The practice has grown considerably since 1997 and now includes 6 or 8 doctors and several nurse practitioners. They recently relocated to new facilities in the Altair Medical Building (off Africa Rd just beyond the COPC Headquarters and the COPC Medical Building. I have the utmost faith and trust with these doctors and credit Dr Richard will saving my life when he detected colon cancer over 20 years ago when it was still highly treatable. He's not one to order tests unless there's a really good reason and is not one to overly medicate a condition. I've seen a number of the doctors and nurse practitioners in this practice when Dr Richard hasn't been available and all provided excellent care. I would highly recommend Westerville Family Physicians.

The stand out surprise for me was the amazing front desk staff. I've been to a lot of doctors offices in my life an they all seemed to have one thing in common: their front desk staff were rude, short with patients and unhelpful. Let me tell you the staff here are the polar opposite! By far the nicest and most helpful staff I've ever encountered! They always greet you with a smile and seem genuinely happy that you have come in. The doctors here are blessed to have such an amazing staff up front. I can't emphasize enough how much of a difference this makes for their patients! I am glad I found this place and will be coming back here for years to come.

Then they wanted me to go have all kinds of blood work done for high blood pressure? Then wanted me to do a face to face visit on line. And another office visit after that. So basically they gave me medicine that actually worked and brought my blood pressure down considerably. I bought the cuff. Took the medicine. Was feeling great! Then I had to beg for refills every month. It took 5 days without this medicine to get a refill. Until the last month, They just decided I was not bringing in enough money from their stupid over charged over used office visits. They just never filled it... They were rude on the phone. If they saw my number on id caller they just would not answer. Funny they would answer from my work phone. The Doogie Howser doctor acted like I was dying and treated me like an alien. I never did see a real doctor. Do not go to this family practice if your healthy. It's all about the money for them.

So I went back and forth between the scheduling unit and the office and was informed that I am banned/ blocked from seeing any provided in the practice. I talk to the lady that stated she was the manger to someone else and asked why am I banned/ blocked from your practice? She states I know nothing about that and will be checking with the manager to get more information! The issue I have is the lady and I won't mention her name seems to not be forthcoming with the facts! Seems like it's personal and I would like to know why!!! However, before I saw the doctor I got stuck with a medical student which made the whole visit really slow-as a medical student was abnormally thorough which took a long time. The medical student was super nice The doctor came in shortly after we discussed my displeasure with OSU central scheduling as there should've been no reason that I had to come in as my primary had asked me to just call in and ask for the script because I had an appointment for the same condition about four or five days prior and we were just trying to avoid antibiotics but felt they might be necessary and if they were to CALL in . Well, my body didn't cooperate and I needed antibiotics however central scheduling insisted that I pay a co-pay and see a completely different doctor which was so stupid. It is the only reason why I am a star from this review was the offices reliance on this ridiculous policy of central scheduling. She makes me feel like I am her only patient. She truly, truly cares about her patients. She thinks outside the box and is very creative when it comes to figuring out a difficult diagnosis. I missed the call from my awesomely concerned family doctor who had already reviewed my ER records despite the fact that it was a holiday and she was supposed to be relaxing. She wanted to have me come in for a follow-up exam. Since I didn't recognize the number and my voicemail box was jammed full, I didn't know I was supposed to go in. But on Thanksgiving, in the evening, when I relapsed into that toxic pain and shaking, my family called Dr. Rentel. She was there, and she had advice. She got me through the night and saw me first thing Monday. This is the most compassionate doctor. I love her to pieces. She has her patients' best interest in mind. She really cares about your health. And she's funny and easy to talk to. I have high praise for Dr. Rentel. If you're looking for a new family doctor, definitely try to get in with her. It will be tough. Since she's so amazing, she's always booked full. But if you happen to call the office when they're taking new patients, you musn't undervalue the opportunity. Jump on it! They sent me away with anxiety meds. Needless to say, I didn't take them and went to see Dr. Rentel the following Monday. By chance, I was assigned to her when I was a student at OSU in the student health department. She asked me if I had allergies, to which I replied NO. She took a good look at me and said, "Yes you do." She gave me oral steroids and within 24 hours my breathing issues were totally resolved. Turns out, I have a severe grass pollen allergy that developed as an adult and procudes asthma. I'm now taking allergy shots to help build a tolerance to my allergies and symptoms.
