My 16 year-old APA rescue pup and I just had an incredible session with Alex a couple weeks ago. My old girl just can't move around like she used to but he made it work and her final photos are phenomenal! Annie gets worn out quickly so we use a wagon to help her get around and enjoy the fresh air. He was so accommodating with getting a great shot of her in her set of wheels and had some wonderful ideas. Alex was so kind and friendly was even able to get Annie to "run" for his classic running pupper shots. Even though she wasn't too interested, he had a stash of treats on-hand so if your pup is food-motivated I can definitely see that being a great asset! He told me the turn-around time for the pics would be about a week but I was pleasantly surprised to see them in my email about 2 days later and my final edited photos another 24 hours after I made my selection. Alex managed to capture Annie's inner puppy and sweet old lady soul in his photos and I'm so glad that in only a 30-minute session he could grasp her personality so well. My girl is definitely "up there" in her old age and I can't explain how pleased I am with Zilker Bark and that I now have some beautiful and high quality photos of my sweet Annie! read more

I've been a long time lurker on Alex's Instagram and decided to hit him up on a whim. It's been a big year for my (now) husband and I, so I thought it would be a good idea to commemorate with a family photo shoot. Just FYI, our family is 3 cats, 2 humans, and 1 pup. So I asked Alex to possibly to do this at our house, since kitties aren't easiest to travel with. He agreed, and we proceeded to make payments/ fix up dates. And on the day of, Alex, along with some stellar talent and studio lights, was at our door step, ready for action. He was super nice, and explained well what he was planning on doing. He was also open to suggestions from us. Mind you, it was a MAD photo shoot. Handling four animals, and getting them to sit in one place is no joke. Alex was up for a challenge, and worked hard to get a photo for us. And we did get it :D It's not the perfect, everyone perfectly posed, la dee laa, photo, but we didn't want it to be that either. It is perfect, for us, and so real to our daily lives. Please, just hire him. Really. There are zero regrets. Period. Edit: Photos were edited and delivered within 8-10 working days even though we hadn't settled on a time line or set a date. Woo! read more

Recently, I had a photo session with Alex for me and my boyfriend's dogs. My dog Gus is a pretty high strung puppy and was only 6 months old at the time. Jack, my boyfriend's dog is much tamer at 3 years old but doesn't do the whole public park thing due to territorial issues. Regardless, Alex was the perfect host for these guys and had plenty of small treats to help them focus on him and not be too concerned about their surroundings. He has such an impressive method of getting their attention by running alongside them, playing with them and in the meantime getting picture-perfect photos. He also asks for involvement from the owners, which I loved. It lets you be a part of such a fun experience and it helped my dogs respond better, as I was more familiar to them than he was. The experience of that afternoon shoot was almost better than the pictures themselves. Honestly. But, they are such a priceless gift too! I can't say enough kind words about Alex and all that he has grown Zilker Bark to be. I hope people continue to have these photos done and that all of you get to have the same kind of memorable afternoon. Thanks again, Alex and good luck in Denver! read more

Alex is simply incredible! I signed up for one of his mini private sessions last Saturday. I have seen him a few times around Zilker Park (and follow/stalk his instagram) and I knew that his work was the best of the best. He has SO much patience with the pups. He tries many different tactics until he finds what works best for them. Little did I know that when I signed up for this session that I was also planning my own surprise engagement! My boyfriend/fiancé had been working with Alex for a week to plan the perfect proposal. After Alex had finished the individual pictures of the pups he asked if we wanted a family picture. I, of course, jumped on this opportunity. I am typically the one behind the camera so I wasn't about to pass up an opportunity to have a non-cell phone picture of us :) Alex positioned us, took some pictures of the four of us, and then asked John to kneel with one of the pups. And he captured every. single. emotion. We can not thank him enough. The pictures are simply breathtaking. We can not wait to work with Alex again!! read more

Having been a longtime follower of Zilker Bark, I thought I knew the quality of service I would get when I finally booked my own session. My experience exceeded my expectations by far. I live in Austin, but my dog Koda lives in Dallas with my family. Alex delayed his personal plans to arrange a session with Koda since there was only one weekend where my mother could bring him down, which was so nice. During our session, Alex was great working with Koda, maintaining his attention even though he's deaf, and getting so many images that perfectly captured his personality. He showed us his pictures throughout the shoot to make sure we were satisfied with them. He sent proofs on the same day and the final images two days later, which was way quicker than I anticipated. I teared up when I saw them! And to top if off, Koda will get his 15 minutes of fame on the Zilker Bark Instagram page. All in all, a wonderful experience. read more

I had my session in Omaha, NE while Alex was in town for a few days. The booking process was very easy and Alex returned my confirmation of my booking very quickly! The day of the scheduled photo shoot, it was raining. I received an email asking to call him to figure out next steps due to the weather. We were able to quickly reschedule for the next day! Alex definitely is able to bond with dogs pretty easily and my dog felt very comfortable around him (especially with the treats he had to help get my dog's attention for great photos!). The proofs were sent back within 2 days and I had 30 days to decide which 5 I wanted to pick. Alex responded within 1 day with the fully edited photos of my favorite photos of the session. I would definitely recommend Alex to take your dog's photo!! His gallery on social media shows just how great the photos will turn out and his promptness in responding to any questions was great!! read more

I HIGHLY recommend Zilker Bark for any photography needs with your furbabies! My husband and I did a family shoot with our two pups and the pictures could not have come out better! When we arrived at the location, Alex walked right over to us as if we knew exactly who we were and he quickly walked us through his plan for our shoot. He will go to almost any length to get the perfect picture. I was so grateful for the tools he used to get our pups attention. He was extremely patient with my dogs who were a bit distracted and not the most cooperative at all times! When the shoot was over he said we would get out pictures back in 2 weeks, but it was actually 9 days from our shoot which included Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We were so excited to get them a little earlier than he quoted. Overall, it was a FANTASTIC experience! What are you waiting for?! Sign up with him now!! read more

I highly recommend booking a session with Alex. My six year old golden retriever was diagnosed with cancer and given a very short time to live. We booked Alex to come on her very last day with us. It was a celebration of her life and a thank you to her. Alex ordered our dog pizza and placed her gently on our bed and couch while we loved on her and told her how lucky we were to have spent the time we did together. While we thanked her for the happiness she brought us Alex took photos and listened to us tell our favorite cookie stories. It felt like he was apart of the family. There were times when we forgot he was even photographing us. Not only is Alex just a genuinely good human being, he is also a fantastic photographer. Every single picture he took was beautiful. We have purchased almost every one he took that day. I will remember that day forever thanks to Alex. read more

Our 4-month old Vizsla Greta had a session with Alex, and it was beyond amazing. Alex is SO GOOD with the pups. It was so fun watching him keep our incredibly energetic dog engaged and puppy flopping around. We were a little nervous with Greta being off leash during the session - and Alex did a great job with accommodating us to make us feel comfortable. After seeing how great he was with Greta and keeping her attention, we were able to take her off leash and get some INCREDIBLE photos. Right before the session there was some rain/difficult weather, and he was super flexible working with us to get the session scheduled at the best time to fit our schedule. We're beyond pleased with the photos of Greta - and our house will probably now be a gallery of Zilker Bark photos because I don't know how to pick just one to frame. read more

I can't say enough amazing things about Alex and Zilker Bark! He photographed my fiancé and I, along with our 2 dogs. He was wonderful with them, even when my puppy didn't want to cooperate. He was so sweet to my girls and was very energetic to ensure he was getting the best shots for us. We have 2 black dogs, which are notoriously hard to photograph, but he made sure their features were defined and could really show how beautiful they are. We did a mix of just dog and family photos and I am beyond thrilled with the turn out! So glad we decided to go with him versus traditional engagement pictures, because he was really able to capture my family in the best way! I even made a mistake with ordering final prints, which Alex resolved in minutes. Could not more highly recommend! read more

I'll keep it short and sweet. Alex of Zilker Bark takes wonderful photos of your furry friend and is the most reasonably priced pet photographer in Austin. His work his brilliant, and his massive social media following is very well deserved. I booked a session for my 13 week old puppy about a month in advance, and was thrilled that I was able to get an appointment to document her puppy stage. Though I've never had professional pet photography done before, it's clear that Alex has a gift beyond just his skill with the camera. His love for dogs shines through in both his work and his interaction with an animal that he's just met. If you've been debating back and forth, book it. It's worth every penny. read more

Loved my experience with Zilker Bark. Alex was communicative and easy to work with regarding scheduling our photo shoot; and was incredibly friendly and easy going in person. I have a very active and fast Boston Terrier and requested that he get some good "action shots" since that is something I have never been able to get on my own. He was very good interacting with her and spent a lot of time making sure he got the right shot. He was down on his stomach getting pictures of her running at him from her level and I could not be happier with the end results! He was able to capture Izzy's true spirit and I am thankful for that! He also got the pictures back to me quickly which I appreciated! read more

What a beautiful experience! Alex was incredibly professional and accommodating when he met my timid pup, Mia. She is not always a fan of strangers, especially tall men, but he made sure to approach her slowly, got down low to the ground to pet her, and came prepared with treats and soft-spoken words. He is truly someone who understands dogs of all personalities and does a fantastic job getting them to have the best experience possible when photographing. The quality of the photos are gorgeous, meeting him at the location he suggested was a breeze, and all communication with Alex about my order was seamless from start to finish. I will 100% be coming back to him for more photos of my pup! read more

From beginning to end this was a fantastic photography experience. I purchased my session for 50% for the month of August. I live in Dallas and had some car issues and ended up needing to reschedule and Alex was happy to do it even though the deal was for sessions schedule for August. Since I had to road trip to Austin for it, Alex was super helpful rescheduling a few times so that we ended up with a session time that worked for all of us. And of course the photo shoot expirence and photos themselves were exceptional. He even got the final images back to me within two days! Incredible experience and I can't give him any higher of a recommendation. read more

We just had our pictures with Alex earlier this September. Our girl Tess is getting to be old so we wanted to have the opportunity to take pictures with her. I just received the final edited images and we could not be more happy with how they turned out! Alex did a great job communicating before and after the shoot, along with a timely turn around getting the proofs and final edits. While his speciality is dogs we wanted to have the 3 kids in a few pictures with Tess and they turned out amazing. I highly recommend getting professional photos done with Alex for yourself and your pup. They are photos you will cherish forever! read more

Our adult kids gave my husband and I a photo shoot from Zilker Bark for our two long-haired "dachshund-ish" rescues for Christmas and it was the best gift ever! Alex met us on a gray overcast day and took 86 amazing shots of our two sweet pups and got the most amazing images! He spent time endearing himself to them (with treats and a soothing voice) and in no time at all they were running after him and giving him smiles. Within 25 minutes, we were done and in less than a week, I got my proofs. They were amazing!!! The hardest part of the whole experience was choosing the final shots! I highly recommend Alex and Zilker Bark. read more

Alex and his team are pure photographic magic, and all around good people! For six years, they've captured the essence of our growing family and our furry best friend. Every year, we eagerly anticipate their annual photoshoot, knowing it'll be an unforgettable experience. Our pup always shines, and their talent for capturing her unique personality is simply astounding. Alex and his team aren't just photographers, they're artists who turn everyday moments into extraordinary memories. If you're searching for a photography team that's as talented as they are delightful, look no further. They're an absolute gem of Austin! read more

There is a reason Alex has a waiting list....because he's the BEST! It's worth the wait, I promise (and we really didn't have to wait that long at all)! He is amazing with the puppers and you can immediately tell how genuine his love for animals is. I was worried Daisy, our golden retriever, was going to run wild off leash at a new park but she never took her eyes off him. He has the touch! We got our photos back SO quickly and it was so hard to decide on which ones we purchased. Every single one was AWESOME! We're definitely booking again so we can get some good water shots. Thank you, Alex!! read more

I cannot say enough about how phenomenal Alex was to work with and I can see why he has a waiting list. His communication before, during and after the shoot was great. He took the time to ask questions about my dog to get to know her a little bit before the shoot, which I think really helped to capture her personality! During the shoot, he was like a dog (and treat) whisperer to a dog that sometimes doesn't listen at all. The photos are great quality and he had extremely quick turnaround time! I would definitely recommend Zilker Bark to anyone wanting great pictures of their pooch. read more
