The biggest take away from tonights meal is the food is really bland, no seasoning, & no flavor. So disappointing. Last time we were here the place was good but that was over two years ago. The fusion was exciting and we were very hopeful but when the burgers have no flavor and don't get eaten, the server doesn't get the sides right and we have to walk to the hostess after 30 minutes of being done eating it's just not a good time. I had the fish burrito grilled, maybe blacked would have tasted better. The burrito was white inside and out, barely any pico de gallo, no cilantro flavor at all no flavorful sauce/ salsa at all! Disgraceful. I'm glad I asked for chipotle and habaneros. Two teens who eat like vacuums got the zim zari burgers one of them took two bites and said it was disgusting and the server should have asked if she wanted something else. The other kid said it's basic and had no flavor but she was so hungry. My son got the cheese burger tacos and he said the sauce was overwhelming and it was alright. Husband got volcano shrimp tacos which was basically iceberg lettuce and battered frozen Walmart tasting shrimp and two small slivers ( basically half slice ) of avocado. He took off a hand full of the lettuce. Cus he didn't order a salad. We got the chicken buffalo egg roll app... it was ok. Hibiscus Margarita was really good mule was delicious could have saved the night if the server came back we would have ordered a second. Over all I won't be back. We've loved the recipes of these restaurant owners since they started at Chicos 20 years ago. The filet tacos are my favorite but all the food selections are fresh and delicious. The fried chicken sandwich with jalapeños packs a flavorful punch. The chicken is perfectly fried and has a very light batter that has a perfect crunch. The food is always great when we come here as well as the service. The server Abby made the experience extremely enjoyable. The COVID precautions taken here definitely make you feel on the safer side when eating out. If you are looking for more authentic types of Mexican or Asian cuisine, this is not the place. However, if you want an Americanized spin on that food, served in a cool ambience by an attentive staff, this restaurant might indeed be the place you are seeking. Zim Zari is located in a small shopping plaza and while you might walk by the exterior without giving it a second notice, however, that would be your loss. The menu features a lot of fun items. While they might not be authentic by any means, at least I was intrigued to try these very Americanized versions of ethnic cuisines. Their tacos were interesting and good. Came w the best fries I've had in a long time (you get a choice of side), crispy and well flavored. Great and friendly service as well. Cant wait to go back and try other items. Zim Zari hit it out of the park during my visit on a Sunday afternoon. Starting from seating, to service, to drinks and meal, to dessert, through to saying bye was a delight at Zim Zari. Despite the hopping crowd for Sunday lunch, the service staff were prompt to tend to my needs and courteous by providing suggestions and listening attentively to my order. She (Kirsten) made sure to stop by just the right number of times to check on me and my lunch party ensuring our needs were met and when we were ready to move on to the next course. My order of Margarita Flight (3 flight sized margarita) came out expediently. I ordered Prickly Pear (tequila based pear agave drink) was the sweetest of the three The lime juice added a slight tart contrast, nice. The second was Strawberry Pineapple (tequila based strawberry and pineapple triple sec) was boozy smooth lightly sweet beverage that went down fast, really nice. My third in the flight was Mango Fuego (mango tequila with habanero agave) a spice bite tropical libation, very beachy. This was a great flight combination. My Luau Pork Burrito came with Roasted pork + Black Beans + Corn + Rice + Pico De Gallo + Yuca + Queso. I chose their seasonal bacon ranch Pearl couscous and a side of mango salsa. The burrito has the perfect balance of flavorful juicy pulled pork and the rest of stuffing. The wrap was moist without tearing, the seasonal couscous is to die for with its slightly salty and tasty umami finish of the couscous bites. The mango salsa added a tropical contrast. This was a perfect burrito dish I've had in a long time. Thank You Zim Zari for making my visit such enjoyable and memorable one. So good, as usual! We have eaten at Zim's for years...lately, we are loving the wider variety of the Blackboard Specials! It's like the ZZ bosses are finding their way back to the fusion roots they started with more than a decade ago! Tonight I had the Pad Thai egg rolls from the new specials board, while my son had the traditional Zim Zari Wrap! I do miss the chimichurri chicken quesadilla- but you can still get it made to perfection, if you ask nicely! We both ordered the blackboard specials; My husband ordered the Wagyu Smashburger tacos and I had the Hoisin Duck tacos. Both were delicious and so filling, we had to take to-go boxes home. When Cassandra heard it was our first visit, she spent time talking with us, thoroughly explaining the menu options and different ways to mix and match tacos, which we appreciated. Why 5 stars? Because this was worth the 30 minute drive. --- --- --- I don't know how long I've had Zim Zari bookmarked, but it's been years. The problem is that I don't find myself in Trinity often. And when I say often, I mean that I don't know if I have literally ever once gotten out of the car within Trinity city limits. But the wife and I actually wanted to run an errand in the area, so we opted to stop in. We looked ahead of time on Facebook to see the rules are that masks must be worn when walking through the restaurant, but can be off at the table. This is no knock against Zim Zari - I know they're just following protocol, but the only word I can use to describe that rule is: hilarious. It's a sensitive subject these days, so thus concludes my commentary on mask ordinances for the day. We ended up grabbing a table outside, so the mask rule was moot, anyway. They brought us chips and salsa once we were seated and we asked for queso, as well. The queso was just kind of okay. The salsa was basic, but addicting. Everything else we had was a huge hit. I ordered two mongolian beef tacos plus one volcano shrimp taco. The mongolian beef tacos were perfect - I could eat those every week. The shrimp taco was solid. My only complaint here is that I wish we could just order one of each taco, because I had several that I wanted to try. I'm sure it comes down to a food prep issue, but it would definitely be ideal on the consumer side if you weren't locked into ordering two of the same type. For the side, the server asked if I wanted rice and beans or bacon couscous. I asked my wife if she would order rice and beans with her entree so that we could have both and she obliged. I'm so glad we did that because the rice and beans was pretty unremarkable, but the bacon couscous was amazing! I've never quite had anything like it - I would definitely order that for any future trip to Zim Zari! The wife ordered fajitas, which were really great. She ordered chicken instead of steak because.... well, I don't really know why. But they were delicious! I can't say I'll be back often due to the proximity, but I was very happy with our decision to come here. We will definitely be back if we do happen to find ourselves in Trinity again! read more

Noodles are a little to thick for my liking but it's so delicious I went back anyway. My serving was much smaller than the last time and my food wasn't very warm. I still ate every bit of it. I fought myself not to order another. The problem I had is when the second shift came in the he music went to RAP! there's not one person there that wants to listen to every single rap song in that restaurant. Was in the area and decided to stop in for a quick dinner. Hadn't been here in a while and was blown away by the food and service, so thar will now change. Casey, the host, got us waters and menus while we waited and made us feel like friends right away. Abby, the bartender, but our server for the evening was PHENOMENAL. She answered our million questions, gave wonderful suggestions, and didn't miss a beat, all while having a full bar! To top it off Bill, the manager, swung by at the end of the night and personally invited us back in. He brought us a sample of the guac and gave us suggestions for next time. Normally my hubby and I don't travel out to eat in Trinity. Yet we were out in LOL area to visit a special friend. She told us about Zim Zari. Sooo, since we are such foodies, I said, "Why not"?! From LOL area it was 18 mins further away. Well, it was worth the extra drive. Zim Zari is located in a strip center near the Trinity hospital which is located in a fairly new developed area. I don't think you'll need to worry about ending up in the hospital after eating here! Lol. The food is fresh and very tasty. I look forward to getting to the dessert time! Allison was our friendly and attentive server. Management staff also paid a visit to our table. Very accommodating to anything we might need. Started off with the Coconut Cherry Limeade, virgin style. Oh my goodness!! Manager tells us a bartender from a sister restaurant came up with the alcoholic version. Check out the ingredients listed on the chalkboard photo. Well the virgin drink was delicious. You can taste each of the coconut, cherry and limeade separately and together are fantastic. The decision was to share our dishes so we can get a better idea of ZZ offerings. We got the Surf and Turf tacos, and the Mongolian grilled chicken wok'd bowl. (See pics) Sorry, I took the pics after I split the orders, yet before the first bite. Surf and turf had steak and shrimp with French onions. I add some hot sauce to make them have a nice kick. The Mongolian bowl had udon noodles with thin sliced veggies. Wished the carrots were thicker and not shredded. Yet the dish had a nice flavored sauce and nice taste. Now for dessert. Menu seems to feature churros, and THEN churros...oh wait, brownies too. YES, GF brownie!! Did I spy Key Lime churro? All I could imagine was a long churro with Key Lime pie in the center or created into the churro batter. I could hardly wait to see it. Then Allison brought out both desserts with extra sharing plates and forks. The brownie presentation was very good and the brownie was dense and oh, so good! As for the Key Lime churro, it wasn't as I imagined it would be. There are churro circles scattered around a bowl that has the key lime flavored cream cheese base with a key lime sauce, and broken up vanilla Oreo cookies. Although I didn't get what I had imagined, the dessert was still very good, but not 4-5 stars quality. As we prepare to take the leftover churro dessert home to our son, the manager comes over to thank us for coming in. We probably was informed by Allison that it was our first time there. He presented us with a FREE APPETIZER certificate for the next time we come in. To summarize my visit to Zim Zari, I like the menu choices and variety of their California coastal menu items. Next time I'll try their fajitas. I loved the virgin drink we had (2/$9), with gin and vodka one drink is $10. Entrees are tasty and filling or just enough to leave room for dessert. I like my GF brownie over my half-disappointed key lime churros. I just burst my own bubble by not asking about how the dessert would be prepared. Yet I'd order it again occasionally. Very good service and food. I met two friends to celebrate a birthday, and Brooke was attentive and friendly. We could not ask for a better waitress! She was great. I like Taco Tuesdays for the variety of tacos offered at inexpensive prices. Two of us had the two $2 chicken tacos. They were delicious and filling. One friend had the nachos, and they were delicious too. I have two complaints about the restaurant, and I don't know if they can be remedied. It is very loud in the restaurant, and a normal conversation is not possible. I feel like I have to yell to be heard. The music, which is also loud, doesn't help the noise level. The tables are also close together, and it feels like I'm right on top of the tables around us. We were in the back room, by the bar, and this might not be a good location. Outside or closer to the door might be quieter and more intimate. read more

My first time in this restaurant and since I live in NY I am glad to see they have a location there. The vibe was great. The food was really delicious and fresh. We got a couple of flights of the margaritas in various flavors and there wasn't a bad one in the bunch. All delicious. My friend got tacos which he loved as well. Most impressive was how awesome the staff was. The manager heard it was our first time there and came out to say hello and personally check on us, which really was great and much appreciated. Zim Zari's was amazing! We had a celebration with 50 guests. After looking around we found Zim Zari, reviews and others recommended them highly. The celebration was last minute, so I reached out to the catering team. They were amazing to work with, asked questions and allowed me the opportunity to use their website for our order, or after conversation complete it through email. This was perfect, they gave us a quote that met our needs and allowed us the opportunity to adjust what we saw fit. Anglea was great to work with through out the set up of our order. The delivery went smoothly and they were kind enough to assist on how in making it presentable and ensuring we had everything. The food was the overall winner! They crushed it, everyone loved it, the Avo/ Buffalo rolls were a huge hit! Everything was delicious. The in house made corn tortillas were magnificent, queso was creamy with just enough spice, and it made the celebration that much more special that we did not have to be concerned about the food.
