I have an occasional (and pricey) habit of going off on a trip to a new place and then ordering something from there after I return. It would have been easier to buy the item then and there, but sometimes I need to think on it for awhile.
My recent Nashville example was a book that I found at the Frist Art Museum, that had very little to do with the Music City. "Ancestor Bulletin 1-39" is a short-form, mail-order artist's book and research project by multidisciplinary artist Jana Harper. The publication explores themes of water, island, family, history, and the institution, and documents Harper's genealogical and creative work regarding the Mackinac (Island) Band of Chippewa and Ottawa Indians.
It's a really interesting book of which I was able to order it remotely from ZieherSmith. This place is a contemporary art gallery located in Nashville's Edgehill neighborhood that features a rotating selection of exhibitions from both established and emerging artists. Originally founded in New York City in 2003, it relocated permanently to Nashville in 2019 and was named "Best New Gallery" by the Nashville Scene. Service and delivery was friendly and prompt. read more
