It is slightly more expensive than WeWork for a space, but here are the benefits: 1) A creative community- The people who make up WELD are some of the most creative people in Nashville. You have a famous podcaster, a personality test tech company, a photographer, and so many more people creating beauty out of ashes. It's an inspiring place to be and you can bounce ideas off of these smart minds. 2) Free studio- There's a giant white room that you can use for free if you're a member for photo shoots and/or video shoots. WeWork doesn't offer that! 3) The space- It's beautiful and in an up and coming part of town. They converted shipping containers into office space. 4) Free coffee- It's from CREMA and it's good. Even as WeWork moves into Nashville, WELD is the place to be if you're a creative and need a space to work.

There's a community "kitchen" complete with fridge, microwave, sink, etc. Weld offers an open environment for group work as well as individual spaces. My office used the meeting room for the day to brainstorm and develop a new software plan. Weld was a perfect spot to escape the cubicle and truly inspired us to think outside the box. This review would absolutely have been 5/5 stars had they not recommended the Flower Fairy for florals. The Flower Fairy was the most unprofessional person I have ever worked with. I should have done the research on my own instead of taking the planners word on it after seeing one example of her work and that is on me, but I would have never expected the outcome to be what it was. I specifically asked that the only flowers at the wedding be sunflowers. I gave her all the freedom on greenery, but as far as flowers... ONLY SUNFLOWERS. Seems like a reasonable request since it was my wedding, but I guess not. She used strawflowers for the boutonnières and the cake. I am pretty chill. This is something that could have been addressed at a later time and we could have came to a solution. Instead... she approached me at my wedding and tried to defend her decision making process. I was SHOCKED! She said that she chose to do strawflowers for the boutonnières because she felt like sunflowers would be too heavy. I explained that we had bought special pocket inserts for that exact reason. It was just so unprofessional for her to approach me during my wedding. I never got an explanation as to why there wasn't even one sunflower on the cake. The only thing that was ever done to make any attempt to make the situation right was a $300 refund (which is a joke considering the amount of money we spent on florals), but there will never be anyway to go back and fix it. My wedding pictures will always look like the groomsmen were wearing cheap weeds on their suits and the cake... oh the cake. It was just so bad. If she had any type of professional place this review would be there, but she doesn't and I wouldn't anyone to have the experience that I did.

I shared a twin room, which had one desk and a lamp whose dusty lampshade kept falling off. :) But apart from that, I had no issues. The bathrooms do feature soap and shampoo, but they are fairly basic. Now, let me tell you about the food. The chefs at the SB Center should be praised unto the high heavens -- they cook delicious food, from teriyaki chicken to baked salmon. But their crowning achievement is their desserts. Oh, my lord. Artfully done strawberry shortcake, coconut cake, all manner of cookies -- so good I wouldn't be surprised if they had been trained at the CIA. The folks at the front desk are very nice and the conference rooms are spacious, albeit chilly (bring a sweater). Just a short walk away is a CVS, Starbucks, and other eateries such as Panera, a hot-chicken place, and tacos. I would be happy to stay at Scarritt Bennett again.

Everyone should get out there and try this unique art form, whether you feel like you're a creative or not! A friend and I booked small rug classes for a Sunday evening, and arrived a few minutes early to find we were sharing the space with just two other pairs. Casey (part-owner and tufting extraordinaire) led us through the entire tufting process, from design selection to mastering the tufting gun and cutting out and shaving the finished rug. I went with a tomato pattern, and had so much fun picking out what colors I wanted to use from their massive yarn wall. The actual tufting is pretty intuitive once you get the hang of it ... it's just finding the right pressure to make the power tool do what you want them to do. This could absolutely be a fun solo activity, but I do recommend going with a partner or a friend for your first visit. It's fun to cheer each other on and watch how each other's projects are coming to life. I've hung my creation on the wall in my kitchen, and cannot wait to come back again soon and do an even larger pattern next time. I also might want to buy my own tufting gear?
