Our crawl space is very very tight with a dirt bottom and Mike did not hesitate to get inside and take a look.

Tim the designed called me back the next day and scheduled an appointment to come and assess the housse. Our radon level had been testing between 6 and 8. Tom did a thorough assessment inside and out and created a proposal including a sketch of the installation, including the EXACT cost, which was just under $2000 - very reasonable. I was impressed that they use a large diameter downspout (matching our existing downspout color) extending to the roof line instead of PVC pipe. They also install a housing over the outside fan unit which looks great. They also seal the sump pump with a new lid and seal all the cracks around the perimiter of the basement. The technician Jorge came out two weeks later and performed the entire install. He was amazing! He explained everything, and left it all very clean. Very professional and courteous. I retested the radon level a couple of days later and it tested at .27!!!!!I HIGHLY recommend Dupage Radon Contractors. You will not be disappointed.

I called DuPage Radon and the very nice woman who answered the phone made it sound like they might cover it, but when she talked to her boss, he said no. Their quote to replace the unit was $400 (they were originally paid approximately $1,200 five years ago) and the soonest they could do it was New Year's Eve. I was able to find the exact same model radon fan at Home Depot for $150 and it literally took me no more than 15 minutes to remove the old unit (and I've never done this before). I'll install the new one when it arrives in the next few days. I don't know about you, but $500 an hour for labor seems excessive to me. Obviously I'm in the wrong profession. Meanwhile, I'm going to remove the DuPage Radon sticker from the cover just out of spite.

All he did was guess and said a lot of maybe this or maybe that. He even had problems using his volt meter and actually bent his needles and had to replace them. He couldn't get a good reading because he couldn't get the positive needle (red) in the volt meter and he did it twice/three times. Then he proceeded to disengage the pipe inside the furnace to shut the unit down, which then caused another code to appear. After that, he then expressed that maybe the exhaust/fresh air pipes going outside were clogged or that the installation was mis-aligned (after 4 years)! After an hour of guessing and coming up blank, he then said "well it's the blower motor and maybe the power switch or the pipes to the outside." I asked if he had the motor or the switch on the truck and he said it would have to be ordered, would probably get Tuesday and could install Wednesday and I would receive a call. I expressed my concern because of the cold and the frequency of the furnace going on and off and I was told to just turn it off at the main power switch for a minute and it would reset and work fine. I waited 3 wekes for a phone call not two days. I contacted the company Owner, Kevin Budinger and received no response. They ripped me off for $115! I purchased this furnace from this company, so I'm not just a new customer.

This was possibly the most unprofessional company that I've dealt with in the Chicagoland area. I…read moresigned up for the full package: sealing, rodent removal, follow-ups etc. The sealing was hardly adequate. After they deemed the job complete, despite several concerns that I brought up, a small family of raccoons took up residence in my basement. I called them back out. They only work M-F so they come out on Monday to open the traps, check them everyday and then return Friday to close them. One Friday, the guy called and said I wasn't on his schedule and could I close it for him. For whatever reason, I didn't (it was literally what I was paying them to do) and, of course, that is when the raccoon got caught. I had to feed the raccoon hotdogs for a few days until they came out, because I didn't want the raccoon dying on my property. The other raccoon children remained in the basement after their mom was removed. They were finally caught outside, which reinforced that the sealing that was done was woefully inadequate. I brought this up several times and it was ignored. CC continued to do follow-ups to ensure that the raccoons were completely gone until.... I got a call saying that the worker was at my gate but had lost my key. I required that CC replace my locks and they promised to put a lock box on my gate so that the key would no longer travel with them. A week later, the CC worker showed up... without the promised box. I fired them. The sealing remains questionable. Throughout our relationship, CC's workers would show up unaware of what the other workers or their general manager had committed to. There is no communication within this company. Promises were repeatedly broken and the work was half-ass. I would be embarrassed to claim this low quality work as a profession.

The gentlmen explained what they would do to trap and remove the skunk and secure the perimeter to prevent other animals from making homes underneath my parents shed. Even tho the quote of $2500 seemed very steep, the man seemed like he was being honest, and Critter Control would be able to take care of everything so my mom could avoid having to get someone else to put up a barrier after the skunk was gone. Well, she was very surprised when she received the contract via email and was billed for $1,000 more than what she was quoted. No explanation was given. Possibly an attempt to take advantage of an elderly customer? 6/14/25 As a follow up, my mom found another company who came out 2 times from the city to the NW burbs, got rid of 3 baby and mama skunks and put a barrier in for $750. As far as my mom contacting Critter Control, she did as soon as she received the contract. She was offered a discounted rate on something, but nothing close to the $1,000 jump in price she was originally quoted. I was present when I believe James came out and gave her the original estimate. He never said it could be more or less...that was the price he gave. Things turned out for the better in the end, but sorry, would never recommend this company.
