The reason I'm marking two stars off... 1) They tend to be on the higher end of what should be thrift store prices. 2) They are not accepting donations right now. One other place I usually go is also not accepting donations (as of January 3, 2025), but JD's has done this more than any other thrift store here and it's discouraging. In the December 27-28, 2024 edition of the Hobbs News-Sun newspaper, they quoted presumed owner Cissy Diaz, "We have our kitchen, the food pantry, the [former Fellowship of Believers] church is now a thrift store, we have a ministry home," Diaz said. "So your time, your effort, money, canned goods any of that. Non-profits you never know, but if you want to be hands on, come and join us." But they weren't accepting donations less than a week later. I don't get it. When they do accept items, the sign around the back says Donation Drop-offs are Monday, Thursday & Friday 10AM-4PM. That's where you'll drop them off. Friendly folks inside every time I show up.

I popped into Heart's Desire Thrift Store last Friday, December 6, 2024…read more There were a few spaces for parking available on the side of the building. Heart's Desire is Christ-centered recovery center for individuals in need. Their website: https://www.heartsdesireinc.org While I'm an advocate for this program and those like it, this review is for the thrift store. The folks working that day were seemingly busy as I was never greeted or spoken to. Basically all they sold was clothes. If other items existed, I surely did not seem them or how to get to them. Their selection mainly catered to women. And everything was sorted by color which was a bit aggravating. There were children's clothes too. Some shoes. I didn't browse the men's section at all if there was one. Most items were in good condition. Priced reasonably.

Sizes range from newborns up to youth size 8, however, they sometimes go s bit higher and will be going up to size 10-12 for the next drop. Speaking of, they will have new looks coming out in a couple weeks from 1/6/2023. Today they had 50% off on Christmas apparel & December selections. There is a section for newborns & infants to the far back left. For dance moms & dads, they have a considerably large selection of dance shoes & leotards available. I'm a fan!

Cotton Castle delivers some of the most posh clothing in this small town…read more The store caters primarily women. Albeit younger women. I didn't realize this before I went in school shopping with my two young daughters. They thought it was a cute store, though. They sell blouses, dresses, skirts, dress pants, and just about everything else garment-wise in between... Also in stock is jewelry, purses, shoes, hats, and other accessories. They offer more affordable fashion jewelry, but I also saw a young man purchasing some of their more higher end fine jewelry which was tastefully displayed in a well-lit area. There is abundant, free parking in the North Vista Plaza near Music World and Miller Waldrop Furniture. Their Facebook page seems dead. They are very active on Instagram which is way more up my alley for pics: @shopcottoncastle. Check 'em out!

It's not like there are a ton of shopping choices in Hobbs, America…read more Kountry Korral Boutique was around when I lived in this Southeastern New Mexico town many years ago, and it's still surviving the ups and downs of the oil and gas economy that Hobbs depends on as well as COVID-19. I miss the Tea Room that once was next door, but now it is a different cafe... Outlaw Grill or something. My uncle really enjoyed his ginormous, overpriced green chile burger there recently. I haven't partaken, but back to the boutique... This place offers baby and wedding registries. Many of the items are fairly unique. The clothes, in my humble opinion, are simply overpriced and more geared to more mature ladies. ;) Definitely not my styles or fit. The staff members always have the place open! They rarely IF AT ALL close to set up for Christmas debuts like *cough cough* another place *Horsefeathers* did when I was mostly recently shopping (10/28/20). That's why they get my full 5 star love. TIPS + love their little lotions by "Camille" (tiny jar $1.50)... rare that I see my middle name on anything let alone boutique items + they have GOOD aromatherapy roll-ons ($12 each)! #ThankYouThursday

If you're not from Hobbs, we Hobbsans refer to the Broadmoor Mall as "the hall." This is not a hoppin' place. It's one-story. And basically it's set up as a hallway. But I digress... The lone female employee I interacted with on March 14, 2024, was extremely nice and helpful. I came for hair accessories. And because all of what I bought was "buy 3, get 3 free" I think I walked out with cute options for my 9-year-old daughter! I grabbed some cute cat keychains for my girls' Easter baskets. They do piercings here too of course. I'll be back.
