It's a small cafe sharing parking lots with target. Mom and pop place. Run by a family I believe. Counter was run by a child helping with taking orders on a weekend. Boy was polite and assisted with queries. You have to order at the cashier and food will be brought to you. We ordered egg rolls, pork mei fun, hot and sour soup and kung pao chicken This is a casual dining place, minimally decorated- with about 6 dining tables. I noticed that a lot more people did take out instead Food is served in take out containers. Egg rolls were decent. You can tell by the appearance that it is made from scratch - ignoring the presentation it is crispy and has filling that was not mushy. ( like homemade and reminded me of home) My pork meifun was delicious with wok hei and not oily it was delicious. The hot and sour soup was not something I liked. It tasted heavily of soy and not sour enough- hubby enjoyed that though. Kung pao chicken was not as expected. - not traditional type. Tasted like just fried battered chicken bits thrown into a spicy sauce and because hubby requested for extra spice - dried chilli flakes in oil was added on top. This dish missed its mark. Overall, i would come back for the meifun and the egg rolls. But possibly not the soup and definitely not the kungpao chicken. read more

I'm not sure why people have given this place 1 star. I was in Lincoln for a wedding, and I needed a good hot meal after my drive. I asked some local folks and everyone said to give Zhangs a try. I am glad I did. I was told ahead of time that this was more of a take out place, which was fine with me. I ordered at the restaurant, we had crab rangoons (great), fried wontons (also great), general tsos chicken, and an order of chicken lo mein. I'll start by saying that the food was great, as were the portions. We ordered and the lady that took our order gave us free egg rolls that we were not expecting. We drove back to our hotel, about a 10 minute drive, and the food was still piping hot, and the appetizers were hot and still crunchy. The chicken dish was awesome, and the lo mein was great. The place has a hole in the wall vibe, which in my opinion always has the best food. We have family in NE, and the next time we're in town, and craving Chinese, we will definitely be back. I'm sorry but what was this? I just paid $30 dollars for a meal of dog food. I ordered sesame chicken, and I couldn't even eat it. Every other piece I ate was a fatty gross piece. We've been coming to this location for years. The food is great, the items are priced fairly, and the staff is amazing. Every time we come in, they practically treat our kids like theirs. This has been our Togo Chinese place. Close. Good. Nice. Value. The value and good are going away, and I am so disappointed. The $9 dinner combo today was 2/3 rice and the little meal that there was has no sauce or flavor. The egg rolls are half the size. The Mongolian beef had minimal beef. The hunan chicken had no sauce. Zhang's is a worthwhile experience. It occupies sort of an odd niche, because it is relatively expensive for takeout Chinese, but their ingredients are top shelf. They're like the Bentley of Chinese takeout: it's the best you're going to find. Obviously something cheaper and more purely functional could get the job done (see the Golden Wok or Yang's Cafe or similar), but that's not what you use Zhang's for. It's a quality meal, and there are often leftovers (see photo). I'd also recommend eating in over delivery. As you can see from the schizophrenic reviews on Yelp, your experience may vary wildly depending on whether you get the food delivered or not. Yeah I know we're in Nebraska, but remember the language barrier. My wife and I have always eaten in the small dining area, and we have zero complaints. The owner will even act as a waitress if you dine in. Support this place so that those of us who live in South Lincoln don't have to keep driving all over town to get some decent food. There's nothing down here! There's a reason you're Yelping this place - it's because you don't want to have to drive all to hell and back just to eat! So go! read more

This place is the BEST! Vivian (the owner I believe) always makes me feel Welcome! I use to order take home every Thursday so she starting calling me Mr. Thursday. But Now I'm Mr. Tuesday as well! Outstanding!!!! The Chinese food in Lincoln is not the greatest. After eating at several restaurants there are very few I actually enjoy. South Lincoln is the hardest area to get good Chinese. Here we go...after seeing Zhang's while going to Target many times and passing it up but we decided to try it Sunday. Wow! This stuff is amazing. This is definitely up there close to calling it the best Chinese food in Lincoln. The crab rangoon is fantastic. It has actual crab in it, and is nicely fried. The Kung Pao is fresh tasking and just great. I ordered General Tso's and again it was very good. The sauce's flavor was PERFECT. I only wish it was a little spicier. No big deal though, it was so good. The fried rice...most restaurants here serve rice that is old and dry. Not here, the fried rice had great flavor, the grains were soft, and it tasted fresh. I always call in advance, the nice young girl on the other end generally sais my order will be ready in 10 minutes sometimes 20 minutes, the last 2 times I've showed up within a couple minutes of my order being due, the first time I waited an additional 15 minutes, this time I waited an additional 25 minutes, my food was cold (I suspect it had been forgotten), also my wife found a plastic tab in her rice ( the kind of tab you might find holding a price tag on a shirt), I'm very disappointed because zhangs is very close to my house and I love Chinese food, luckily panda express just opened so I'll be alright... no more zhangs for my family read more

This location has a nicer atmosphere and more seating - along with a fountain soda machine. The crab rangoons are a must try. I have just finished my first (and last) visit here. I ordered my favorite dish (peanut butter chicken). First off it was $12 for a lunch portion with a drink. Second the food was horrible. The chicken was rock hard after being cooked way too long. The sauce was bland and had no stand out flavors at all. Lastly my portion was so small that I was still hungry after forcing my bland food down. As bad as it was I can't afford to waste $12. Was really looking forward to ordering from this establishment. I was told by the nurses at Madonna Hospital that Zahngs was the best Asian delivery around and that they had ordered from them several times. I called both locations, the first one on Yankee Hill Rd said they had no time to do any delivery orders, the other on Coddington said they could deliver, but needed a $29 min order. Sdo I added to my order since I only had a $23 order. Then after going through all the order process I am told no, they won't deliver because its 17 miles away but on Google maps it's it only a 5 mile delivery. I'm very disipointed in both Zahngs locations for first advertising delivery hours until 9pm. Then when I try to order at 6pm one location says they dont have time for me, the other says I'm too far away when it's only a 10 to 12 min drive. I'm in a hospital so I cannot leave to get the order myself. Very unhappy, and doubt I will ever know if Zahngs is as good as they claim. I am just glad I did not place my order using their online order service. I would then be stuck with no food, and have to try and track someone down for a refund. read more

This was my first time going to Zhang's. I went in and ordered to-go. You do get a LOT of food this. The crab rangoons were super yummy, they packaged them with napkins in between so they weren't all soggy when I got home. I had the vegetable low mein which consisted of more green vegetables than any other vegetable which I appreciated. Definitely worth a trip out there. read more
