I saw Dr. Mays about a cyst on my upper lip. I wanted to see about having it removed. I wasn't in her office for 5 minutes and she was pushing a needle into my lip saying I had to have a biopsy. She said the cyst wouldn't be completely removed but would look better. My concerns were not discussed and options were not discussed. Dr. Mays did what she wanted and I was left with a larger opening on my upper lip. When Dr. Mays took off the skin for the biopsy my cyst was opened. I now look like I have a large piercing in my upper lip. I've had multiple people ask me if I have a piercing. Dr. Mays didn't address my needs. I will now have to go to a plastic surgeon. I would hope a doctor would take more care when working on a person's face. Billing is also an issue. I received a bill and paid it in Nov. 2025. Today, I received another bill for the same thing I already paid. When I called to clear it up, I was told the practice was sold and I'd have to contact the old owner. I tried to contact the old owner, but could only leave a voicemail. Who knows if I'll ever hear back. read more

I've been using Houston Skin Care for years, and I can no longer recommend them! I had an appointment just two weeks ago and have been unable to get a prescription refill for a medication I've been using for years! The staff is simply incompetent now. I've called dozens of times, left messages and emails and have received no return calls or emails, and when my prescription was finally called in, it was for the wrong medication which is NOT covered under medical insurance. I still have been unable to get my original medication refilled. It's simply incompetence on the part of the staff. I no longer recommend this dermatology clinic! read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This office is a literal dumpster fire. I have been trying to get my pathology report to see if the mole they removed was cancerous and they will not return my call. I've literally called 50 times over the last 2-3 weeks. Dr Mays clearly took one look at me and decided she wanted to bill for a mole removal, but now I cannot even get some verification that it (hopefully) wasn't cancerous. He froze a few spots on my scalp and said he would call in a prescription for a rash I had. Couldn't be bothered to give me the once over for any skin issues since this was my first visit. It's been three days and nobody has yet to call in my prescription to my pharmacy. Three voice mails, an email and no response whatsoever. Terrible experience. You want a doctor who treats you like they got your back. I do not recommend this practice. Terrible experience. I have a fear of my hair thinning and I wanted to check it out, so I booked an appointment at HoustonSkin. BIG MISTAKE. The ladies at the desk were super nice, that's all I can say that was good about the establishment. The assistant came in and asked questions and was more helpful than the "Doctor"(Steven K. Trying) himself. Spent more time with the assistant than the actual "Doctor". Once the "Doctor" came in, he glanced at my hair for 5 seconds and then prescribed me medication I was not interested in taking. He simply just read my concern on the booking and prescribed me something I am not willing to take (it could cause irreversible issues and I am only 22). I then said how about you prescribe me this instead? And he prescribed it for me. I basically prescribed myself medication and he just signed off on it, very unprofessional and possibly a liability due to the less than 10 second "evaluation". He then offered a procedure that is not covered by my insurance that I could not afford. I wasted a $35 co-pay for a "Doctor" (Steven K. Trying) to look at my head for 5 seconds and prescribe me a medication and didn't ask me if I had any questions. He was very anxious to leave the room. He was in the room for a total of 2 minutes and a minute and a half of that was me explaining I didn't want the first medication prescribed to me. If you actually need assistance for dermatology, go somewhere else this place is unprofessional and will simply take your money and dignity. I now feel even worse than before entering the facility as none of my questions were answered, only fed with nonsense and a sense that I am not cared for. Thank you HoustonSkin! I was a patient here for more than three years. They prescribed specialty prescriptions and I bought packages from their spa next door. At the end of 2022, they changed their phone system so they didn't answer the phone or call me back. I couldn't get someone to look into an issue with a prescription, couldn't schedule an appointment. Supposedly you could chat via text but that didn't work. They used to have Saturday appointments but they got rid of those too. They said (this month) that they changed personnel and whine to YOU about the backlog of issues, as if you weren't also affected. I am STILL trying to resolve the insurance issue from September, but I guess I'm being annoying to not just pay the $10K out-of-pocket cost. I waited 45 minutes past my appointment time. When I finally got escorted to a room, a surly aide asked - why are you here? Mind you, this appt was at the request of this office, so it's not like they didn't have access to my records/files. Came here a couple of times for appointments related to a lipoma removal and I walked away with a positive impression of the place! First, they have their own dedicated parking lot, so that's really nice. The purpose of my first appointment was to get the lipoma checked out and schedule a surgery for its removal. I did the paperwork there before my appointment and it was pretty straightforward. I was seen very quickly and a PA (along with someone shadowing her - they asked my permission!) checked me out. I thought she did a fine job, although the appointment felt just a little bit rushed. She left at some point and I was expecting her to come back, but instead the nurse (who was very nice!) was the only person I saw. She scheduled my surgery and took pictures for the surgeon. Unfortunately, I had to have the surgery done at the Pearland location due to the doctor's schedule and my rush to get the lipoma removed before my wedding, but no big deal - just a little bit of a longer drive :) For my second appointment (after my surgery was done, I came back to this location to get my stitches removed), it was again very straightforward. Almost immediately after I arrived, a nurse took me to a exam room and took out the stitches. It only took about 10 minutes in total, and since I arrived quite early for my appointment, I was very happy that it was so quick and that I didn't have to wait around! The nurse was very nice and did a great job. Two negatives, though: 1) I was kind of hoping my insurance would pay for my surgery, and I was told nothing to the contrary at my first appointment. However, when I was speaking with the Pearland office, I was informed that I would have to pay for the entire surgery out of pocket. I've actually had the lipoma removed before and previously insurance helped cover it - granted, the lipoma was largely cosmetic, but I felt a bit blindsided when told I would have to pay for everything. 2) The surgeon at the Pearland office had no idea I had a wedding coming up in a few weeks when he came in to do the surgery. He looked pretty concerned and shocked when I told him! I feel like the Binz office should have passed on that information since it definitely had an impact on how he chose to proceed (with respect to which stitches he used, for example). Overall, I would definitely come back here, despite the issues mentioned above. They saw me quickly and did a good job examining my lipoma, scheduling my surgery, and taking out my stitches after the fact. read more

I had a mole removed for biopsy and another problematic one frozen at this clinic (Museum District unit). The doctor was not very friendly and seemed to be in an awful hurry. They charged in advance for the procedure (which my insurance covers as it did before in the same clinic) and just "forgot" about it. The procedure was on July 8, in midi August I called their billing person about the refund (as my insurance paid for the service as expected) and she told me I had to wait, she was going to call me.. never did. On September 28(!!) I wrote to her about this and she said.. yes.. you have a refund... and that she now requested my refund check to be issued and..... "I believe administration issues checks every 6-8 wks." (extra 6-8 weeks after me being waiting for over 2 months!!!!) So.... here we are, on October 14 and I still did not receive my refund from a procedure done in July 08!! My suggestion is: if you can't afford or do not want to loan your money to them indefinitely... do not go there. I'm not returning! read more

This review is for 3.5 stars but I rounded up. I recently moved and this office was only 12 minutes away as opposed to my old place that would have taken me 40 minutes. I decided to give it a try and it looked nice and I was hoping it would help me. I get random breakouts of adult acne (I know, I never had acne problems during my adolescent years but they pop up when they usually aren't supposed to). First thing is first: it is a bigger practice with several dermatologists operating out of it. When you call in, there will be an automated machine. When you finally get to talk to a human, they may not be the person you originally spoke with so you need to give them the background of why you're calling. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but if you have questions, it can be a drag. I got to the clinic 10 minutes before my appointment. The complex was dedicated to skin and it was clean and I liked the layout. It also has its own private lot! I completed my paperwork at home and brought them completed and saw Dr. Sra 10 minutes after my appointment. When brought in, I was asked some basic questions and the actual time with Dr. Sra was a maximum of 7 minutes. She got straight to the point and asked me about my issues and that was that. She told me that I would be prescribed an antibiotic and a topical cream of sorts and then left after briefly asking if there were any questions. That wasn't to say she wasn't nice, but it was just business. I'm used to talking to the doctor for at least 10 minutes where we get to know one another. The cool thing was that because I'm on a time crunch as I would be out of the country within a month, some other procedures were suggested and I decided to try out the microdermabrasion. It would be in the same building - just down the hall. All in all, the visit was short and to the point. The staff was nice, but I was confused when it came to my prescriptions. I never saw the actual names of the medication and had to go back and forth (it turned out that I was prescribed brand name medications and not generic) but they were helpful when my usual pharmacist (and insurance provider) required more information and they sent it to another pharmacist who shipped the item to me. They did give me samples of my prescribed meds to tide me over... Did they know it would take almost a week to get them? Haha, I kid. However, I wished that it was more personal and I wasn't even asked if I wanted something done about my keloid scar. The actual visit didn't include anything else other than talking to the doctor for those 5 odd minutes. For the same base rate for the visit, I would have gotten a free acne extraction and chemical peel at my old place. It might be due to the area; I imagine that keeping a place by Montrose would cost. I'm thinking about needing to talk to the doctor again but am iffy if I would need to schedule another appointment, based on a previous review. This is because the acne isn't disappearing and more, albeit smaller ones, are actually popping up (it's been almost 3 weeks since my visit). read more

But the nurse however, was very fast talking so it was hard for me to keep up with what she saying...not really a big deal though. I visited a Physician's Assistant several times to deal with my condition. She was very kind but not helpful in resolving my issue. Further, the office staff is unhelpful. When I called the office, I was able to speak to someone less than half of the time and I never received a call back when I left a message (several times). When I had test results available, I had to call the office two separate times to get them and I was only able to speak to a nurse (who was unable to interpret the results). I was very unhappy with the service and found another dermatologist who has been more proactive about helping me resolve my condition. read more

I originally chose this location because ZocDoc talked about their efficiency and professionalism. My first meeting with Dr. Karen Sra was incredible. She was informative and personable. I went back later and Dr. Sra was unavailable. I saw another dermatologist who barely looked at me. I was in and out of the office in less than 10 minutes. He gave me a prescription that did not work. I went back to Dr. Sra. I arrived and waited for thirty minutes to be seen. She came in was done in less than 10 minutes. I was given a prescription and sent on my way. It didn't work. How is it that each person is seen as though they are on a factory assembly line and there can still be a wait? The last straw was when I went in for the same condition. The first two prescriptions did not work. I was given a biopsy and sent out. When they asked me to pay my $60 copay, I did (I was annoyed as I can't imagine that the value of the 10 minute interaction is $60... but, that's the nature of that money-making venture). I was LIVID when I was told to pay an additional $150. I had received biopsies before and had not been charged like that. To me, $150 is a HUGE expense to give to a patient without a conversation ahead of time. Especially if you aren't expecting it. I paid it angrily and left. I was told I would hear my results in the next two weeks. That was on 11/9. On 11/28, I received a message from my insurance letting me know that I still had more to pay at that office AND an additional $200 for the pathology. I still had not heard back. I contacted the office and said I hadn't received my results. I got them back in email form. No documents. No official message from the doctor. Just an email from their front office person (who actually is quite nice) letting me know my diagnosis. I was told to come in for a consult on how to proceed (another waste of $60). This angered me even more because Dr. Sra had told me that we could talk about my results and next steps over the phone so as to avoid that extra time off from work and copay. I guess she didn't remember that. All in all, this dermatologist is a definite NO. Find an office that remembers that patients are people. read more

Waited for almost an hour for my appointment & when I got into the room Niki was very abrupt & rude with me about not having compression socks for my visit. Well, I wasn't told I needed them. This week I had the worst experience ever with Dr. Sra. I was recommended to to her by one of my good friends. As she walked in she was short and in a rush to get in and out. I was given my diagnosis in less that 1 minute. When I wanted to go more in detail she quickly shut me off and told her assistant to send my prescriptions in . Not only did the assistant with the glasses send in the wrong prescription but i called multiple times and the front desk continuously placed me on hold. It took me 2 weeks to get my prescription sent correctly and 220 dollar visit for less than a 5 min visit. Her demeanor is cold an all about money. I felt like a number. I will never go back AGAIN! This is probably the LONGEST review I have EVER written on yelp, but I read so many negative reviews on this place, I wanted to experience it for myself and give my true and honest thoughts. Plus, I really needed to find a dermatologist place to treat my eczema condition. So why not go to the place, make a review and say my thoughts? I'm writing this review AFTER I have been treated with my eczema condition and giving my full thoughts. I was looking for a dermatologist close in my area, so my insurance gave me a list of facilities close by. This facility was the the closet, and it was literally about 10 minutes from my apartment. It's directly across from the Children's Museum, off of Binz and La Branch. I do like the fact that they have their own parking lot for patients, staff, doctors and anyone going into the facility. You don't have to pay for parking. The outside is also very modern looking. Inside the facility is very clean and nice looking. I really do appreciate the fact that they do courtesy calls and texts. I'm quite forgetful and getting a nice courtesy call was helpful. Upon scheduling an appointment, I notice that the front desk service is incredibly slow. What I mean by that is, it could take a while to speak to a real person before making an appt. When you first call, you'll get an automated message asking to press 1 for the Dermatological Association of Texas or another number for something else. You'll either get a hit or miss with an answering service with Kenia's voicemail or an actual person. A lot of the reviews I have read on here have been where people are just plain upset with the front desk and their nonexistent responses. In my defense, I have yet to experience that, or maybe I'm just impatient and I don't have the time to leave a voicemail because I know from personal experience that I won't get a call back most of the time. So I just hang up and call back in an hour. That's usually how I handle things. Once I finally got to speak with a real person, I scheduled an apt as a first time patient. Gave all my information, including insurance, after a week, I made sure my insurance was verified so that I wouldn't be surprised by the cost and also made sure that I could pay with my copay. Tuesday May 12, 2015 at 2:15 pm was my first doctor's visit. I currently work at a doctor's office so I was preparing myself to wait an hour or more before my actual visit. I brought my backpack full of books and homework to keep myself busy while I waited in the waiting area. I came in around 1:45 pm to fill out some paper work and interestingly enough, get my picture taken for my chart. I've never seen that before at a doctor's office. The lady I spoke with was Kenia and she was pretty helpful and nice to me. But anyways, I finished my paper work and sat back down. I chit chatted with an older man that sat next to me, and I would say we talked for about a good 10 MINUTES. After those 10 minutes, I got called in to the patient room. One of the ladies in the scrubs asked me about what was my reason for coming in and I told her that I had intense itching on my back, so she handed me a gown and said to take off my shirt and put on the gown, leaving the back open for the doctor to asses me. After she left, I would say I waited for about another good 5 minutes? And then the doctor came in and spoke to me. I had Dr. Robare-Stout, she was actually pretty nice and immediately knew what condition I had. To be honest, I think I was in the room for about 10 minutes, and that would include being assessed, and figuring out the right medication I would need. After that, she said she wanted to see me in 6-8 weeks. I received my prescription, left to make an appt, and that was my first visit. So what's the verdict? Overall first visit, short, sweet, and to the point. Also, Dr. Robare-Stout and front desk receptionists were SORT OF helpful. Although the lady next to Kenia (can't remember her name) gave me my next appointment and wrote me a card. The phone was ringing and she picked it up and I wasn't sure what to do after getting my appointment card. I waited at the front desk kind of wondering what to do next, and she looks up at me while on the phone and says "oh, you'e done." Okay. She could have told me that before picking up the phone. Jeez. So that part was a little annoying. I just wanted to get rid of my eczema, and the medication that Dr. Robare-Stout recommended helped. This is pretty much my experience and you can go from there. I'm not sure whether or not to recommend this place as you can tell other reviews say not to go. With the exception of the lack of service from the front desk both in person and on the phone, my experience with the doctor was fine. So I have refrained from writing about this place until my treatment was done for a boil I had on my thigh was over. Let me warn you do not come to this office for treatment!! You will regret it! Let me explain what happened. About a year ago I developed a small boil on my thigh, so I made an appointment at this place, because it was near my job. They prescribed me antibiotics and Dr. Campbell told me that I would eventually have to get the tiny sac removed. So I follow up to get it removed and the office staff scheduled me to get it removed with a different doctor, because she was on maternity leave. It turns out the doctor they sent me to Dr. Tering was NOT LICENSED to do incisions and he told me I would have to reschedule. So that was a $50 to see him. He injected me with a steroid shot and 2 days later my boil inflamed to the size of a tennis ball! I called the office and all they could tell me was that I would have to go see another dermatologist and pay another $50 ded. So I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went back. Another doctor name Dr. Robare and she prescribed me antibiotics and told me to follow up in 2 weeks to remove the boil. So during that time I saw another dermatologist for a second opinion and they told me they would recommend just excising it. So I gave Dr. Robare a second chance and saw her 2 weeks later and she said that I wouldn't need to get it excised. (BTW that was another $50 ded) I had a feeling she just didn't want to do it and was annoyed that I was back. So I informed her that this dermatological association was giving me the run around sending me back and forth with no results! I also told her I followed up with another doctor at a different practice and they would just remove it. So she then informed me that they only do excisions on certain days and they are only allow 20 minutes per patient. I have the pics to prove that!!! So I finally I gave them a third chance and by that time my boil finally drained on it's own in the shower and I looked up online how to treat it, because when I called their office they never called me back for the emergency call I sent. I finally went back with my appointment to get the tiny sac removed, because it will come back if its not removed per 7 doctors that I had seen about the issue. This time Dr. Campbell was back (another $50 ded) and she told me that she didn't want to touch it because it healed on its own, however I told her, she first told me I would still have to remove the sac. I finally got fed up and I treated myself!! FIRST OF ALL MANAGEMENT HAS A POLICY OF 20 MINUTES PER PATIENT AND 3 CONDITIONS! THEY ARE MORE CONCERNED ABOUT MAKING $$$ THAN TREATING THEIR PATIENTS. I HAVE THE PICTURES TO PROVE IT. I ALSO INFORMED THE OFFICE MANAGER AT THAT LOCATION THAT I WAS REQUESTING AT LEAST $50 FROM MY DEDUCTIBLE BACK, BECAUSE THEY SET ME UP WITH A DOCTOR THAT HAD NO LICENSE TO EXCISE BOILS, INSTEAD OF SCHEDULING ME WITH A DOCTOR WHO COULD PERFORM THAT SIMPLE TREATMENT. I ALSO INFORMED HER WE COULD RESOLVE THIS ISSUE WITH AN APOLOGY AND SHE NEVER RESPONDED LIKE SHE SAID SHE WOULD. SO NOW I WILL BE CONTACTING THE TEXAS MEDICAL BOARD TO MAKE A FORMAL COMPLAINT. Also, when I did Mira Dry at the Medical spa it burned me badly and when I asked them to correct it- they said they would prescribe something but never followed through. The worst billing department. They do not send you a bill or try to use any other method of contact to notify you of a bill. Actually tell you on the phone that you have no delinquent charges when you call them. Instead they just let you get a surprise collections agency notification a year later for a small bill that you could have easily paid months ago if you were ever notified. Do not see this association of deems I have been to their PA on weekend as well they always seem to not really have time for you and it's not really a place that cares about their patients. I have been a patient of Dr. Lauren Campbell and liked her as a doctor, so I recommended her to my wife. My wife scheduled an appointment with her, then got permission from her supervisor to take time off from work for the appointment. A few weeks after the appointment was made, the office called my wife and said the appointment was cancelled, since Dr. Campbell has decided not to accept new patients anymore -- even those who had scheduled appointments! In addition to being rude, this was a huge pain in the ass, because it's not easy for my wife to schedule time off from work. I recently deleted my previous review because I didn't want the office to see my review. I decided to give them a second chance because I was desperately looking for a dermatologist that was close to where I live. When I called to make an appointment, I couldn't get a hold of anyone and left a voicemail with the front desk person. I still yet to have receive a phone call in regards to my voice mail. Just note that this office had many locations and so when you call them, you won't be calling that office directly. The front desk people are rude from previous experiences and its a shame that the doctors are going to be punished with a loss of patients due to their front staff, according to many other reviewers. read more

I really like going here. The staff is very nice! It wasn't the fastest wait time but it wasn't bad either. The WORST thing is that they RARELY ever answer the phone!!!! I couldn't remember my appt time and I called all day long and no one answered or returned my call. The doctor wrote my prescription wrong and the pharmacy needed them to correct it I left calls and messages for two days and didn't get an answer or a return call. I had to go to corporate to finally get someone to call me back! Every time I go there the girls at the front desk are just sitting there chit chatting I don't see why I have to drive all the way to the office to talk to someone! I would rather not have to find another doctor because I've already started my program here but at this rate I will prob have to because it's too much of a headache to reach someone read more

Dr. Sra took one look at my face and said "Yeah, you're going to need accutane." Without even asking me any questions or performing any pleasantries (not even a how are you). I wasn't emotionally sensitive about my face until that moment. I was surprised at her insensitivity toward patients. That was a few years ago. I recently had to return and requested an appointment through zocdoc for literally any other physician (specifically Dr. Robare, though looking at these reviews I guess that was a mistake, not that it mattered) because I didn't want to be under her crappy insensitive "care" again, but they put me with her PA. Which brings me to the nurse, who never answers the phone. The front desk will transfer you to the nurse knowing very well she won't be there. She'll call you and say to call her back but won't ever answer. Even the other people working there know she won't answer (I was asked "Ever had any luck with that?" by another employee after clarifying her extension). And she doesn't return calls either, so an automated message is how you will receive you're test results, with no opportunities to ask questions. Of course, even if you call to ask a question, it's not like she'd answer! read more

The unresponsiveness of the staff is pretty astounding. Despite multiple phone calls, noone really calls you back. I went to see Dr.Sra last week. I was on the road for a couple days after that and then the weekend came along. I called on Monday (basically 4 days after my office visit) because I had a couple of urgent questions that I forgot to address during the visit. Apparently, I need to schedule another visit just for those couple questions, which I don't think is fair. Pretty happy with Dr.Sra, but not so much with the rest of the staff. If I could give NO stars, I would, let me first start by saying the whole staff & the doc I saw are extremely rude. I got to my office appt. over 30min early and although there were only about 5 patients to be seen, I STILL didn't get seen till over 40min AFTER my appointment, that's over an hour wait. Get this! Then once I'm actually in the patient room, I'm having to wait longer, I actually had to call the front desk and ask if I was forgotten about. I wanted a skin tag removed off my eye lid, the doctor came in saw & spoke to me for less than 5min then said all he needed to do was freeze the tag to remove it. He then said it would fall off in two weeks, well two weeks came & went so I had to schedule another appointment to see WHY my skin tag hadn't fallen off. I had to wait for long while again in the waiting room even after I was adamant about needing to be in & out asap. Some woman who claimed she was the manager walked in NOT the doctor saw my skin tag still on my eye & proceeded to tell me that freezing doesn't always work and they never promised me the freezing was going to work. I was like, EXCUSE ME?!?! That was never told to me. The doctor finally came in and told me that he was going to freeze it again and I would be charged again. I finally walked out and just was out of loss for words on how the staff was extremely rude & greedy! You are definitely better off staying AWAY from this place. I finally got my skin tagged removed by Dr. Smith in Kingwood, you can google it. He & his staff were amazing! read more

Let me preface this by saying Dr. Sra is very efficient and competent, and I've seen her for more than a dozen years with great results. That being said, I can no longer recommend her work at the Binz location due to her office staff. I followed Sra from the Clear Lake Office to Binz 4 years ago, and have had nothing but difficulty communicating with the staff. Medications have been sent to the wrong locations, billing has been miscommunicated, and the straw that broke the camel's back is that no one in the office would return a call with lab results. After 4 calls in one week I had to drive to the office and demand the pathology report as they virtually never pick up the phone. I'm done. read more

I went in to for a full body check and to address a few issues with Dr. Robare. After waiting for 45 minutes I was finally called back and then waited an additional 20 minutes in the room just to have Dr. Robare come in to talk with me for about 5 minutes, address a few of my issues and walk out without performing the body check. When I asked why she left without performing the body check (mind you they had me disrobe and put on a gown FOR a body check) I was told that would be a SEPARATE appointment and that I would need to come back for the body check and I should have been told as such when I called and made the appointment, which I was not. So I spent two hours and a copay for her to address a few issues and walk out. Do NOT recommend. read more
