch I got there today, which was the ceviche special. It was more like a salad, the ceviche was king crab and salad shrimp in a mild sauce with "pico de gallo" but without the hot peppers, or hot sauce, and some excellent lettuce on top. The waiter suggested garlic bread, which was great with it, as they didn't have any chips. It was pretty great, if a little bland, but I always expect that in Lodi. The place isn't large but it's comfortable and nice and I've got a feeling there's a lot of really good food to be had there. I'm looking forward to trying some more of it soon. read more

Nasty! Raw chicken thigh with sauce splashed over the edge of the plate. I went with a group of ladies and all but one or two ordered the same dish. It was crowded with loud conversation, the floor being bare. The evening special was chicken cacciatore which was ordered by most of our group of 6. The service was slow and inept. I believe our table was the last served and one of the women had called ahead to make a reservation a day before. It was quite a long time to get water though wine was brought in a respectable time for those who ordered it. It took more than an hour to get a glass of water. Salad arrived with an abundance of dressing and wilted. A totally unacceptable amount of time again passed before my plate was plowed down in front of me with sauce sloshed over the plate rim on one side. I'm not surprised by the thigh piece and would have gladly eaten by this time but when I cut into it, there was raw meat, (as in bloody), Another woman at the table returned hers as well without much comment, except she didn't eat dark meat. The waiter seemed put out when I asked him to take it away because I refused to order another entree. The first had taken so long and I have no idea who was cooking there. I also wouldn't wait for another dish to be prepared. The bill came with just $2 off for the botched entree. $10 for a marginal salad and dessert, slow service, sloppy presentation, and no apologies! We were in Lodi wine tasting celebrating my wife's birthday. It got late and was hungry and we used Yelp to help look for a nice restaurant and we chose Zin Bistro. It was easy to locate. We were surprised how small the establishment was but it was busy, which is always a good sign. We walked in and the nicest waitress asked if we had a reservation, which we replied "no we don't". She quickly and professionally asked if we didn't mind sitting at the counter (which only hat two bar stools for two). It was fine with us as long as we didn't have to wait. There was an opening where we can see the chefs cooking the meals (which was great). The waitress and the waiter both took cared of us when they found out it was our first time at the establishment and there for my wife's birthday. They had many varieties of wine from local wineries and beers. Menu had many choices and entree but simple to read. My wife ordered a pasta dish and I ordered a lamb shank dish. They were both great. I would highly recommend this place and we would go back again and try other dishes. read more

Fantastic. True bistro style dining--fresh, tasty and unique. The owners were incredibly friendly and chatted us up the whole time--but this review is about the food. Lamb shanks were delicious. The appetizer special was scallops which were perfectly seared. My wife got the chicken with saffron rice which was so good that i ended up eating half of it. This is a new restaurant. Don't know how long it has been open. I probably drove past it several times because it's not real noticeable. Very cute place, they have a small lunch and dinner menu but everything looked really interesting on it. I went for the Kobe beef burger. This is always a good judge of a restaurant. They did not disappoint. The burger was cooked perfectly for me, medium rare. The bun was wonderful too. I'm guessing maybe a brioche bun. With the burger came salad or fries. I was going to be good and get the salad but opted for the fries. So glad I did. I think they were the best I've had in a long time. Real potatoes and nicely browned. I will definitely go back to this place to try some of their other dishes. read more

We had a lovely dinner at Zin Bistro. They'd only been open a few days. The food was delicious and nicely presented. The decor is fabulous. The walls are hand painted. One wall looks like aged copper sheets riveted to the wall. The restaurant is small and intimate. It's a perfect night out. We will be back. The menu promises to change with the seasons. So had a date night with the wife and decided to try somewhere new. Service was impeccable, food was super yummy and we had a really nice time. The only downside is that we had a large group behind us and we had to kind of scream at each other to talk. Not really great for date night. Here on a Saturday afternoon with friends. Two ordered the chicken ranch sandwich with garlic fries. They said the sandwich was good but the fries were frozen crinkle cut and if there was garlic on them, they couldn't see or taste it. One had the Kobe burger. He said it was really salty and most likely not real Kobe. I had the Asian Chicken Salad with grilled shrimp. The shrimp was good but the crispy noodles were about a half teaspoon of Raman. The rest of the salad was just shredded cabbage with 2 little slices of mandarins. Maybe their dinner service and food is better. read more

Ate at the Zin Bistro last night had the Chef Special, available every Tuesday, Pork Tenderloin with Mashed Potatoes, Haricots Verts and a nice Reduction Sauce all this with a Mixed Green Salad and Dessert for 12 bucks. This is my second visit the Chef does a nice job with the sauces and the food was cooked just right with a little bit of pink in the pork, crisp beans and tasty mashers. I would have given 5 stars but the staff seems a little dysfunctional. It seems that the front of the house manager needs to step it up to support the quality of food coming out of the kitchen. Service wasn't terrible but they seemed preoccupied and some of their wine and beer selection were not available. read more

Had 8 o'clock reservations and were immediately seated. The waiter proceeded to tell us that they were out of most things on the menu. It was so loud we couldn't talk. The waiter was drinking beer. The other waiter was sitting at a table talking to friends. Not a great experience. The food was ok, nothing special. Sorry Zin Bistro. We went to Zin Bistro at the recommendation of a local Lodi artist. I had the blue cheese sirloin. My wife had the lamb shank. Both were served with very tasty mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans. Entrees were in the $18-$20 range, which is a bargain for the quality of these meals. Both were excellent! Menu is very short/limited, but all options looked good. We will be back! read more

While in Lodi, my wife and I decided to give this restaurant a try. What a great find. It's decorated with an artist's vision. Nice wall treatments with colors that make you feel very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. No attitudes, just genuinely nice and knowledgeable about the menu and specials. It is a small space with seating for about 35 people but you are not cramped at all. The food was executed with precision. I had rack of lamb that was cooked perfectly with a tasty reduction sauce that was" lick your plate clean" good. My wife, Joanna had a salmon fillet that was equally delicious. The wine pricing was very reasonable showcasing a number of local winery selections. Wish I lived in Lodi so I could go back more often! They have done a very nice job of creating a great little bistro. We had a wonderful evening. read more

Zin Bistro had been recommended to my girlfriend and I over a year ago. But for some reason, we decided to try it for the first time about 6 weeks ago. We LOVE it. We've been back 4 times since with friends and family. Every meal has been really good. I've personally had the Pork Scallopini (2x), the fish special (2x) - once was the sole and the last time not sure but a cod-like fish, and the lamb shank the first time i went. I love the scallopini but the others dishes were very good also. My girlfriend had the flat iron steak, the sirloin, the sole, and I forgot the others but we love it. Our new favorite place in the Lodi/Stockton/Tracy area. When we wanted a good meal, we would go to Sacto, SF, or somewhere other than Stockton. Now we can drive down the road to Zin Bistro and the cost is reasonable -- $18-22 for the plates we ordered. $7-9 for a glass of wine. We usually have two a piece. :-). My wife and I arrived with high hopes for a good lunch, as we visit Zin Bistro approximately 3-4 times per year. Unfortunately we left extremely disappointed with our food and service. Our lunch started off with my wife ordering a taste of wine to find out if she would like to order the wine by the glass. Our server forgot the request and instead gave my wife a full glass at which she didn't enjoy. My wife ordered the Kobe Burger with cheese well done with a Wedge Salad. Our server forgot to bring out the salad until I reminded her to do so after I was almost finished with my salad. Her burger was cooked medium at which after eating half of it and being disappointed with the taste, I encouraged her to tell our sever to have the chef cook the burger to well done. Minutes later our server brought out the burger well done, however the chef didn't add any new cheese. Instead of adding new cheese, the chef cooked the original cheese to a char at which made the burger inedible for my wife. My wife ended up sending the burger back to which Zin Bistro still charged us half price for a burger she didn't enjoy.....even after I suggested Zin Bistro comp the burger. Our server forgot to fill my wife's water and also forgot to bring me some crushed garlic for my chicken sandwich. While my wifes burger didn't taste good, the wedge salads and my chicken were average in taste at best. The Potato Leek Soup did taste good to me, although my wife thought it was just ok. Our sever was very "scattered" throughout our lunch, which baffled my wife and I as we were the only ones eating in the restaurant at that time. We don't plan on going back to Zin Bistro in the future. read more
