Sophie from Cake Pop Kitchen also helped me out with a recent Valentine's Day order for my partner. She was lovely, super helpful and the end product was exactly what I wanted. I've only tried the red velvet and double chocolate so far, but CPK offers a selection of flavours (including Reese's peanut butter), as well as custom cake pops if you fancy angry birds, ninjas or have your own design in mind. If you're after a gluten-free option, don't fret- they cater fot that too! While they only have one store in Auckland, they deliver nationwide, so no one has to miss out. Sharing the store with a cupcake shop, it was a baker's heaven. Not being from the North Shore I didn't particularly know the area very well, however putting the address into a GPS does the trick and gets you there perfectly (even though it may seem like you're getting lost in a residential area). The cake pops were very well presented and had quite a range to choose from. I had a chocolate raspberry cake pop and it was delicious! I was worried it would be quite hard, but it was lovely and moist with no signs of being over cooked. The cake pops are roughly $4 each. They also cater and would make a perfect birthday cake alternative for children. There is also a gluten free option. A win win situation. Al's sauce was the bonus that took it all over the top. I added the combo for a complete meal. The coleslaw had enough a unique tangy taste. The pickle and fries were ok. I will try the poutine fries next. Service was solid. I didn't know you pay at the register, but I was really satisfied with my meal that the extra time waiting to find out didn't matter. My croque monsiuer with its perfect cape of bechamel and drawer of grainy mustard could easily have been sourced from the backstreets of Paris. The toasted banana bread was a gooey, chewy, fluffy mouthful of childhood goodness. My only suggestion for improving this comfort zone is to invest in some proper cutlery and crockery. Cutting into toasted fare with picnic wear and drinking coffee out of paper cups does detract a tad from the romance of what it otherwise a very sweet new affair.

But not this one. They have everything you need if you're on a specialty diet, or if you're just following the crowd and doing it anyways. It's really handy if you need something on your way home from work as it's open until 7pm on weekdays. And it also has a brilliant community vibe that makes me want to always go there because I know I'm helping a local business. I'm always surprised with what I find there, they make my life a whole lot easier as I know I can go there and come out with everything I need to make a meal that I can enjoy.

The Pad Thai was plain and over cooked, to a degree I joked to my husband that we didn't need teeth to eat it. The fish cakes were oily and rubbery. The BBQ duck basil dish was such a disappointment, there was no duck meat on it, just FAT and SKIN! Yuck! But hold on, these weren't the worst! We found a hair (see photos attached) in the Spicy Beef Salad! You tell me where you think it's come from! We called and complained, and we were considering driving all the way back with these yucky food to show them! Anyway, the manager Dale phoned us back and offered a full refund. He was polite and professional, and made us feel like a valued customer.

I'm a bit of an aficionado on this soup and its this dishes balance of hot and sour that makes it brilliant. Soul Thai's version wasn't terrible but for my money ....
