I saw doctor Jennifer Deaver in early 2023 for a specific skin issue. I felt as though she did not listen to my concerns and after describing my problems she recommended I get tested for Lupus. I was confused because she listed the symptoms of Lupus and I did not have a single one but she sent me away with no solution and requested I have lab work done. I've since moved to Dallas and started seeing another provider who confirmed what I originally suspected was the issue with my skin. I have gone to this practice for actual dermatological issues, not cosmetic/botox/fillers, etc. Now, they do not accept Medicare patients, who, also, have other insurance. They want to concentrate apparently on the cash paying, private insurance patients. Very disappointed. read more

Upon entering this business it is welcoming and hands down most beautiful and aesthetically pleasing offices I've seen. I have never been more impressed with a doctor's office than I am with Dr. Peterson and her staff. I called on a Monday as a new patient with the high hopes of getting an appointment within 2 weeks. Lucky for me, there was just a cancellation and I could come in at 10:15 the very next day. Danielle sent me the patient portal information via email so I could login and fill out the required new patient forms online prior to my appointment. I LOVE this system because my handwriting sucks and also because I'll always have online access to my paperwork. I arrive a few minutes early for my appointment and am immediately greeted warmly and efficiently. I take a seat in the very comfortable and posh waiting area and am struck by one of the best views of downtown I've ever seen. Straight ahead is downtown, to the right is Hermann Park and the zoo, and Rice Univeristy is to the left. The waiting room features fresh coffee and a carafe of strawberry and pineapple infused water. All I've got time to do is snap a few quick skyline pics and then I am shown to a room 10 minutes before my scheduled appointment and the nurse, Martina, takes good care of me with the standard pre-doctor questions. A few short minutes later, Dr. Peterson, professionally yet stylishly clad in black skinny jeans and black sparkly flats, introduces herself and talks to me for a good 20 minutes. She efficiently takes note of my issues and tells me what prescriptions I need and how I'll use them. During this, her nurse Chelsea takes notes on what the doctor is saying to prescribe to me so that Dr. Peterson can look me in the eye and talk one-on-one. As an afterthought at the end of my appointment, I show the doctor a tiny dark spot on my shoulder. Dr. Peterson is reassuring that it is probably nothing but recommends that they do a biopsy to be sure, and she is willing to do it right then and there so I don't have to come back. Chelsea applied a local anesthesia which only pinched a little bit, and 5 pain-free minutes later, the biopsy is done and I have my very first stitch. I return in 2 weeks to get my single stitch removed. On my way out, I receive a brochure with most of the information the doctor gave me, the care instructions for my "wound" (lol) and a free sample and coupon for my prescription! I cannot praise Dr. Peterson and her staff enough for making this my easiest doctors visit ever. I will definitely continue coming here for my dermatology needs. read more

I was disappointed by the lack of empathy for me as a patient. I was prescribed a medication that tragically turned my face black, and it has taken me years to try to correct with other Dr visits and medications. I also tried rescheduling a visit due to unsafe weather. I called twice, and each time they did not tell me there would be a price change once rescheduled. Went here for consultation, the doctor was okay, she gave me options of my tx., but she is not really sympathetic. Anyways, I called before to make sure they are accepting my insurance, so they are. When I left, the lady who is asian told me that I NEED TO PAY 50 for my co pay, I said that I already met my out of pocket deductible, she said I still need to pay. I've been going to Dr Katz since this office opened. I have to say, the office and staff have continued to improve from an already great standard. I went yesterday for a small procedure and ended up having a questionable mole removed as well. I stayed in the vehicle until my room was ready, was screened for Covid and checked in. No interaction with other patients or excess staff. Dr Katz was in the room within minutes and not only performed the procedure I was there for, but also assessed a questionable mole and removed it in the same visit. I was in and out before my original appointment time. This is the best dermatologist I've ever been to, and they have not decreased their level of service as they have grown. read more

This is not a good place to go for help with losing your hair. The doctor did not do any test. Just took my money and tried to schedule future follow-ups. She did nothing to help me with my hair loss. She even suggested a over the counter drug that I could have walked into the pharmacy and picked up. I went to another dermatologist and my hair is now growing. Do not go this place She does not know what she is doing when it comes to hair loss. read more

My sweet boyfriend had a very large cyst on his back that got severely infected in a matter of days. We had called several places letting them know the severity, and that it was about to rupture. No offices would fit him in to help him until weeks or months out. He called Pearl dermatology and Bailey helped fit him in the very next morning. She was very nice, extremely caring and eager to help him. Dr. Katz and her technician came in within a matter of minutes of his arrival to drain his cyst. You cannot be fooled by a clean office or convenient hours - you have to feel SECURE that you are getting the best treatment. I saw a dermatologist in New Orleans last year, a few months prior to moving here to Houston, and was left so shaken by his interactions with staff, approach to treatment, and recommendations that I cancelled my follow-up. His nurse actually called me after my appointment to tell me she would not pursue the treatment option he was recommending, and an aesthetician confirmed that his diagnosis was so off it would have been damaging to me. Now that we're settled here in Houston, I went off other Yelp reviews to find a new MD and went to The Pearl Dermatology earlier today. I was so impressed with Dr. Peterson's thorough, patient, and conservative approach to problem-solving my concerns, and she even offered a new hypothesis that totally made sense as to why I've been so inflamed. She was warm and kind, as well as looked over all skin products I was using, from facial wash and sunscreen to night cream, and told me what to keep and what to add/shift. I'm excited to try what she prescribed, and I love that she wanted to try more simple, less dramatic steps before jumping to something more severe. Dr. Peterson pushed zero products on me, and in fact, had a nurse give me a handful of samples of a prescription cream to tide me over until mine arrives from their recommended pharmacy, as well as recommended some drugstore/easily accessible brands. I went to Pearl for the first time this past week and was very impressed. For starters, I was able to find a parking spot very easily and didn't have to pay which is almost nonexistent these days. Secondly, the staff was so kind and professional! Even while sitting in the waiting room, I could hear how kind and caring the receptionist was being on the phone to other patients. Finally, Dr. Peterson was so kind! She suggested products that she uses herself and was very thorough with going over my concerns. The office is gorgeous as well. I wanted to visit Dr. Peterson twice before posting a review. I had some terrible under-eye filler done several months ago and didn't trust the doctor who put it in to remove it. Dr. Peterson agreed to dissolve it for me and made me look so much better. She is the absolute sweetest. I then visited her for a little botox and holy cow, she made me look incredible. Dr. Peterson is wonderful! She is so personable and very knowledgeable! I explained to her what my problems were, and she had a full game plan for me. She didn't make me feel rushed, and she genuinely listened to all of my concerns and addressed them all. I'm very excited to see my results and am supposed to have a check up in 2 months. Follow up if you have urgent health issues very patchy even after leaving multiple messages. I might say I am addicted to her because she has a great bedside manner, is easy to talk to, and always willing to work with you to get the results you want.
