There are a few things I look for when I'm researching for a medical professional. First, I look up credentials (no brainer there) and Dr. Posey just happened to have graduated from my alma mater albeit many moons before me. Second, I look up any ratings available online or any personal recommendations from other patients and/or doctors. Finally, the ease, efficiency and politeness of their front office staff. Nothing's worse than trying to get an appointment or a simple question answered with a staff that's rude and incompetent. Thankfully, Associates in Medicine (which Dr. Posey is a part of) has a very pleasant and efficient staff. There are many things I love about going to an "old school" doctor. Dr. Posey isn't a young man (in fact, he reminds me of my grandfather) but his knowledge is broad and he is impeccably thorough in his examinations. In one of his initial thorough examinations, I found out I had mitral valve prolapse which had gone undiagnosed by my former physician for 20+ years. Dr. Posey listened to my heart sounds in all the correct positions while sitting up as well as had me turn to my left side while supine so the heart could be in a more anterior position to hear the "click" of my inefficient valve more clearly. I think I've only EVER done that in school and have never actually seen it in practice. I also had an EKG done (other issues with my heart) which, again, my original physician never did. He also did neuro checks which many, many physicians would skip in a young, seemingly healthy patient like myself. Overall, Dr. Posey requests a full physical exam once a year in his patients which include blood work (CBC, chemistry, thyroid, cholesterol panel), urinalysis & culture, and a chest x-ray. During my first year being his patient, I declined all the exams (because I was a bad patient and just wanted to be seen for my actual focused problem) but since then I've been compliant because I know Dr. Posey is looking out only for my best interest. Perhaps one of my favorite things about Dr. Posey is his bedside manner. He isn't one of those 5 minute physicians we're all so used to these days. He takes his time to interview you and do your exam to correctly diagnose the problem. And if he doesn't have the answer, he's more than happy to refer you to someone who does (with a personal phone call). Once, when I had to have minor surgery, Dr. Posey arranged my office visit with the surgeon for the following morning by calling the surgeon himself while I waited in one of the exam rooms. When he came back, he handed me a printed copy of my insurance and told me that the surgeon's office was expecting my call and that I was scheduled the next morning for my surgery. When I went to the surgeon's office the following day, apparently, the surgeon doesn't even have morning clinic that day but put me in as a favor to Dr. Posey! I sincerely appreciated that extra little effort. I know how hard it is to find a good physician these days and I feel very fortunate to have stumbled upon such a great doc.

I got a call from a representative who spent 45 minutes on the phone with me to answer all of my questions. Once I signed up to the program and downloaded the app to communicate with my physicians, I immediately got a first appointment in the same week. Upon arrival, I was greeted at the door by Dr. Goyal and in the same room I met Dr.Dhukka who were BOTH in the room with me. I listed my concerns, and they came up with a treatment plan for me. Not only did I have options for treatment, they went out of their way to find which pharmacy had the best costs for me prescription wise. A few weeks later, my routine lab work (covered by their program) came back, I asked if I could do a few other tests and found out I had another underlying ailment. We had a long talk when I came back into the office about it, and it wasn't about the diagnoses but they genuinely cared about how I felt about the diagnoses. I was then referred to a specialist by Dr.Goyal, and what I appreciate about this referral is that it wasn't just someone he knew, but he also kept my budget in mind. Also, before the referral, Dr.Goyal went out of his way to get opinions on my bloodwork by other specialists he knew. That's how we got such a quick understanding about what was going on with me. In 1.5 months, we've managed to figure out why I was feeling so fatigue. Ways I can improve it and my options with treatment. I cannot recommend this enough. It's hard to explain but think of it like a gym membership for your healthcare needs. So many basic things are included, you don't have to worry about wait time, if you need to see them, they are almost always available or you can reach out to them through the app. This is direct doctor to patient healthcare and it's the best thing in my opinion . Staff told me the forms are normally sent only 24 hours before the appointment. I repeatedly explained that I had multiple medical records to upload into the portal and wanted the physician to have adequate time to review them before the appointment. On Friday, I was specifically promised that the forms would be emailed Monday. Monday came, and nothing was sent. I called several more times and was repeatedly transferred without receiving the paperwork, an explanation, or a resolution. I eventually spoke with Maria Christina. It sounded as though she was driving or otherwise distracted, so I asked three times whether she was available to speak with me. Each time, she responded in a condescending and dismissive tone, "I'm speaking with you." When I asked why the forms were still unavailable after a week of calls and promises, she did not answer my question, provide an explanation, or offer a resolution. Instead, she abruptly stated, "We're going to cancel your appointment." This office turned a basic request for routine patient paperwork into a week-long runaround and then cancelled the appointment rather than provide the forms, explain the delay, or resolve the issue. The administrative service was completely unprofessional and disorganized.
