From the kind gentleman holding open the front door to the refined hosts at the entrance it was nothing short of wonderful. I was there a couple of years ago for a gala in the ballroom and it was exceptional but the small private lunch this past Thursday in a secluded dining room on the seventh floor felt like royalty.

My head was on a SWIVEL ready for someone bursting through a door with an axe. I was completely lost looking for "Room #4," and began to spiral. I soon realized that I just took the wrong elevator, and found the room pretty easy once I took the correct elevator lol. Once I gathered my composure and found Room #4, I could finally appreciate how stunningly beautiful this place was. It is like an Oligarch's MANSION straight from the 19th century. It's tasteful luxury, when luxury meant more than just cookie cutter modern architecture. They had an open bar and some bomb horderves all night, with my favorite being this fresh tuna on top of a cucumber. I ate like 30 of them. Me and the lady in a tuxedo walking around with the tray became well acquainted. I honestly have no real idea what this place is, but I imagine it's a members only club where the rich and famous gather to make important decisions. That's the vibe at least. Kinda eerie. I appreciate the club seeking to maintain fashion standards and curating an old-timey atmosphere…read more However, when it is done beyond reasonable common sense, it does not incentivize me to come back. I was a guest of a member during the 18-inch snow storm, so I wore my $500 dollar suede Danner lights (Made in the USA) to manage the snow. Upon entry, I was informed by the staff that, due to the suede being too light, it looked too much like Timberland boots, which are banned. I was professionally whisked to a backroom, where I was offered to wear black loafers 3 sizes too large if I wanted to make my appointment. I spent the rest of my time skipping through the venue in order to not trip over myself, wearing massively oversized shoes. I would have been okay with this footwear restriction if it was universally enforced, but there were plenty of people in the club wearing duck boots, metal hook leather hiking boots, and even the same type of boots of a slightly darker shade. Apparently, the shoe shade restriction was not something members are aware about (the no sneakers restriction is well known). I have previously been a guest here with positive experiences. However, today I was put in an illogically unsafe experience, forced to wear loaner shoes 3 sizes too large, because $500 lighter suede boots are deemed less classy than duck boots for being too"Timberland like" during a snow storm.

Afterwards, we went to the second floor for dinner. The dining area was very grand. We were seated right away. Even though it was peak dining hours, the space was pretty empty. Service throughout the meal was exceptional. The wait staff was so attentive and friendly. The food on the other hand was not the best. It stated off strong with a bread basket. The bead was warm and tasty with delicious butter on the side to spread on it. For my meal, I ordered a French onion soup and lobster tail Cobb salad. The FRENCH ONION SOUP was unfortunately quite watery and bland. The LOBSTER TAIL COBB SALAD was ok. There were a good amount of toppings on the salad and the portion was huge. But the main star, the lobster tail, was ice cold, rubbery and also very bland. All in all, even though the space is beautiful and service is impeccable, the food is just ok - really wish there was a bit more flavor to the dishes.

It looked like the elite Manhattan 5th Ave crowd would frequent this with its privacy. The club has an initiation fee of 10k from what I hear. Honestly, I felt like their service to reciprocal members was distasteful. Several times staff were like who are you in an accusatory manner when we had permission to be there. It left a really bad taste in my mouth. We walked into this building and the lady up front pressed the button to go up to the top of the building. The place has 2 restaurants. The top restaurant has an amazing view of the city from the terrace. I would have loved to sit out there and eat if it wasn't winter and wasn't closed. The bottom restaurant offered a pretty overpriced breakfast. I paid 20 bucks for toast and a coffee (which is insane). The toast did have an awesome strawberry jam. The place also has a nice lounge area, movie theater, and a hair studio. The place has a gym that has a great view of New York. The place doesn't offer a lot of gym equipment, however. There is also a meditation room and bathroom that has a sauna.

I liked this place because it has a modern but relaxed vibe.
