Ludlow (aka Soho) House is a lovely private club ensconced in the vicinity of the Lower East Side. It opened in 2016 by the owner of the chic English Soho House of London UK. Historically, the 143 year-old building was formerly a gold-leaf factory and high-end funeral parlour. The interior is designed to reflect the gritty, artistic history of the Lower East Side. Upon further exploration, of the club's four stories of rooms, we notice an eclectic mix of vintage pieces mostly salvaged from local vintage and consignment shop finds with unique artwork on display. The plush "Velvet Room" used for private screenings, was inspired by the apartment where Lou Reed and John Cale recorded early music demos, thus "the Velvet Underground" reference. Im an every house member and this one is probably my least visited one. The entry is so shady. Like why must I solve a mystery and unlock the secret to heaven to get in? I've pressed buttons, called them over the phone, knocked on the door, but 2 out of 2 times, someone coming out has let me in. The aesthetic is nice, very soho. But the ACs kinda don't work. The service is pretty decent. But random floors have been closed every time I've visited. Idk it's not for me. I like the other two better. read more

Stayed here for a night trip and it was first class from the moment you walked in. People greeted you and were present to help you get situated and enjoy your stay. The atmosphere is great to relax, wine and or dine if you choose. They did an amazing job with the layout and decor. You are sitting inside but feel like you are enjoying a drink sitting in the courtyard outside taking in the sounds of the city. Ludlow house is super comfy and inviting - Luigi is amazing! Always takes care of me and my friends. Top 3 things to note: 1. It's a little hard to find on Ludlow, it's not obvious what it is as you walk by. But that's all SoHo house! 2. There is plenty of sitting and hang out stops that serve different experiences! There's a patio that has amazing decor, multiple floors, and quieter areas if you need to work. 3. I wouldn't say the food is amazing, but the drinks and desserts are SO good! The food and cocktails are standard like every Soho house ever. Despite its popularity and location, I loved that during my visit it wasn't too crowded, allowing for a more intimate experience. Eh... The Ludlow House is a sexy vibe from the moment you walk in and I get the exclusivity that this place is trying to convey here but, The Grotto experience was just "eh". The food was especially tasteless, so much so I had to ask for salt (which they gave me an empty wooden grinder) and pepper AND hot sauce. I looked around and saw a lot of half eaten plates on tables filled with pancakes and scrambled eggs. Me; I ate every bit of that $16 meatless quesadilla (yep! Scrambled eggs, mushrooms and cheese, sliced in tiny triangles!). Decor was beautiful, but we were cold by a door with a merciless draft! We played ring-a-round the roses at the table until we decided to just hang our coat on the handle to block the wind. Service was fine and we ended up paying almost $75 for one drink, one sparkling water, a quesadilla and smoked salmon. Eh, you win some, you lose some. read more

I attended as a guest of a friend recently and had a nice experience. The main floor is dark and cozy with a lounge vibe and a fireplace. The other floors have their own decor and look. We ate dinner at the Chinese restaurant upstairs, which says their specialty is duck. We didn't try the duck but shared various dumplings, appetizers, and fried rice dim sum style. Everything was very tasty, and there was a lot of fried rice--plenty of leftovers to take home. I see some comments here about not having good service, but we had a good experience both at the Chinese restaurant upstairs and the bar downstairs--no issues, and everyone was friendly. A cool place to go if you know someone to get you in! It's also close to the Delancey and Essex subway stop, so pretty easy to get to. read more

The decor here is warm, inviting- the lighting is similar to Soho House- super super dim, candles around the room etc. It's also smaller and so feels a little more cozy and low key. I seriously am in love with this vibe and alllllll the furniture and light fixtures here. We had some cocktails (yummy yum Negronis) upstairs and then headed downstairs for some snacks. Burger, salad, and dip plate. From a food stand point the bar could be raised here. 3 stars for food. 4 stars for vibe and 5 stars for service. I was invited by a friend and member to have lunch at Ludlow House and I'm so grateful for the invitation! We had a relaxing meal at the pop-up Mexican restaurant on the top floor. The food was delicious, I ordered enchiladas and we all split the guacamole. I also had a hand-pressed juice (ginger) that was excellent. The service was very friendly and prompt. The food came out tapas-style, but we were all served at around the same time (party of four). The spacious seating and open air top floor was so nice on a spring day in NYC. It was nice to be able to sit back and converse in a low-key environment, away from the bustle of the city. I was very impressed by Ludlow House. read more

Stayed here for five days - hotel is GORGEOUS. Food is atrocious. Worst service and most over priced food I've ever seen. From being charged $12/side of bacon to the $48 burger (worst I've ever had!) A 4-star hotel that is this luxurious should have delicious food; should also have decent staff service but neither can be expected here. read more

There are a few of these members only spots around the city, like Parlor for instance. I didn't know much about the Place beforehand but attended a special event here. The floor I was on was the third and I was aware different floors had different food options for purchase. The stage was nice on the third floor and the performance was enjoyable. The couches were relaxing but I wanted to stand for the performance and Be closer to the stage and the artwork. I am not a member so not sure when I would come back but it was a cool experience. Bartenders were alright on the third floor, just took a brief peek at second floor to see the scene. I think it was one of those I do not even need to be back here kind of moments. I had the beef chow fun at my last visit and it was great. I understand their pizza is coming back soon! There are 4 floors with a different vibe on each one. This is a members-only club that I'm not a member of, so I probably won't be going back any time soon. I got in because I was on the list for a friends performance on the third floor, which was the only part of the club that I had access to. The third floor is a wonderful lounge set-up; romantic lighting, comfortable seating, and a beautiful bar. I could spend all night people watching and enjoying the luxurious interior. The stage at the end of the space isn't anything special, but the sound was great. You can either sit close by in armchairs or enjoy the couches towards the back. I felt a bit out of place; I'm obviously not the kind of person who would belong to this club, but it was easy to make conversation with everyone as they were all very nice and inviting. The service was great- the downstairs check-in went smoothly and the bartender was attentive and polished. Tip: you have to ring the doorbell in order to get in. The door is inconspicuous, but there's usually a small crowd outside that gives it away. read more

BEST DUCK I have ever had. They do it properly. And I was happy to see that my Asian people were the folks cooking duck. Dayum they know what's up. It's so juicy and yummy with the pork buns and the sauce. It's all so mouth watering. If you just order appetizers it's very affordable, but you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't get the DUCK. IT'S SOOOOO WORTH IT! Jeremy's condescending attitude and inability to work with his customers to find a solution or a compromise is inexcusable. The definition of the job for Jeremy and the staff is customer service. Ok so- went in with a friend thinking of a membership of my own. $8,000 for the year paid quarterly to essentially hang out at a coffe shop with free wifi? Um, Yea, no chance I don't think so. The place is um, nice. But Really its just a whole bunch of 2 & 4 seat tables on all the floors with 99% of them occupied by 1 person, their coat & computer. Really annoying- like a coffee shop with 1 person & their laptop occupying every place for 2 or more to sit. Really annoying to me. So- really just lame. All the lonely people... that's from a beetles song but- it's really sad in there. Dozens of lonely people sitting alone pretending to be what, working? they all looking depressed, but cool? No, sorry, and paying thousands of dollars to do so- with what, the possible sighting of a famous person? nauseating. The food- where do I begin? We Ordered two entrees and an appetizer. Too way too long- almost a 30 min ticket time with no one else ordering food... all 3 items came out at the same time and were all cold. My friends salad was the only pass given as you don't cook salads lol. do you complain at a place you pay $8000 a year to be a member of? burger was dry. Flavorless. Cold. And Smaller than the bun. Like literally was the size of a slider, only there was 1 and it was $18. lesson in life people- you can't buy cool. You can pay thousands to pretend you are... but look around in there- It looks like the students from a library at a community college in buffalo all bought cool clothes to dress up in to sit alone in front of MacBooks. Worst FOH service I've experienced in my 17 years in NYC. Rude, unhelpful, and elitist staff ... and considering it's a pay to play club, that's sort of hilarious. Especially because the only reason I was there was because I was working press for an event - and I've been to many of the other locations as press and have been pitched membership more times than I can count (without ever buying into this ridiculous scheme). On top of the atrocious FOH, the drinks and service was sub-par and overpriced. Even though the event was supposed to end at 11, they raised the lights at 10 ... and they kept raising them. I'm not sure why anyone would actually pay to be associated with this kind of place, other than to flash cash around. Oh, and not to mention they didn't even check my vax card. It is sorta an overall reminder of why people think New York is terrible. And I hate that, because I love this city and feel a certain responsibility to point out the things that bring it down. One of my fav houses. Very much a vibe here. Staff is nice and members are more laid back than other houses in Meatpacking, Miami and LA.

This post is specifically regarding the female bartender at Lou's (I believe the 2nd floor?), who acted like she was doing us an annoying favor from the moment we sat down at the bar until the minute we left. The bartenders do authentic versions of drinks (i.e. they actually made my whiskey sour the proper way with the foam of egg whites). I cannot say enough good things about this place. From the moment you walk in that you are transported on a journey. Obviously you have to have a membership to get in. Then you can go to several different floors each of which has a unique vibe to them. The top floor serves vegetarian food and duck. The other floors have a great menu. We had a roasted cauliflower dish that was just excellent. We also had a little gem salad that was tasty and chicken wings that were very good. Love it here.
